When the trailer came out, we all said in the comments he’s alone on the ship, lol. This plot has been done to death 🤦🏽
@faytleingod1851Ай бұрын
@@Jamietheroadrunner it's left somewhat ambiguity. I don't believe he was alone since it wasn't until the final scenes when his mental health was at an all time low that he believes he's actually underground, hears messages from Earth, and believes he's actually alone. But like I said it's ambiguous he could've just as likely been hallucinating from the start. The biggest piece of evidence he's alone is his full name being the three crew. However this is only revealed when his kind is already playing several tricks on him.

Why is Sci-Fi space movies always some supernatural mindfu*k event where the crew either end up kiling eachother or some super human/monster kills them? Why can't the crew ever just reach their destination and witness an amazing new planet and actually follow through with their mission? This is one of the reasons I liked the movie The Martian so much. It was just a science space mission where the protagonist had to solve some problems on a planet that he already landed on and no supernatrual crap. Can we get more movies like that and drop this boring trope for a bit..?
@Tomy_YonАй бұрын
Meh, if all ends well, why bother making a movie in space? Give us carnage, blood, despair! 🤗
@anolive7535Ай бұрын
Those sci-fi movies that you're describing try to tap more into the 'fear of the unknown' and 'insignificance of humanity' aspect of space, with some-sort of unexplainable eldritch event or entity driving the crew insane and/or killing them. The concept itself is interesting but I agree that it's been done sort of to death. Movies like the 'Martian' where the crew are fairly competent and the movie is grounded more in real-world science and understanding of space are less popular because of 2 main reasons. The first one being that it has a lot less broad appeal than the more action/thriller plots of a space monster. Movies like the Martian attract a more niche audience of space nerds. The second being it's much more difficult to write. It becomes effectively a requirement that the writing team has a solid background in science, maybe even needing to hire actual scientists to make sure they get the facts straight. A space monster on the other hand is much easier to write, it's just a scary looking creature that eats some of your characters occasionally.
@Deuce_and_a_halfАй бұрын
It’s easier and cheaper to make the first one than the second. Can you imagine the set and cgi budget for a new planet ecosystem and stuff? With this you just need some rooms and the occasional shot out a window.
