This film certainly leaves a lot of questions like how long has it been since the flood water rose drastically and how did humans really fail to adapt and end up at this point. I would be really interested in seeing the smokers history. Presumably at one point they were a cargo ship designed to carry tons of oil that through pillaging settlements managed to continue to survive. They also knew enough so that they could repair ships, planes, cars, jet skis and boats. They somehow had a lot of ammo too. The smokers seem to be the only ones who have access to vehicles.

Maybe someone already commented on it but I'd like to point out one detail, at the end of the movie when the smoker's Ship is sinking, you can see the name of the ship being "Exxon Valdez", which was an actual ship that caused a major oil spill in 1989, ironically it also sank due to oil in the movie. I guess the filmmakers wanted to include that detail as it was still a recent event back then.

Yeah the continents wouldn’t literally be submerged but it would obviously severely damage vast ecosystems and shore lines, as well as low level islands and coasts. It would also vastly impact the salt content and chemical balance of the oceans and have not very good outcomes from that but uncertain to what extent. It definitely wouldn’t “destroy the planet” or “force humans into extinction” that’s just nonsense and sensationalist rhetoric that is never stated by actual leading climate scientists or institutions. Mostly only uttered by uneducated leftists and straw manning conservatives. Alas, it would damage ecosystems and humans greatly in some respects at least in the “planetary short term”.

The water may seem weird and disgusting, but it's actually safe to drink as 100% of the germs and bacteria are killed and all toxic chemicals are removed.

the whole "premise" doesn't make sense, flagstaff arazona for example is 6,909 ft above sea level. for it to be even 1 foot under water... a city like new york would need to be.. over a mile deep. Peru has cities that range from 7,661 ft to 12,549 feet above sea level. that would "push" new york, to be over 2 miles under water. it simply doesn't work. If all the ice melted that would be 230 feet. Georga would have a lot more beach front property, Florida would be missing, and... Lufkin Texas would become a Major port city at the head of a massive bay sheltering an area the size of lake superior, likely becoming the prime US navy port. BUT aside from that novelty... most of africa, europe, asia would still all be above water. It would take several, not 1, but several HUGE ice asteroids the size of Everest, to start to flood parts of central Africa. And that wouldn't even push the water high enough to touch some of the "lowest" cities in Peru.

On the flip side when you get scenes like in star wars, with someone being thrown out into the vacuum of space. then using the force to pull herself Mary Poppins style back into the ship... Lots of fans found that to go beyond the normal suspension of disbelief. the more "realistic" you make a scene, the more grounded in the science of the universe... the more people are going to be drawn into the story. This was something comical with stargate. When they launched the BC-304, fans could tell where almost every part of the ship came from. I honestly never understood the hate for this movie, I watched it like more than 10 times. The only problem I had with it is the fact that this could've been more expanded on. Like the slavers for example, mentioned a lot of times but we never seen any. I think that would've worked better as a TV show divided into episodes

Yeah same reason how we could stop global warming but make ot worse anyway
@Z38_US2 жыл бұрын
@@fadillah6014 Eh I mean we could surely slow it down a lot but stopping it fully is pretty much impossible as nature itself also helps towards global warming that isn't only us (altough we make out the vast majority). The problem is we wouldn't be able to stop global warming since we need stuff like Electricity, Cars, Trucks, Planes and all the other stuff that keeps society going. Until we have a replacement for all of that that is not bad for the environment we can't just stop using it.
@fadillah60142 жыл бұрын
@@Z38_US yeah I meant we found solutions for reducing the effects but we choose not to because "we already got cheaper and more abundant one, why changing it" and when we finally use better alternative someone make it so overuse but compact stuff like in my place we got dump wasted electric vehicles but not used efficiently by people.

To everyone asking, why not use the machine to turn sea water into water or why can it turn pee and they can not turn salt water. I would argue, that it is because it DOES use a form of distillation and using it on pure sea water would make the water (which has the ability in the real world) too pure and pull resources from their bodies and a loss of electrolytes. So they decided that by just using pee they could slow this issue down giving longer periods between them finding "REAL" electrolytes.

i mean it is easier to purify urine than salt water it take huge amount of energy to desalination water completely its not a question of being to pure its just that its a lot of work that actually how our earlier explorer got there water in long travel in high sea it is possible whit the proper tool but its still way easier to actually purify waste
