It’s fair to not like Asuna’s father - I’m not sure many of us do - but the real reason why Asuna doesn’t get along with her family is her mother. Her mother is the alpha of the family, and while that in itself isn’t a bad thing, well… you’ll see. And for the record, Asuna’s brother is NOT part of the family she doesn’t get along with - he’s cool as hell and he greatly sympathizes with Asuna’s inability to get along with their mother. That, and he and Kirito get along really well. Of Asuna’s family, he’s probably the most grateful to Kirito watching over Asuna during their time in SAO, and by far most approves of Asuna’s relationship with Kirito. There’s probably a guilt factor with Asuna’s brother, considering it was his NerveGear. He had planned on playing SAO, but got called away in a last minute business trip, leaving his NerveGear to be borrowed by Asuna. That leads into what’s probably the biggest “issue” between the two: the age difference. Asuna currently is 18 and a senior in HS, while Kouichiro is in his mid-twenties, a college grad, and early in his professional career.

Kirito has time and time again fought his best with opponents that have threatened the lives of him and those around him. So It's not like his skills are lacking. He just never used them in casual situations like "this is a game".

In reality, kirito has spent max 2 years in the vr world and yuuki has spent about 3 or 4 years in vr cos of her medical condition so she's fulltime and has more experience

Considering yuuki wasnt a beta and sao player while kirito is the best sao player present in the world and also one of the mist skilled player present. He have the most knowledge of sao skills and alo techniques while yuuki doesn't have the same knowledge as of kirito regarding sao. Even without being serious kirito gave her a great fight and knew what she was going through, not to mention he didn't even used some of his skills while we know yuuki went all out because that's how her life has been till now. Yuuki might have more experience in "VR" gaming but most of them might be different games whole kirito knows bit to bit about sao

As Kayaba said in SAO, the Dual Wield is given to the fastest reaction time player due to the fast paced skillset (especially Starburst Stream that was a longest combo sword skill and Kirito even made it longer by using it without system control). So if that certain Zekken was in SAO, (s)he would be the one that got Dual Wield instead. It's not about VR experience or anything else as they are irrelevant.

@@Crescentfangs this situation is really hard to happen. As kirito already had quite great sword training even before playing(kendo) and had a good physique to boost it up. Yuuki on the other hand is opposite, she don't have a good physique and can't move around much because of her illness. Even if she was in the game she won't get the skill since the skill she got isn't from sao but rather a completely different game. Not to mention kirito have even better feats to boost up his reaction speed

@@tsgmilangaming6512 Nope, the author already answered in the interview that Yuuki got a faster reaction time as wrote in the novel, even in the anime Kirito mentioned in next episode that she would be the one received Dual Wield instead of him if she was in SAO. Reaction Time got nothing to do with physical realm if it's in the virtual world though as one could do anything they can as best one could be. There's the example in Accel World as the protagonist in the real world is a fatty but got a slim avatar in the virtual world and he using it to the max extent of his abilities.

One fun detail about New Aincrad is that very few SAO survivors play Alfheim (for obvious reasons), so almost everyone doing it are new people who have never seen the original. That kinda gives Kirito's group a bit of a special position, since they're basically the only old school front liners active among the current top players. Of course, not a lot of people would actually be aware of that, since Kirito's name was never made public and his fame comes only from word of mouth (as all 6000 survivors know his name from the announcement when the game ended)

​@@luigimanzelli3786Didn't you watch the last arc? Kirito litterally explained that Alfheim doesn't have a dual wieldnsword skill. He just uses two swords seperately. He can't use both for a swordskill. Also what Kirito said was that back in SAO, which is a completely different game, he wouldn't even have gotten that swordskill because Zekken has better reflexes than Kirito. And the reason for that gets explained in this arc.

@@She-Devil94 yeah well that doesnt' matter, Kirito was there and Kirito got it, while it's true that he can no longer to dual wielding skills he can still fight using 2 swords, like he did against Eugene and like he will also do later, when he guards the boss's room for Yuuki's party. Also in that occasion Yuuki sees him for a brief moment while he fights with 2 swords and understands he's far stronger. The second time they fight, she was a second away from losing and only wins on time against Kirito only using 1 sword, she has absolutely zero chance of winning against a semi-serious Kirito, he probably also can't win against Asuna if she didn't build a supporting character for ALO, but Kirito decided to let her go undefeated, which i didn't personally like, but i guess it's expected given the tone of the show, the reason was kinda dumb however imo.

@@luigimanzelli3786 Well the writer of the story more or less confirmed Yuuki as stronger. And again Kirito himself confirmed that he wouldn't have gotten the skill with Yuuki also in SAO. And to the spoilers you mentioned. In the light novel she defeats Kirito soundly with Mothers Rosario. That time limit thing only happens in the Anime. So Yuuki with Mothers Rosario IS stronger than Kirito with 2 swords. Litterally anyone can fight using 2 swords by the way. It's just not viewed as very effective in SAO because swordskills are way stronger than usual hits and you can't use a swordskill with both weapons if you don't have the special dual wielding skill that Kirito had in SAO. And since that dual wielding skill only existed in SAO, it is very hard to actually fight with 2 swords in Altheim.

​@@She-Devil94 another point to why people usually wouldn't go for 2 swords build is that Kirito's build, is, well, essentially a close range glass cannon 😅 He can't use a shield. He has to sacrifice armor defense with lighter cloth to boost mobility *and* more importantly to save up the equipment load for 2 pretty heavy swords. Something very similar to what Elden Ring did by the way 😅 Yes, he made it work in SAO, because he has quick reaction time and he relied heavily on overlevelling the mobs, compensating for lack of defense dedicated gear by pure stats. But otherwise it's just a crazy thing to do in a world where mistake can lead to death. And in ALO a huge number of long-ranged spells means he usually needs a back-up of healers to show his dps potential. Overall, it's not a build well suited for general public.

This arc introduced concept of "Fu__-Di__" (I censored for those who don't want to be spoiled) which will be an important concept in Season 3 for the Soul Translator. I think Kirito can win against Yuuki if he didn't reset his SAO status and keep level up with the old status from SAO (he have 1 year to do that before he meet her) look at Yuuki HP in the final fight he's able to make her HP that low with his status reset

The problem is, ALO’s character avatars don’t run on stats alone. There’s no leveling system in ALO for an avatar. The only way you can Accel in the world of ALO is through your own athletic skill and reaction time, which is how people like Leafa can be so good, considering her Kendo background. Kirito already did pretty good because SAO heightened his reflexes up to a T, let alone the fact that he had the greatest reaction time and reflexes in SAO, but again. Yuuki already far surpasses that. Which is why Kirito himself believes that even if he was fighting serious in SAO, if Yuuki was there, she would’ve taken Dual-Blades from him.

@@stardrago5641 You can’t gain EXP in ALO. The Gameverse ALO (which isn’t canon to the LNs or the anime) is different from the ALO in the anime/LNs. As of now and probably going forward, ALO has no leveling system, thus you cannot gain EXP for your avatar. You can learn and max out specific skills, but not your overall avatar. Kirito can’t gain EXP even if he transferred his SAO stats over. That’s why when he first did it back in Fairy Dance so many stuff was blanked out. ALO is specifically gear, athleticism, and skill oriented. That’s why we have busted weapons like Excalibur and Gram, and that’s why people like Leafa (who’s an athlete) and Yuuki (who has insanely busted reaction time and skill) are so strong in ALO, and why Kirito also is pretty good in ALO too. His reaction time was heightened in SAO, but the problem isn’t that. The problem is, even Kirito’s peak (which was SAO) wouldn’t be enough to take down Yuuki. 8/10 times, Yuuki beats him. The remaining two times Kirito wins is because he has an unfair advantage in terms of stats with Excalibur.

Barring the fact that Yuuki was in the VR world an entire year longer than Kirito, Asuna, who’s just a seasoned of an SAO veteran as Kirito, went her all and still completely lost to Yuuki. And Asuna *did* transfer her SAO avatar over. Transferring avatars wouldn’t have made a difference. Yuuki’s just that busted with her reaction time, that she’s able to predict attacks and even change the tides of battle back into her favor with how good her parrying and deflection skills are.
