Asura's Wrath - Main Theme - In your belief

English translation:
what were your piercing eyes looking at?
what was echoing in your trembling heart?
for a long time I did not see your smile
only your warmth did not disappear
Even your smallest scars hurt more than the gods of this earth
and that is why you will continue to destroy everything
You who stood here with nowhere else to go, what was it for that you reached out your hand to grasp?
You are the flame that burns the world I know, your kindness will burn this world and char the frozen time
You who stood there with noone else beside, what was it for that you reached out your hand to grasp?
If you lose sight of that which has no end, that which has been overlooked will surely linger on your back and make you falter
You grasp your fist, and there is no future to hold on to
jump into the wheel and press forward, there is no step
what were your clear eyes looking at?
what was echoing in your shaking heart?

People who hate on the game's story have no idea what the story was trying to convey at all. Asura's Wrath was never meant to be Japan's GOW. The whole story is a grieving man who has lost everything, Asura never wanted to be in this situation, he never wanted any of this happen. All Asura truly wanted was his family, his daughter to be safe. Asura was the voice of the innocents and their weapon, he saw the injustice among the gods he wanted it to stop, but his daughter will always come first. People keep looking at the story of this game in the wrong way and it's sad. It's so much more than a angry blood thirsty man, but instead it's how deep despair can be turned into a weapon.

Actually, it WAS similar to GOW, Kratos was at the same seat as Asura at one point. His family was everything he had, but the gods took them away, and for good. He would give up everything he had, including his power, just to meet his daughter at the underworld. The only difference was the gameplay.
@one8494
@one8494 3 ай бұрын
@@davekale2518 Not really, Asura wasn't the one slaughtering his family. Asura gave up his life and challenged the creator of the world, just for his daughter. Kratos sacrificed Elysium for more power, even when the real Calliope was there. Asura would NEVER do that. There's similarities but I wouldn't call it a direct knock off.

@@one8494 plus Kratos didn't care how many innocent people will die as long as he gets his revenge against the gods while Asura, despite being in his mindless Wrath form, only attacks his enemies(7 deities and gohma) and never the innocent. In a sense, GoW1-3 Kratos represents unbridled fury while Asura represents righteous fury.

I have a theory about Asura's wrath, in the game chakravartin states that he created the gohma to take all the humans souls back to earth where they are supposed to be. Meanwhile, the 7 deities are taking the human souls to destroy vlitra. The humans have no say for there suffering, either to die by the gohma or the 7 deities in an endless cycle. As the humans continued to die, there deep rooted sadness and rage grew. Since Asura is the god of wrath, he was the embodiment of all the humans wrath. Thats why Asura's wrath didn't go away when he destroyed the 7 deities, he needed to destroy chakravartin even if he died. After that his wrath went away cause the innocent humans finally had peace, no dieties or the gohma, but no more Asura too. Asura was basically the real and only god for the innocent people.

@un12eal1990
@un12eal1990 10 жыл бұрын
Luggar (possible spoilers) Actually, the same theory applies to Yasha but with one flaw. As the humans continued to die for 10000+ years, earth became a very sad place to live in.For 10000+ years, Yasha saw the humans die, cry, and sacrifice themselves for the 7 deities. Since he is the god of melancholy, the sadness of earth made his mantra more powerful. However, unlike Asura, Yasha was devoted to Deus's cause and the Brahmastra. That"s where he believed his mantra would be most useful, and didn't realize that he actually could generate lots of mantra like Asura through sadness. Believing in Deus's cause was his flaw. Fortunately, after meeting Asura for the 3rd time and saving him, Yasha realizes how wrong he was, and has wasted most of his mantra for the Brahmastra for 10000+ years. He sees now, that Asura is the only one powerful enough to end it all and save them, hence why he sacrifices himself for his friend/rival. After 10000+ of suffering, Yasha the god of melancholy, finally smiles at his end.

What I really love about this game is that despite the main character being the most powerful being ever, he isn't a cocky asshole. He is a mourning father who is doing everything in his power to keep his daughter safe, and I think this song represents that beautifully. I believe that Asura pushes himself out of fear more than wrath. Fear that his daughter will have to witness the war and the burden of being a large cause in it, fear of losing his daughter as he lost his wife, and comrades. Literally, he bests God to ensure his daughters safety, despite it costing his life. When he was at his lowest point, he was brought down because of his fears becoming a reality (or so he thought). When his "daughter" died because of the attack on the village, and he went berserk, they didn't play some incredible, soul raising, "I want to kick ass!" theme, they played this because he had nothing left to lose. RIP Asura's Wrath. I hope that a game this beautiful gets a remaster or adaptation of some sort.

I find it kinda funny and sad that the kindest “god” was the god of wrath. But it makes sense in a way, righteous wrath, wrath for those who wronged you or a loved one, they are all “good” wraths, Asura was made of “good” wrath in a way. He was never really fighting for himself, he was fighting for his daughter and for the humans who were being slaughtered. Thats why he was the one who won in the end.

@Makhi Makharadze that is actually plausible in real life where someone can harness their hatred and wrath towards being a better person. For example say a bully made fun of you for being weak and let's just say being too fat or skinny, someone can harness that anger towards the gym in order to get fit and prove them wrong. Or if a victim of abuse from their parents, he would use this hatred in order to become a better father for his own children knowing that he wouldn't want to be like his parents before him.

It's actually a common concept within Vedic religions. That is why so many of our deities (which Asura takes after) in our pantheons look surprisingly terrifying, fierce and angry. Their wrath isn't for wrath's sake. Their wrath comes from frustration, sadness, and anger at the inherent wrongness of mortal suffering, fueling their mission to rid the world of burden and suffering. In the game, they call Asura "The Destroyer". Destroyer Gods aren't seen as an inherently bad. Rather, they have the power to destroy the toughest of obstacles, the strength to shatter our burdens, to kill distractions, doubt and impure thoughts, in order to clear our path to nirvana. The tragedy of these types of deities is that their own selfless compassion and anger they feel for the suffering of mankind, fuels their commitment to the never ending war against suffering prevents them from attaining peace for themselves. This is a sacrifice that we see Asura make in the game. Ironically, the actual Asuras in Vedic mythology are angry for anger's sake, hence are considered a lower form of being than humans, despite being more powerful.

Asura can't be defeated, at least, not for long. His power is tied to his anger, his wrath. The more it grows, raging inside him, the stronger he becomes. Even in death, his rage won't let him rest. He spurs on, his power so great it even defies the cold hand of death itself, returning to life with his wrath burning hotter than ever, and power never before witnessed. Not even god could stand in his way. Yet through all the anger, hate and wrath flowing through him, Asura is a force for good. A voice and weapon of innocence and justice. Even though he wished not to be worshipped so, he is a true god unlike any other.

That is why he prays to no one nor shall he be prayed to. What good is a man that you look up to that can't defend you and relies solely on you? He finds no use in gods because he relies on himself and no one else. Any predicament he or his family gets into, he'll always find a way to make things right by his own fists. And even still, he is a mortal. Every breath he takes and every step he makes is as a man, not a god. He lived and died just like any other man. However unlike every other man, he lived defying his very comrades for the sake of others and even a so called god himself and he died by his own hands. So really he is not a man or a god at all. Rather he is a legend, an icon and an inspiration.

This game story is so filled with beauty and sorrow. The music represents this theme; none of the music is heavy rock based (except Yasha's which has a nice cowboy whistle thing going on) instead filled with suspense or restrained emotion. Even the final bosses music is eerily calm and quiet; yet the music in the game only enhances the feelings of Asura. This isn't a game about a blood thirsty man bent on revenge but a man whose anger comes from everything that he loved being taken from him and the sadness of seeing the weak have everything taken from them as well. If this was just a movie I would give it a 10/10; the game-play is the only thing that's lacking.

+Force Edge 200 Well there hasn't really ever been a movie rated with officially 10/10 because there is no such thing as perfection :) I'd say the soundtrack was better then the game itself or at least not far away from it. short, cut into dlc, too much QT events, some parts of the gameplay where bad, holes in the story and the plot like for example is he a robot? why is there electrical cords inside his body? is he a machine? he can chill inside lava? A very Capcom'ish game the dlc part where they cut out chapters of the story and put into dlc was dumb but was a typical Capcom move at the time game was released because they had been doing shit moves like that for a while. Cinematic could have been better since the majority of the game is cinematic and Quick time Events. It's a good game.

@@user-vr8ve6rt9c the QTEs were amazing, but even by that metric CyberConnect2 has further refined the artform through their Ultimate Ninja Storm series (i still maintain that their version of DeidaravGaara is the best adaptation of that fight, including the manga). The actual combat though? Sluggish nightmare. Asura desperately needed a dash button (again, something CC2 realized and fixed with the Naruto games), more complex combos, and 'finishers' that actually finished off hi opponents or at least didn't put him in a freaking refractory period after using them. A remake today would see all those awkward first try hiccups fully smoothed out with CC2's current skills and experience, while retaining all the artistic and narrative merrit that this unsung iamond of a game has.

This game being a masterpiece with a high end tier ost, if they would have made into a trilogy like the original God of War with same level of exploration and having a slow steady plot building leading to this climatic finale, would easily take a 10/10. The protagonist is extremely powerful, him and some others are easily planet level destroyers. Their universe could be similar to DBZ anime if the developers wanted.

One Question i Always asked myself is, how Strong and Insanely Unstable would Asura have become if someone Actually Killed mithra? We have seen how Pissed he got just because a Girl Resembling her died and how Pissed he got when someone talked Bad about her or Made her cry, to a point where even the Creator of the Universe couldn't stop him anymore! So to a Point, we could argue that we have never seen Asura's True Power as his Power is Directly Linked to his Anger and the one thing that would piss him off the most, did never happen!

Probably weaker, because his wrath is rightful so long as he can save others with it, Mithra was the penultimate reasoning behind his strenght, a threat to her life and happiness means he shant stop until she is safe and happy, losing her means his wrath turns into a drive for revenge, a weaker drive overrall since he is a good man.

This game is a true work of art that I think pioneered the story based games just like heavy rain. However I think this surpasses heavy rain due to its depth tragic characters, and the issue it poses of "what would you do to please your god and protect the ones you love" Asura is the perfect example of this. He rejected his brethren when they asked for to steep a price, and when he was betrayed he sought to right the wrong committed by the powerful and protect those who were weak. This is a trait we can take with us into the real world, knowing that there is more to than world just us and we must aid our brothers and sisters in humanity who are less fortunate than us and help them become strong.

Asura Isnt just an angry man who screams at things. He takes his anger, and focuses it to his goals. He uses his anger as power to overcome what opposes him. The strength to uphold it! He will rise above all that beats him down! This game makes my inner badass. So rise again Asura! Rise, and be ANGRY!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Asura went up against all of Creation itself, just to save his Daughter. "You Can't be a Hero for anyone, But You can be for a Loved One"

This is exactly how I felt when I looked at my grades. What was echoing in my shaking heart? Three things: Fear, Sorrow and Overwhelming Regret
