Such an amazing laptop. I've had it for a year now. Definitely worth getting if someone's on a budget and looking to use it for: Web Browsing, E-Mail, Streaming, Music, and Light Gaming (Emulation like SNES/Sega/PS1/PSP/GBA).

Probably the most comprehensive explanation and demo when it comes to a machines capabilities with games. You included simpler and older games which most of those tech snobs almost never do (like people who criticize it for not running Baldurs Gate 3). You basically did everything I would have with a machine - even when you tested it for Linux. i reccomend you taking a look at the One Mix 4. its an 10" qhd 16:10 ratio, packed with modern and quite powerful hardware (i5 or i7, up to 16gb of ram, nvme ssd) all in a compact metal chassis. its a crazy machine. (theres a good review from mobiletechreview on youtube).

I got the E210m, which seems to be essentially identical to this, but came with Windows 11 and it didn't have an SD slot for some reason. It runs much better with Linux Lite, been very happy with it. Great as a video and internet browsing device.

@@adaml.5355 I tested a few distros and several had issues connecting to wifi. Linux Lite was able to connect, but just barely. It wasn't after I installed it and updated the driver to something else that it's been working well.

@@cutewhitedog6621 It has very little internal storage, so probably not using that. But you might be able to add more storage and put one OS on the eMMC and the other on an SSD. I have not tried doing that, but I guess it's theoretically possible. I have heard Windows can create issues when dual booting, but I don't have any experience doing any of that.

@@ka0h_ I paid around $160 after taxes. Wifi driver's don't come standard so I had to use a USB to Ethernet adapter to download and install the latest wifi drivers. No issues since then, well, other than low ram. Installing and NVME drive and setting up a 4GB swap partition helps with that, but it's still a tad slow

@@mikedw6748 The advantage Linux has is that you can find a distro that is less resource hungry, perfect for older systems or with not that much RAM, whereas you cannot do the exact same thing with Windows, as MSFT drops support for those older versions that would do wonders on that older hardware.

@@helly9015 If you look around a bit on the internet, you’ll quickly find that which OS lasts longer depends on the specific hardware and the drivers available. For some, Linux provides a significantly longer battery life. For others, it has a slightly shorter battery life. Once you’ve used the device for a year or two and software is running in the background of Windows, Linux gains the definite advantage.

About the linux section. You are correct that Ubuntu (and Linux Mint, based on Ubuntu) is not loading the wifi drivers needed, but this is weird, if you use MX LInux, Antix etc, it will load the wifi drivers. With Antix or MX Linux, this thing is a beast for the price. So it has to be that Canoncial is not shipping the needed drivers for some reason but Debian 3rd party is. Odd.

just install a light linux distro and possibly use a lightweight browser (nothing eats RAM the way Chrome does on Windows ) .. The resolution is fine for the size even if you might be able to see pixels while looking closely.

I've adapted to the smaller keyboard well enough, speakers and video aren't ridiculously bad [better than my monitors very poor speakers], no issues with boring windows tasks. Took it out of S straight away and am considering adding an M.2 but i haven't taken a laptop apart yet... thought i'd see. For sure boots and wakes up slower than the PC I built, but I bought it for 99 + tax, so i know what i'm getting

Too bad they still use emmc. When your internet is faster than your drive... They should really invest the 10 bucks to 20 bucks more to give them dual channel 8gig and an ssd and add those costs to the customer. The problem is that most people just see x gig drive and y gig ram and have no idea what write/read speeds are or what dual channel means. So they just buy the cheapest option.

I can't vouch for coding, but aside from that, it should definitely be able to handle everything else school would have to offer. I'm online with all of my courses at the moment and I have a machine about as fast as this one - haven't had a problem yet.

The RAM is doable. Can’t recommend these things for more than a secondary computer around the house or whatever or just a computer to take with you for class, but no expectations of doing anything really hard on them. The CPU is still abysmal. Honestly you’re better off just getting an iPad and a cheap $20 Bluetooth keyboard case off Amazon for school purposes. A

You can get a used Acer c720 that has expandable memory via its SSD if you want Linus. They’re dirt cheap off eBay (like $60), have a much faster CPU, and fast storage built in. Or get a used Thinkpad off eBay. X230s and even 240s are cheaper than this computer used and it’ll be a heck of a lot more useful

There are many used HP Elitebook 840 G3 laptops (circa 2016) available on eBay for $200. Most are in great shape. They have dual-channel memory, excellent backlit keyboards, SATA and NVMe slots, and they are upgradeable. An "old" Elitebook will run rings around this underpowered Asus netbook.

No with super low graphis but your hit 20fps or less. This is a entertain laptop for those who just doesn't have to deal alot of cost. What is your cost, so that I could you to save cost buy yourself the right laptop?

Only difference is the OS i.e. DB01 has Windows 10s, DB02 has Windows 11s

tbh only if you get a laptop NEW,... when you get then pre-owned (renewed whatever) Then you might have to find a kit or a pack on your own. Hope this helps you!

It would be optimistic to say that this machine could be used for watching KZbin videos as it'll struggle to do pretty much anything else while that's happening. Let alone edit videos. These horrible dual core 2 thread laptops are really meant to be used for one task at a time, and in this day and age I just don't think that's acceptable.

Anything that can run Windows 10 for sub 250 is pretty impressive. It's actually pretty similar in price to the Lenovo Chromebook duet.

I don't think Autocad requires support per se. Doubt it would run well on that GPU though.
