Great video, just ordered this one on a black Friday sale without knowing much about it and now I'm glad I did. I was mainly looking for a cheap compact laptop to use for streaming and internet browsing. The only feature that was a must for me was a backlit keyboard and Asus seems to be the only brand doing it on cheaper laptops. For $160 Target had the L410 which is similar but with a celeron and 64gb. Then for a little more $ I found the E410 with a better processor and 128gb. This is exactly what I was looking for.

This is an incredible deal ... once again TYSM for the review. Getting past MS security can be an irritant but for $150 on Amazon delivered is just fine. I still haven't figured out how to get the keys backlit (which has always been one of my fetishes) BUT the built in speakers are ASTONISHING. I wish it had more ports but for the price one can't complain. Cheers!!

Congrats on your new laptop! I looked on the Asus website and it says the E210 uses a PCIe SSD. So theoretically, you should be able to replace it. I've never taken the E210 apart myself, so I can't advise you on that, unfortunately. I'd try doing a search for "Asus E210 service manual" to see if they have diagrams for upgrades.

It's "installed", but you can't use it until you register and activate it online. And I think it's only for 1 year, after that you might have to pay Microsoft to continue using it. I got rid of it and installed libre office - almost same software, but open source and free.

This is a great looking unit. Would this be good enough to do light audio engineering? I keep all my projects on an external hard drive so I don't need the storage, I just need something to record with in the field.

Then moving my work over to my big pc via portable SSD for actual mixing/mastering. I'm hoping a unit this small would fit the need for a cheap portable solution between studio and home.

@@edima according to system requirements (www.presonus.com/products/Studio-One/tech-specs), you need a minimum i3 processor, so it's probably not going to be fast enough for your usage. Especially if you're going to do realtime work, I'd look for a more powerful machine. Good luck man!

I bought this laptop today based off this! I played Minecraft since it's a comfort game of mine on it, it was just fine. I turned off S Mode and was able to get Chrome. So far so good! Edit: I also added my own webcam 😂

Love this video. I got this computer for Christmas. I usually have a mac but my girlfriend knew I like watching and streaming on my ipad but thought it just the pure basic so this windows world is new to me. Okay, I can't find for the life of me how to take a screen shot and save it on my desk top. I was fooling around with the buttons onto and it gave me this submenu but when I take the snippet where does it go? I want it to save o my computer and I don't know how, can you help please

You can use the built-in snipping tool. Open it up, click on "new". Make a box around the part you want to save, then click "file", "save as" and save it. There's also a print screen button on the keyboard. If you press "Prt Sc" (upper right of keyboard), it saves a screenshot in memory. You can then paste it in your favorite graphics program.

Your video was the best I've seen, but I am not very tech savvy. I just bought an E410K Asus I can't find out what the difference is in the M and the one I have? I am not planning to save info, mainly for looking at daily events, no tv streaming, or games, so the guys at Best Buy (not my fav store} recommended this unit, price was good, but no later help, like when you buy a computer from Costco. The only thing in Asus Costco sells are higher end Asus which I would never use all the features. Barely can figure this one out.

Congratulations on getting your computer! Functionally, all computers do the same thing - which is to run apps. The biggest app to understand how to use is the monster called Windows (I reckon KZbin is a good place to start.) Things like how file systems work and where things you download get saved, basic things first. Otherwise, I'd Google for "Asus E410K laptop manual" or something like that and you'll probably find a pdf file that you can download. Read it over and that should give you all the info about your laptop. Or... it's possible a manual is already on your computer. Try clicking the start button and search for "Asus manual" or just "manual" and see if you get any hits. Good luck!

Practicality speaking, most lappys with that size screen probably can't get anywhere near 8-9 hours. Maybe if the brightness was on the lowest setting and with the most power saving cpu? But that kind of setting makes it unusable. It's a hard one, this.

It's good for students, but mostly for online learning. If you're looking at heavy graphics or CAD programs, you will have problems. I tried installing a much older version of Photoshop, but it still struggled because the processor isn't the fastest.

The [F7] key (in media mode) turns on backlighting. Don't forget - that row of keys works as either F keys (F1 to F12) or media keys. You change between them by holding down the [Fn] key (on lower left) and pressing [Esc] on upper left. Or hold [Fn] and press [F7]. Your choice.

It's a Microsoft trick. A lot of laptops now come with "Windows S" - it only lets you install apps from Windows store (they make more money that way) so you have to "leave" Windows S to normal windows. Google search "how to leave Windows S mode" and follow instructions. Microsoft recently made it harder to leave S mode, so instructions won't be exact. You now have to link a Windows Live account (or use a hotmail account) to your computer because they want to track you. But after you convert to normal Windows, you can disconnect this link in your computer "Settings > User accounts". They're using fear tactics to stop people from leaving S mode, but you never wanted anyway so don't let them stop you. Afterwards, you can install any program you need. Good luck!

If it was a text editing type app like Notepad++ or a command-line C compiler, I'd say no problem. But nowadays, a lot of companies make their coding apps/middleware so heavy that it makes more sense to find out the minimum requirements of whatever tool you'll be using first.

You can use character map (it's software included in Windows) for those kinds of letters. Go to Windows start and type "character map" - then click to launch it. It'll have every character ever invented, which you can now copy and paste.
