@basharkhoury9403
@basharkhoury9403 2 жыл бұрын
@@hevz6339 it has been running for 2 weeks now, and the main reason that I bought this one is the color I have my build white and black and it fits perfectly. The performance in motherboards is negligible for me and not worth looking at it it I was more interested in the number of NVMe slots that I can fit in it specially with the news of direct storage coming to PCs, if you you would like wifi with it you can get the new version of this one that has wifi and Bluetooth. But the main thing to ask is do you really want the ddr5 ( for me I got them used for a good price ) as the price is really high compared to the performance.

Hi Laurent, Thanks for the review, top class! I have a question for you: Why on God's green and blue earth are you so DOWN on SATA 3 ports being on MoBos?? I can understand how a few may not need the storage but what's the alternative? You have enough M2 slots now on these Z690s so no complaints for you there. But the cost of high capacity M2s is prohibitive still. Where are you going to store some terabytes of data on the family computer if they get rid of SATA? Video editors who create 4K & 8K files, family people with lots of photos and 4K vid files and many more uses and reasons that much storage is needed in everyday computing. What are these people to do if SATA goes away. SATA 7,200rpm drives are the absolute best value and for storage the case can be argued that the 5,400 low power versions are more than adequate. So, why so down on SATA mate? I, for one, would be lost without it. For my vid editing I have some tasty WD Gold 18TB and Ultrastar 14TB drives. They're reliable as the sun, cost only $45AUD per TB and are a solid mature technology solution. I have WD HDDs that are 12 years old and still in perfect health. What's not to like unless you rely on them as a rabid gamer, which most don't.
@Laurentschoice
@Laurentschoice 3 жыл бұрын
You are correct on all the points . My real issue... what truly bugs me is not the SATA standard which is great. But the fact that it never got its long promised update (SATA IV). I simply don't get it. Either manufacturers updates the standard or they replace it. But keeping us on a 6gbs standard when we are dealing with PCIe 4 and 5 roll out... is beyond me.
@brianhoward9217
@brianhoward9217 3 жыл бұрын
@@Laurentschoice Maybe now with NvME/M2 drives they don't see a need to put money into HDD tech to speed it up. Maybe the manufacturers see HDDs as 'storage only' and are content to use M2 drives for the boot drive to play games and drive the computers with reliable SAT just sitting there ready to kindly store any data. It IS odd though, why they don't create the SATA 4 and beyond - if you look at the current evolution in HDD tech there's some absolutely amazing cutting edge tech going on. Look at helium drives (yes, years old now but still) and look at the work Seagate is doing with multiple actuator arms and WD is doing with the Ultrastar and Gold 20TB drives - just stunning tech. Why they don't make the transfer rate faster than SATA 3 is also beyond me too.

I choosed now those asus for following reasons: price, good enough vrm (i don't need OC on my 12900k, is strong enough, the only thing i do is undervolting for better temps), no audio issues reported, stunning looking and lga 1200 cooler compatibility (asus is the only one do that). Be aware! This MB can be a nightmare! It has now been on the market for almost 1 year. Still, it seems to work with 2 rams at most. All compatible rams are listed on the official ASUS page for this motherboard, but only with a maximum of two slots. I tried everything to make it work with 4x 16gb but ended up with blue screens again and again. I have now taken out 2x 16gb and everything works fine...but I need 64gb!!! This is a disaster: not only that I have now bought 2x 16gb for nothing. In addition, the space for the first ram slot was so tight that I had to remove the heatsink to even have enough space next to the CPU fan. It is also incomprehensible that only the last bios update in July made it possible for my 6000mhz RAMs to be recognized as such. So that's a whopping 9 months since the motherboard was released. What kind of idiots built this motherboard? For me, this was definitely the last ASUS product I bought! Horrible!!!

Hello friend. Unfortunately I didn't see your comment before buying this same card. I bought the parts for my new work PC but they still haven't arrived. Your experience reported here is really serious. Mainly in relation to the card not recognizing more than two slots. any news regarding this? Not to mention the space problem with the first memory slot. Anyway, I'm sorry for your problem and I'm afraid I'm going to go through the same problems here. If you have any news or tips on this it would be most welcome. By the way, what kind of ram memory (frequency, model, etc) are you using on your pc? Thank you and success.

What type of RAM are you using? I tried with a kit (2 x 16) FURY Beast RGB DDR5 5200MHz CL40 and I had compatibility problems (having the in-stock bios version)

Eventhough the chipset can support both ddr4 and ddr5 ram,.motherboards cannot support both standards. Ddr4 and ddr5 ram have different fitting sockets. It is physically impossible to to swap standards on the same motherboard.

Hi there :) Obviously when I talk about front panel connectors , USBs are connectors and not ports :) same for TH4 :):):). My bad... @@Laurentschoice what is your thoughts on DDR4 memory speeds with 12th gen 12900k's? I've seen a bunch of videos showing 4800 mhz but its hard to come by. Also I saw some say 3200 speed as it last the least latency. Many to choose from 3200, 3600, 4000, 4400, 4800. What makes sense or which model in stock on newegg/amazon you recommend. Thanks!

You know i live in Bolivia very far away xd so things are very pricy here but 2 days ago i saw things dropping prices in amazon so i decided to get this motherboard for 211$ with a DDR5 vengance 5600mhz 2x16gb(at 114$) instead of a B660-A rog strix at(250$) and g skill trident z 2x16gb(at 92$) i really wanted to the rog strix motherboard but the price on this and DDR5 really tempted me so i decided pick this one, delivery will take about 1 month since i live so far away, i hope this one works well, i'm also buying a wifi antena from aliexpress for 20$
