Watched your last Z13 review and a person that ultimately made me decide to get one. I have the ACRNYM version though. -I like the ports for this one, more and updated. -Removed the dedicated port for the mobile GPU which is great. -i like the updated keyboard. Don't care about the brightness, the enlarge mouse pad is great though. -i like the mobile center button and its possible usability. -battery size and capability. -faster screen. -i like that they are figuring out better ways to optimize cooling with these kind of machines. -I was expecting a stronger GPU. I have the 4070 from two years ago. I would have love to see this with the 50 series or a comparable capability at that level. -still don't like the power port. I am hoping that they can figure out a magnetic thing similar to the Surface. I have mine with one that connects to a magnetic dongle that have 240w with 40Gbps that connects to the USB-C. - still not liking the window. Would have love it to be the first tablet that I can open and actually clean the inside and possibly swap the battery instead. - was hoping that they have figured out how to put the longer version SSD. Would love to have a changeable 4tb of memory with this form factor. This tablet pushes innovation, portability and capability that attracted me to the 2nd iteration of this line up. I hope that ASUS keep following through since the windows surface line up didn't take advantage of it or RAZER didn't take a chance.

Its a great product, the integrated GPU seems like a good trade-off for more battery gain. i definitely would have preferred an anti glare OLED screen and being a portable mobile gudget, at least 90% performance on battery would have been great since most people will use it unplugged. And that asking pricing... Ouch🤕

This is most likely the most optimal device for traveling. The iGPU performance improvement wasn't even incremental, it just teleported from the 1060 performance to 4060 instantly. Unprecedented.

Especially when you won't be running games at presets that require more than 6-7GB (1080P, Med-high presets), it performs similarly to 4060 after all. Where is the logic in your reasoning?

I am not sure if we can should these SoCs iGPU anymore. This is a proper GPU with 40 computing units on the same chip. This is much closer to 7700 xt dedicated GPU (54 computing units) than 9950xt iGPU (2 computing units)

A mini LED high refresh rate 14" screen would have been amazing. The inbuilt microphone array sounded really top-notch with a decent webcam image in the low lighting.

100 watts charger is not enough to use turbo mode.If you want to use AI MAX 395 at 120 watts , you must use its huge and heavy 200 watts charger.

Thanks Matt for the nice preview. Independently of the actual laptop/tablet and its form factor, for me the most interesting part was how you defined the kind of niche that Strix Halo is. When Strix Halo information started to leak, it raised excessive expectations for a kind of product that AMD hadn't designed before. Especially the rumors about iGPU that could match the performance of a mobile RTX 4070 are too good to be true. As many others stated, I see a good opportunity for this APU to make a difference in a few premium NUC-like PCs, where performance is not hampered by battery limitations and small form factor would not allow an external GPU. Still, the overall CPU+iGPU performance could come close to a budget gaming desktop PC. For laptops, it makes sense for workstations like ZBook running Windows, but I do not see many such models to exist in the market.

This type of APU is the future of PCs. In another few years, this will be enough for most people and desktop PCs will be reserved for hardcore gamers. For most people, this will be enough and inside a mini PC case. Just like the Mac mini, but PC version. This tablet is insane.

Love the form factor, but unfortunately had too many issues with the 2023 Flow Z13 and had to return more than one of them. To my knowledge, there are still issues being reported with the keyboard covers failing and ASUS is unable to repair them and just swaps them out for new ones at this point. Hoping that this has a number of improvements made over the previous models to be worth picking up.

it's what I wish my surface pro 7 was! I agree with the comment below about this being in a mini-PC. If someone would make a mini-PC with this chip, at least 32GB RAM, 1TB+ storage for $750 I would buy one in a heartbeat. I feel like a lot of the mini-PC makers REALLY up the prices on their more powerful models, but I know so many people that would buy these if the price was realistic. At the point you are spending $1k or more that's mini ITX desktop PC territory but between $500-750 for a device with this power, and with better thermals, would sell like hot cakes.

I'm 90% sure I'm gonna buy this, at least to support this style of APU. For a future versions of the 395Max+, I'd love to see three versions of the chip with scaling similar to the M series. sort of a 1x, 2x, 3x when it comes to the GPU. So maybe 20 GPU cores, 40 GPU Cores and 80 GPU cores or something similar. To me, this is where AMD might be able to shine on laptops. Really hoping they recognize the massive potential future of this architecture and like you said, would definitely love to see this on laptops.

I am not a gamer. I am a programmer who sometimes plays games in the weekends. this tablet/laptop seems to be straight from heaven! when I just want to code, I wont even need the charger brick! it's lightweight and small, ready to move and powerful! it doesn't have rj45 but it's fine. I am not a network programmer! and for gaming, when connected it has an acceptable performance! I wish more laptops were like this! the only downside is the price I guess!

Awesome video, and a seemingly awesome product! I want to like this, so bad. However, I have had 4 of these in the past, and all 4 had to be returned and or I just sold because of constant issues. They were great at first, and the concept is awesome, but for whatever reason, be it QC or bad luck, they was always a problem. Hopefully this model and chip are different.

In the UK, the price is £2700 for 1TB/16GB with an FHD+ IPS display and 62-watt battery. So, that is a lot more than even the ultra-expensive Surface Pro! There is a lot of excitement in the comments, so there must be many wealthy people out there, as that is hefty for a Windows tablet. There is no option to buy a 32GB model, but I would expect that to be close to £3000. If you are really sold on this, though at the price, I would be surprised, then wait for a deal as this is inferior value.

You must be looking at an earlier model, the 2025 models start at £2,199.99 for the 32GB, 12core CPU and 32CU iGPU with a 70Wh battery. Still expensive but not quite as bad. I'm looking forward to seeing these chips in a more normal laptop and mini PCs.

I heard the last gen only got 4 hours of SOT, but the new one will have a larger battery and hopefully a more efficient chip, but we will have to wait for tests. I suspect it will still be subpar compared to laptops.

That power connector looks like a mini display port. The camera/mic look/sound like any laptop from the last 25 years. Sad, but since I care zero percent about it, funny. The non upgradable RAM is not acceptable to me, but it is a tablet so I will let it slide. Question, what resolution were the games running at? Overall it looks like a great little system, no question about it, and thank you for this video. If I had money I would love to shop for a similar system, though not necessarily a tablet. AMD has a great APU there and I do believe with some effort it will shine inside a properly cooled gaming laptop or mini PC. I just hope that AMD isn't asking a crazy price for it and misses the opportunity it has. If a gamer has the same price laptop, one with this great APU and one with a dGPU, they will go for the dGPU and we all know that means Nvidia. Thanks again for the video.

I ran the games at its native resolution (2560 x 1600). As for the cpu being in other devices i think its going to be very expensive this year and maybe next year you'll see it discounted in more affordable mini pcs. I agree having a dgpu at least with the new 50 series will be faster at the expensive of battery life and a louder laptop. Thanks for your time and for watching!

Sure, this thing will be great for gaming, but many people doing actual work who would have been interested in this can't use one because the GPU is almost definitely not supported in their software of choice

I got the 2023 z13 and the new one looks amazing, especially battery and the 40 AMD RDNA 3.5 CUs!! But why proprietary power connection? Mine has a 3.2 USB-C and a TB4 port and only gets powered by the non Thunderbolt port (German models are all like this which was stupid enough but now you can’t even charge it at all if you loose / damage your charger…but the rest is a great package! Hyped to upgrade. Full AMD system is very efficient compared to Intel / Nvidia combined which are both aweful at power consumption

Problem is that for a igpu tablet it’s very expensive. I would have preferred 1200-1500. 1999 is quite steep when you could have gotten a 4070 g14. Hell you can almost get a g14 4060 (on sale) and an ipad

What boost clocks would the CPU sustain while using an eGPU, so the like 2-4 thread full wattage Cinebench boost clocks? Considering on upgrading my Ally X that I use an RTX 4090 via USB4 with. The Z1e in that device can maintain 4.1GHz but is still generally CPU clock/cache limited in the games I play.

The apu utilizes the ram across the whole laptop rather than just for certain applications. It will split the typical ram and vram I believe so the efficiency is better and smoother

This might be my next, I find the graphics performance amazing! Will take up less space on desk then a laptop, so better in that respect. Can use as a tablet on couch and etc, so better in that respect. Small and light so easy to travel with, use on train and plane, then laptop. Typing experience not as good as laptop, but I'm unlikely to need to do much typing on the go so a non-issue for me.

@@MatthewMoniz So, my honest thought on this (It's a long one) is, that's my problem with ASUS. They're keep doing this weird little proprietary hardware gate keeping stuff that doesn't really need to be. I'd be happier if it was just all 3 USB C or just 2 USB C with 1 having the capability of 100w+ charging. I believe for a product like this 100W should be more than enough power, and even if they'd want to push it to 100W+ there should be already USB C spec'd for > 100W if I'm not mistaken. As much as I love my Flow x13 it has also got a proprietary gatekeeping with what charger can be accepted for "full power" by having a chip to check if the connected USB C charger is a ROG charger while handshake. It's needless and unhelpful for the ecosystem in general. I won't even expand on their xg mobile because that was a very unwise decision from ASUS from the get-go.

Hard to compare it to a handheld (this is significantly more powerful) or a desktop (this is significantly more portable), but yeah the comparisons with a laptop are not great unless you want the tablet form factor.

What do you mean? Its an executable file that you download and install. You run it from CMD prompt/Windows Powershell.

@​ @iamjacobnz if you have seen thinner 5070 prices, they are also around $2000 I think they should start at $1500; they will come down for sure, but then this will too, maybe some company will make it without Asus tax Also since there's no "2nd" GPU, less battery drain. And maybe you can play on battery more easily like AMD APU / unlike Nvidia GPU. That's the main advantage I see, aside from VRAM

No OLED, no buy. What a huge miss by Asus. Edit: Also, for the love of god stop putting 16:10 screens in gaming oriented devices. No japanese games support 16:10, leaving black bars. 90% of indie games also dont support 16:10, again w/ black bars. 16:10 has worse support for games than even 21:9.

Now Apple has to respond via iPadOS 19, especially if this becomes mainstream as a "Tablet" which is an actual computer. The iPad has M1/M2/M4 + USB 4. They have to implement more real Computer Features. Thanks AMD.

Apple does not care. They have said they will never turn iPads into macOS devices. If you want a tablet to run a desktop OS, then go elsewhere or buy a Mac and iPad, as most of us do.

XG Mobile still exists but the new one is now using Thunderbolt 5. So you can use it with any device.

The new XG mobile is backwards compatible, but the old XG is not forward compatible.
