Size is perfect for large desk gaming; I've been using an LG 42 inch display on my large-sized desk for gaming for a number of years now and it is starting to look small, but still happy overall with size. I find that very large sized monitors help to pick-out tiny distanced enemies very far away in gaming and this has helped to some degree in games like Battlefield 3 and similar. Gutting that it is not G-Sync Ultimate for HDR + 1-144Hz refresh range, or at the very least G-Sync Full Range for 1-144Hz refresh range; G-Sync Compatible is the lowest of the three versions only handling apprx. 48-144Hz refresh range. Would've also been nice to have HDMI version 2.1 as a backup instead of only version 2.0 (version 2.1 is 4K up to 120Hz variable, version 2.0 is 4K at only 60Hz non variable)

Ordered this today. :) Finally a proper upgrade from 43" Philips Momentum 436M6VBP, which has been a fantastic gaming display. I never thought I would get a 60Hz display again, but the immersion of 43" was such an upgrade with 4k AND HDR1000 from compared to even 35" ultrawides with 120Hz. You cannot place a 55" behind your keyboard at desk. 43" is the perfect size for that.

Text clarity is a lot better now. As for blowing your 144Hz 1440p IPS out of the water, I'm not so sure, what monitor do you have right now and what are your system specs? 1440p is a lot easier to run. This will do better HDR and is great if you want something bigger, but the better 1440p/144hz/ips options out there will still be faster.

@ILikeWhatILike694 жыл бұрын
@@youtubesuresuckscock Yeah but 48" is too big even for mounting it in the wall, you'd need a 30" deep desk to be at the right distance and it will probably still be too big. 43" is usable as a monitor, I know because I used a 43" TV when I built my first PC and was waiting on the monitor to arrive, and it actually felt like a downgrade when I installed my 27". Not to mention the burn-in fears. I don't want to worry about burn in. Great point about LG OLED being the obvious choice for big format. However, the ~13 ms is at 60 Hz, the C9 input lag is actually ~6.8 ms at 120 HZ. It is better to reference Rtings when it comes to TVs. To push 120 Hz at 4k is a challenge even for a 2080 Ti so HDMI 2.1 might not bring much to the table unless Nvidia Ampere steps up the game.

I have an old Vizio m43 4k TV and it's been phenomenal for a large display monitor. It has very low input lag, great black levels and awesome color. It's not 144hz in any way, it's actually 60hz 4k, and 120hz 1080p but the awesome part is the upscaling. If I play in 1080p with ultra settings, I can turn off anti aliasing completely and it looks like 4k with full aliasing and runs 120hz. I suppose the downside to this is no gsync or freesync so there is some occasional tearing in fast moving games. However this TV is 5 or more years old, to my eyes looks better than almost anything on the market under $1k dollars, and only cost me 600 dollars which was a steal given that 4k was still fledgling at the time and came at a premium. This monitor is damn sexy though. I still don't understand why monitors are so much more expensive than televisions when the only perceivable difference is refresh rates.

The picture was amazing I can’t take that away but it’s just the brightness that kept eating at me. Now I’m stuck between choosing a different tv or looking for a high end monitor. I already have my old Sony x900f from 2018 but as I’ve done extensive research I found out the contrast is much better than even the newer X900H and at stock Samsung q90t

OD 2-3 is decent and is where you should aim for. It's still not the fastest panel, I've got the 240Hz XG270 here (review soon) and a 280Hz VG279QM as reference models of how a really fast panel should perform, but considering the size and target audience (not CS:GO players) the speed fine really. It's still subjective though, if you come from a 60Hz or an older 144Hz VA you'll find this great, if you're used to top tier panels you'll see the difference (and probably won't consider this anyway), but it's perfectly fine for most people / the intended audience. Actually going back from this to the XG270/VG279QM and then watching HDR content for example makes me miss the PG43UQ a lot ;) I really doubt how many people spamming about how terrible it's supposed to be actually have one tbh.

@@TechTesters "Did you watch the video? If that was my experience I simply would have said so." Yes I watched the entire video before posting my question. What a strange choice to be rude to near-subscriber for such a simple question, which was in fact about smearing inherent to VA panels (as in black smearing specifically), not overshoot. To the logic of your response, how about this: Q: In your experience does the monitor break if I drop it? A. If that was my experience I simply would have said so. Q: In your experience do bad things happen if I dowse the monitor in boiling water? A. If that was my experience I simply would have said so. You're the only reviewer I've seen that had a really positive review of this monitor, so I thought I'd get a more in-depth reply about the most talked-about complaint, which is pretty logical and not exactly worthy of a snide remark in return. So yeah, not that you care but so much for subscribing to your channel, I'll leave that to all the dudes who subscribed for other reasons.

@@TechTesters In fairness, Josh was just asking an obvious question on all of our minds. That's because the handful of reviews available all were pretty in-depth and ALL came to the conclusion that this panel is completely unwatchable. I can't say if that's true or not, as I've been considering this panel but haven't seen it in person. Still, when every single review thus far has said i'ts the worst panel they've ever used, and all of them had pretty in-depth knowledge of specs and lot's of experience with multiple panels of all types your review just stuck out as completely different than any reviews thus far. I can see how you might lose patience with people some times as doing reviews I'm sure can be a thankless task, but specifically the black smearing is supposed to be so bad on this panel that it's hard to believe Asus even released such a product. Not getting on your case, I' appreciate you and your review - You might take a quick look at the other reviews to understand where Josh was coming from. Thanks for your review, regardless....

@@mikethestockimpaler3049 Thanks, appreciate that. I agree it was a great review though also very different than others, and as you mentioned there are some in-depth, hands-on reviews that all come to the conclusion that black-smearing is a deal breaker. I was encouraged by this specific review but that one issue is still keeping me from pulling the trigger on a purchase, simply because the massive size of this thing would not make it fun if I had to return it :/

Thanks for this review. Your comment about moving your eyes around if too close to the monitor is bang on the money. This is too big for me. I'll wait for the new Acer Predator X32 1,400 nits mini-LED G-Sync Ultimate display. Outrageously expensive but it will be at the top of the heap when it comes out. Why don't they make a monitor like this but smaller? It would cost even less
@kishona694 жыл бұрын
I'll go with the XG438Q instead. 144hz at 4k ( gaming with ULTRA settings) isn't achievable with any GPU just yet and I honestly don't need HDR 1000 when 600 will do just fine. So for now I'd rather just save $400 and get the older brother. This monitor is something of a "future proof" purchase for the next generation of GPUs/consoles but right now I don't see the need.
@TechTesters4 жыл бұрын
Really? I'd say if you're already spending that much on the XG, I'd take the PG instead. But I guess it depends on what $400 means, it's definitely a good 'cheaper' alternative.

@@NexGenTek Maybe it does but that's not enough (Imo) to justify that price when both models basically suffer from the same issues. Ridiculously overkill. Consoles can't output more than 60 fps so 144hz is pointless. You're paying about £800 for a feature that you wouldn't be able to use whatsoever, surely you would spend the money on a decent gaming computer and a smaller monitor that still has those features you can actually take advantage of

We have one 43" as a primary display for test rigs we use daily. It's useful if you need to have a lot of stuff on the screen at once, and pretty immersive in some big games. But it's definitely more intense on the eyes (looking around) and neck (moving around). It really won't be for some.
