I game on a 43" Samsung 4K TV and I just bought this monitor (shipping as i type) to upgrade along with a 2080 super and other goodies. The one thing I will say for advice on gaming on a large screen is get a better desk ffs! I have a large desk that sits 30" high 29" deep so i get to sit further away plus it has a pedestal sits up another 7" with the tv legs the bottom of tv starts at 38" so my head sits about the middle of tv (i'm 6'3")at about 29" away from screen which is still prob too close for eyes but perfect for me. I love it. Also helps to put it on a warm setting at night.

It is compared to some TVs that do the same thing. There is a PC Master Race tax that is creeping into the monitor world. TVs are getting to be better price/performance with no compromise. Even input lag is getting to be as good or better than monitors.

Just lame review aye.
@cataria39035 жыл бұрын
@jetpil0t it would have been interesting to see if the low latency hardware chip marketing is refering to sth, that gets skipped or so and done on the gpu instead, isn't that part of the original freesync 2 design. because the word "low latency hardware chip" a chip to reduce input lag, is bullshit, what they would mean is fast processing in the display, which would be great of course, but then u can't have stupid marketing around it :D we will see once we get reviews, i hope hardware unboxed will look into freesync 2 and if it makes any difference. :) or the many other reviewers. but yeah my first thought of input lag reducing chip was "yeah right u marketing idiots think we have no idea about displays hm?", which granted is true for 99.9% of people who will buy this display :/

10:13 why AMD? Doesn't this monitor work properly with Nvidia? They support Freesync now, don't they? Did you test that (since not all monitors work equally good with them)? At the same time though, I think what I'd really want is a videocard with an HDMI 2.1 port and just get an LG 55" OLED that also does 120Hz and supports Variable Refresh Rate. If you think it's too big, it's only 28% bigger than this monitor, just put it 28% further away... I have a 23.8" monitor myself and I have it on an arm pretty close to me (it hangs over my keyboard). I measured it, it's 49 cm away. To effectively have the monitor in this video be the same size in my view, it would have to be 88.5 cm away. A 55" TV would have to be 113 cm away. That's not too much of a stretch if you mount it on your wall and have a reasonably deep desk (which is nice anyway so you can stretch your legs a bit without hitting the wall). I could already do that on my current desk. And I don't even experience my monitor as too big or close yet at all, it could be bigger, so I'd actually need less distance. Only drawback on the OLED would be if you do a lot of desktop work with the same user interface on the screen all the time (burnin).

I have had a 40" Korean monitor for over 5 years now (4K 10-bit 4:4:4 Chroma) and it was the 2ed best choice I ever made buying a monitor. My favorite monitor would still be a 22" NEC monitor from 15+ years ago. Had it running 1600x1200 @90Hz for daily use (the max 1920x1440 was too much for Windows XP and most games didn't scale GUI either) and played competitive online FPS games at 1280x1024 @110Hz. I'll wait for a ~40" 4K HDR10 120Hz monitor that doesn't reduce Chroma for daily desktop use at 120Hz, as I don't play competitively anymore and use my PC for productivity. But maybe a slight curve that's not really noticable would be nice, when a screen is that big you have to refocus your eyes when looking from center to sides/corners. But that might be healthy for your eyes anywho.

You may need a colorimeter to get the settings right. If its 'searing' into your retina, chances are the brightness is too high. Default settings on displays are usually set too high. Ideally get it down to around 140 cd/m with a colorimeter and it should be OK.
