@glutts you're probably getting thermal throttled so maybe undervolting is the answer. Check out video on undervolting the G16 as there are tons of guides that will help you get the best of your laptop for sure

@@jojuliet you 100% need to spend some time with adjusting the settings.. 100% need to remove armory crate and myasus, and get g-helper. This is not playable-from-the-box. I run rdr2 on max settings, and it heat CPU ~90c, GPU ~80c, and causes shut downs. Additionaly, good cooling pad is must have. He have 2 air cooling direction, main - vertical down, and horizontal behind, not every cooling pad is going to work with that laptop. With all this dances, now i have 70-75c degrees on rdr2 ultra with g helper and cooling pad. It is good hardware laptop, but software is really trash. I keep it, and hope he doesnt be a problem no more. I was having G15 2021 ryzen5900+3050ti, he is still working good, so i think its good laptops. 8/10 my rate

Hey thanks for the comment! Fan is honestly not bad when doing daily tasks. The loudest I've heard it go was with black myth and VR (let that sink in for a sec on this slim device) but for less demanding games or daily usage like 4K video watching, it's near silent. The keyboard is my favourite to type on for a windows device. Must be an Asus think but I prefer this keyboard over my Alienware laptop keys. You'll love it. Trust me. Edit: I saw you mentioned you wanted to record audio, I don't think it'll be a problem but I suggest getting a shotgun mic or a lavalier mic that is placed closer to your mouth so that you get the crispiest voice possible 👌

If you're coming from a mac air. I hope you know the implications of buying a gaming laptop ? Its gonna be a bit heavier and a hotter. I suggest you keep your macbook as a portable daily. Then use the g14/g16 for gaming. If you want a bigger screen go for the G16 but just know itll be heavier. Screen Quality you shouldnt worry, it looks great. Plus youll get better temps and performance from the G16. I would only advice the G14 if you want it as a daily and are gonna be carrying it everywhere.

Can you give a little more insight to the display comparison? Which is brighter in sdr and hdr? How much sharper is the 4K panel when you factor in a reasonable windows scaling option? You surely cannot work in 100%. That's highly depending on personal preference, I know, but is there even a scaling option that enables to see more content while being usable on a daily basis as well? I have a QHD 16" portable second monitor and everything is pretty small already imo. What about OLED fringing? Do these panels have the same layout and is frinding less noticeable on the 4K (especially light text on dark ground)? What about 4K streaming content? Do you notice a drastic difference in picture clarity from 1m away on the P16? Thanks! ❤

@@roxgofy8172 hey thanks for the note! I love the G14 and use it around the house a lot and whenever I travel on the weekends like camping or to the cottage. The screen is still 100% and the performance hasn't changed, I did ding the corner of the body which left a bit of a ding so I'd be very careful with how you hold this thing coz the shell is a tad bit soft around the edges. I still got mine, I use it a ton and it's the one I started out with! Hope this helps. Thanks,🙏

zero chance you're getting 5-6 hours of gaming/heavy workloads on battery lol. You're getting 30 minutes realistically at 80%-0 with gpu running 50w and cpu running 10-20w.

Sorry took a while. Yes of course! It’s an NVIDIA feature that definitely worth using! Once you’re playing the game, the action is so fast that you won’t notice the frame generation artifacts. Just have fun!

Because it's so slim, the impact of the screen is greater on the G14 in my opinion. Plus the PPI (pixels per inch) is greater on the G14 since you're packing all those pixels on a smaller space.

Hey; yeah for sure. I've got the 4060 on my 14inch G14 but its display is the same as the G16. Once i was able to undervolt the 4060 to prevent thermal throttling, i was able to play AAA games no problem OVER 60fps; this is after tweaking. So the G16 with a 4060 will be no problem especially for casual gaming. For college use like documents, presentations etc, you'll be able to do your entire college course with this laptop alone. What’s the difference between this laptop and the M16? I’m still learning about laptops.

At first glance, the design itself is from 2023 so I guess a design refresh with a metallic body plus slimmed down to nearly half the M16 is new. Another difference is OLED on the newest G16 vs the MINI LED on the M16 - this is preferential thing and some dont like to think about burn in. Other than that, maybe if performance is what youre after, the M16s might be a better deal if you can swipe one on sale!

whats the longevity looking like for this laptop? I want to be able to get at least 7+ years out of it, I had a 2022 g14 that just started rebooting randomly whenever it was off the charger and using the battery. made sure I took care of it and cleaned it regularly so i am a bit paranoid about finding a replacement. mainly looking to use it for school/work and gaming.

That’s fair. Longevity is definitely something even I value because I keep my stuff. It seems recent iterations of laptops have been good in my opinion. I’ve had a few asus devices like the Z13, P16, G14, G16 with the G14 being my almost daily carry, it’s been good. Just came back from camping, was warm and then cool weather and the G14 handled it just fine. YMMV but definitely goes a long way when you take care of your stuff which you already 👍

I have a G14 2020, use it full time docked to a monitor, i want to upgrade but can't decide between which device each with 4070/AMD, In australia, G14 $3700, the G16 is $5100 and P16 is $4500. $600 price difference. Any advice?

Sorry I took a while; if it’s full time docked, I would go with the g14 tbh. Because when you need to leave, it’ll be as easy as carrying a super portable device. The G16 is also good if you will utilize that screen as a secondary screen on your desk. I would strictly just stay within these two IF you are into gaming in anyway! Otherwise; if you are only using for creative, ProArt all the way because using that OLED in 4K as a secondary monitor for work is simply amazing.

I tend to keep it simple and use Steams Overlay feature. While in game, press down Shift + Tab and you can view the settings to add this feature.

have an older one of the versions I have now the older 2024 version with rtx 4080 gpu intel core ultra 9 cpu and 32gb ram and I’m already having problems with it for the immersion factor and buttery smoothness I put it at 240 hz on the display in the windows 11 settings software and the game literally runs like a console not buttery smooth and immersive at all on lets say a game which I tried forza horizon 4 for example on steam

Sorry for the late reply; don’t worry about burn in. Just be mindful and set your screen settings to dim every few minutes to prevent it. I’ve got multiple multiple oleds in my house and none of my portables have suffered burn in yet.
