Great review, It is annoying how most review units are always top spec,(I don't blame you) I mean it's a smart move to showcase "the best" to make your brand look good, at the same time, how many people are really spending $3,000+ USD on a gaming laptop. I would guess the "average" person is looking for something from $1,000 low end to $2,000(USD) high end, I just want the best frames for the best value, I really do not do anything but game and surf the web. Many times IMO with gaming laptops, it feels like "thin and light", mobility, high CPU power, are the main focus of gaming laptops, that IMO is what makes a creators laptop, we all know for the best gaming performance in any demanding game, you need to be plugged in anyways, a gaming laptop, should be chunky if it improves thermals, it should have dual channel standard, it should have decent sound, and a good graphics card, that is the stuff gamers want to pay for, but that is just my guess as a long time gamer.

Nice review Jarrod, keep going! I think it is preferable to have more 3060 machines in the review because their price makes gives them a good price to value ratio. On the other hand a laptop for 2500 USD in comparison to a PC at same price or less (500 USD for monitor and keyboard) can't simply keep up in a gaming point of view. Therefore gamers could really benefit from a midrange laptop to have reasonable gaming performance and portability.

Be aware that the unit you are talking about is going on two years old now so unless it is an exceptional deal I'd wait for next gen. thank you for the video, would you be considering making a video specific to Linux for 2022 recommending 3 best laptops for examples ?
@JarrodsTech2 жыл бұрын
I have a laptop from a company that sells Linux machines here now, will do a video comparing gaming between it and Windows or similar, but probably not enough to do a comparison like that.
@jda48872 жыл бұрын
@@JarrodsTech yes it is a bit niche as games , tools aren't always available. I was asking this since you are dedicating a section of your laptop review to Linux compatibility and it is for me key to choose a laptop as I always dual boot.

My Razer Blade 17 2022 was great on Linux. The newer kernels fixed pretty much every issue Jarrod had when he had it (mine is the 1440p 240 hz screen, the only one with G-Sync & advanced optimus), however, I cannot get the screen to go above 60 hz in either X11 or Wayland in Plasma 5.24.5, Xfce, or GNOME 42, even in EndeavorOS. Everything else is golden though. And there is a version of the Blade 15 (from 2021) that runs Linux out of the box. So I do expect more companies to follow suit. I actually returned a Lenovo Legion 7 for many reasons, but one was speakers still not working even in 2022...

Hello Jarrod. Thank you for the detailed and helpful video. I'm considering buying a RTX 3070 laptop and currently have 2 options to choose from: The A15 3070 variant (1460MHz/140W max) and the AORUS 5 SE4 (1620 MHz/130W max). I don't know which one of these 2 is better, the higher clock speed one or the higher power one, and I'm curious about this difference, does maximum graphics power not usually go hand in hand with clock speed? Can you explain for me?

Hi, I'm currently looking at a A15 RTX 3070 on special for about $1800 AUD ($1,147.54 USD) and I was just checking to see if you ended up getting the A15 and you think it's worth it. Thanks!

Can't wait for the 2023 review! The 4070 model with qhd 165hz screen is pretty good in price in my country (translates to about 1600usd) Should be a good upgrade from the 2021 model with 3070 95w TGP.

I'm really interested on buying this laptop in Indonesia, because r5 2500u laptop struggles running code. But sadly the 3050 is overpriced in my country, its about 1300 usd. I don't mind the bad screen color gamut as I don't use it for content creation or similar workload, but losing a lot of Wh of battery and performance on the 3060 one is the huge deal breaker for me.

Had purchased an Asus F15 with an i5 and gtx 1650 graphics. Been loving it. Asus just makes it so simple yet full of features at an affordable price. Never had any problems. However I have started having several issues ever since I upgraded it to windows 11. Which I feel like is the problem with the os itself

@AdityaGupta-om8ez2 жыл бұрын
I feel like DDR 5 must have added costs to se extent. However, it's actually quite more expensive than it should be. Maybe it's just due to it being a new product
@bugbuster85982 жыл бұрын
Hey, Jarrod! Great video as always, though I have a suggestion. When showing your game benchmarks, I feel like new category could be a fine addition. How about showing benchmarks of machines with same or similar specs only? For example laptops with RTX 3070ti and 3070. With such benchmarks, anyone looking for one laptop with such specs could make decisions easier
@JarrodsTech2 жыл бұрын
I usually add laptops that are similarly specced to get an idea of how they all perform. I also think it's useful to include a few popular models of different specs to see how much of a difference there is.
@bugbuster85982 жыл бұрын
@@JarrodsTech Yeah, I just meant same/similar GPUs with different wattage maybe, to see if there is some crucial difference in frames. Right now the biggest hap I've seen is around 20 frames and that only when comparing bulky bois like GP66 with pretty sleek designs.
