Which laptop would you pick? 👀 check current prices and deals below 👇 ASUS TUF A15: geni.us/RSrxbsX Lenovo Legion 5: geni.us/wK1Ke Some people getting real mad about the conclusion lol. If you're about to buy it, just remember: most of them have the game problem: due to poor thermal pads some of which are not thick enough, 1-2 VRAM chips got to work without proper cooling, and eventually burn out in a year or two. So it's a MUST to bring it to a service and replace the stock thermal pads. And when I say it's a must I really mean it. I've seen exactly the same problem in 5 out of 5 legions. @JarrodsTech Do you think the A15 witb 6800H and 3070 would be a better option than with 3060? (Assuming I found a good deal money wise) I'm conscious about thermal throttling becoming more of an issue even with my cooling pad with that and ultimately resulting in worse (or at least less consistent performance)
@evencrackey Жыл бұрын
3070 performs just slightly better but not really that noticeable as what Jarrod did last time when testing both gpus. So if we are talking about something of a good deal, money wise, then my personal choice would still be the 3060 over the 3070 (unless if it's a 3070ti then that gpu will outmatch the 3060). If you are only concern with performance then just go for a higher end 3080ti or 3090 instead.

I would personally recommend legion 5 , being a owner of the two (older version of tuf fx504gm ) and right now a legion 5 2021 user the build quality and reliability of the legion is far better than tuf series.. It's true the tuf lasted 3 year for me but cost me 12.5% of the laptops value in repairs but asus service is super friendly and good.. now down one year with the legion had no over heating issue or any other problems that I had with my tuf during its time..

Lol, i just bought a a17 2022 Tuff. Comparing it with my earlier legion 17 inch Y920, which is a beast (heavy) to pick up it's so much lighter and smaller, and the legion had so much issues, multiple send backs, and then crashed the gpu after two years, and Lenovo just leaves you in the cold. I'm happy to have this one. Yes, a bit less (different) ports, but it's still much quieter, although i did see when checking the software it seems a bit warmer yes. I'll just use a cooler underneath, witch i also used with the legion.... Also my Asus has a 3070 gpu for the same price as that legion 5 you showed..... My first laptop was an Asus, and i really used it over it's limits without failing me, it has even dropped twice on the ground in my backpack. And it's still working. So i decided to go for Asus again. I hope it will serve me well as the previous one and not like the legion one

I recently got a Omen 16 2022 Advantage Edition laptop with 6650M and it's excellent. I was deciding between Omen 16 AE, Legion 5 6600M/3060 and TUF A15 3060 like in this video and ended up going for the Omen. Being the 2022 model it's the fastest with 6650M and it was somehow cheapest. Got it in Diwali sale for about 200 bucks cheaper than A15 and 400 bucks cheaper than the Legion 5. It's also got Smart Access Graphics which is basically auto MUX. Smartshift Max also works very well the GPU gets up to 130 watts of juice because of it while dGPUs top out at 115w on the Omen 16. Temps are great as well, GPU max 78 degrees and CPU max 86 degrees while gaming. I've played Metro Exodus Enhanced Edition and Dota 2 on it yet, even handles RT better than expected, was able to play Metro on 1080p Ultra preset with High RT and RT Reflections at about 70fps, without any sort of upscaling. Battery life is also great at around 8-9 hours. These AE laptops are quite amazing.

you see... i might've considered getting TUF if not for the trauma i bought TUF 4 years ago (i5 8th gen, 1050ti) and it has problem right off the box. It would stutter/ have mini freeze constantly even when you're just watching video, HDD problem (i've swapped to ssd), and bluescreen out of nowhere (still happening every now and then). I ended up going to the service center a lot in those 2 years warranty period (i think about 7 times). Glad to see them improve TUF over the years, but I would personally go with Legion. It's the standard 165Hz refresh rate. :) I don't think any 165-240Hz refresh rate displays actually came out for the Legion 5(i) Pro/Legion 7(i) this year - even though Lenovo advertised that option from day 1. As for OC'ing your refresh rate, you may get 1-2 Hz before flickering or black screens if you're lucky.

I don't really care about interal thermals as long as it's still performing well. I've never experienced a laptop be so hot I couldn't physically use it (and never had it effect the surface it's on). My reviews confirm this in the thermals section.

Great comparison, I was needing this vid as I was thinking on buying a new laptop this xmas. The short commings of the TUF are mostly neglectable since Ill be using external screen&keyboard&mouse anyway, at least my greatest worry would be the less quality, lower color gamut screen if I did not have the external one, and Ive never used a usc type-c in my life anyway, so having only 1 instead of 3 means nothing. I was just worried with the slower ssd Gen and the dual Ram, but thanks to your tests I can see it does not affect game performance, and actually the TUF got better GPU score. Additionaly, if I were to connect the laptop to ethernet, definitely the lenovo position is way better, but I dont even currently have an ethernet cable in my room, so another neglectable con. Just thank you so much for the review I was going insane trying to analyze these small difference in my head. On paper the TUF should be worst because of the ram and ssd gen, but its not! So now I will be relaxed when just choosing whatever is cheapest and available on my country.
