4:50 What do you mean when you say you were "blown away by its speed"... did you upgrade your switch as well and connected to a NAS or something that was also on a 10 gig NIC? If not, and your switch was only GbE... it auto-negotiated just that, so no different from you old card.

I actually upgraded my network at the same time to a blended 1G/10G and have a Synology NAS and an older Drobo on the 10G portion with my PC. That data transfer is incredibly quick and saves me a ton of time with transferring files.

Is there any Mac compatibility?

I learned almost nothing from listening to this, much like reading an advertisement.

Thanks for the snarky comment and you actually did learn a few things if you were paying attention. You saw a complete unboxing and now know that the card can speed-sense through 5 levels, uses a PCI-e connection and provides 2 brackets to make mounting easy. Aside from actually tearing the PC board apart, I'm not sure what more I could do in the review. Please do us all a favor and create a more compelling review of the card and post it on your channel so we can all grade your efforts. Light a candle instead of cursing the darkness.

@@GadgetHero1 Telling us what NIC chipset is being used would be a start. Various Firewall Appliances (and NAS appliances) are very picky about what NIC's are supported (based on chipset - realtek bad, intel good, others depends), is this one of those cards, who knows. Maybe link to the FULL Spec's would be handy. Sure, you had a nice fluffy 5.5 minute video (you are after all an influencer), but it was pretty light on anything regarding real info. Did you run speed tests - lots of knockoffs claim to be 10G, but fall way short. I just skimmed your video (I don't have 5 minutes to hear basically nothign more then it's a 10Gbase-T card with full and short slot covers), I don't think you even plugged it into anything - you just regurged the sales brochure.

Tom, you have to realize that these clips and overviews are free. Content creators like me spend a lot of our free time researching, testing, filming and editing content to try and help explain tech to others. This clips was a short unboxing and overview clip. It was designed to help the average viewer understand what the ASUS Network card provided and what came in the package, nothing more. If I spent the time installing it on camera, loading the driver. testing the network speeds and all of the other million things I could have done with the card that would have been a different clip. I can't be everything to everybody with these videos so I'm sorry if it missed the mark for you but a lot of folks seemed to have enjoyed it and it hit the mark for them. My only suggestion is maybe spend some of your time contributing to the body of knowledge around this tech instead of complaining about what you think is missing. I hope you had a great holiday.

If a video is 3 minutes long and gets 50000 views but contains useless content, then it has wasted 104 days of human productivity. That's approaches committing treason against humanity.

It's great that you can do basic math, but ou really need to get out more. That logic is flawed since every person has a choice to watch or not watch the clip. Many folks watched it and found value in it. You obviously didn't enjoy it, and that's fine. The beauty here is that it cost you nothing to view the clip and if one person found it useful, it was worth the effort for me.

In order to take advantage of the higher speeds the router/switch would also have to be upgraded. The weakest link in the chain will drop the speed.
@GadgetHero1 Жыл бұрын
Yep, I upgraded from 100m to the 1G a while back and it was an expensive project. My current switches have (2) 10G ports that I use between my PC and my Synology NAS for faster transfers.

@@GadgetHero1- Right but the average user for simple web browsing and a couple of IoT's won't need anything over 1G speed, heck even 100M will do for most. Of course if you're running an internal network especially with NAS then yet this makes sense,

I think I'll get one - it comes with a nice drink coaster.
@GadgetHero1 Жыл бұрын
LOL, I haven't heard that one in quite a while and actually used CD's and DVD's as coasters back in the day. They always left a tiny circle on the desk where the coffee leaked through the center.

Hold on. This card has a faulty Windows driver and this is well known on the internet and even with my own experience. I have a 10 gbps switch and this card wont be able to stay at 10 gbps link due to the driver. Linux version works fine though. Once he gets a 10 Gbps switch, he will probably make another video on how shitty this card really is.
@GadgetHero1 Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the post but there are updated drives available for the card and by the time I upgrade my networking to 10G, I'll have a new PC that will include the card.

This card doesn't work with windows 11. Often doesn't start on startup. Works one day and not the next. Any one have suggestions?
