***** so here's what I bought so far. I7 4790k, asus z97 a mobo, Gigabyte gtx 970 g1, g skill trident x 2400, and cool master 212 mobo fan. I still have to order corsair 750w modular, Seagate 1tb hdd, crucial 256 gig ssd, win 8.1, and a case for about 100$. I am ordering in a day or two so hopefully by this weekend I can build:D I can't wait as its my 1st build.

***** that's the only thing I'm unsure of yet. I'm pretty sure I want a full atx. I want a red, black and white theme. Maybe just red and black but if I find a cool white case I'll put white in it too. I wanted to get a white 200$ corsair but only have about 500$ left for those last parts. So that leaves 100$ for a case. I found this one but idk anything about in win. geb.ebay.in/g/ImportHubViewItem?itemid=291330723363&IN-WIN-707-BLACK-Black-SECC-ATX-Full-Tower-Computer-Case-ATX-12V-PSll-Size-and

Great video. My main system was destroyed by an Antec HCP-1300 warranty replacement PSU. So until I can rebuild my system, I'm thinking on getting this board to build a simple, basic, backup computer until I build a newer system this summer with the new 2011v3 10 core processor and Pascal video cards soon to be released. I hope Asus comes out with a newer x99 Rampage VI Extreme board in 2016.

I'm properly impressed myself, got the elusive 5 gig screenshot on a board like this. Seems Asus is going to be the brand to beat this time around again. Also I noticed there was a reading in the BIOS for the DMI/PEG frequency. Are they going to give us control over that again? It would be nice if hey can let us overclock the entire system and not just the CPU and memory.

Is a Z97-A + 4790K + GTX 960 at 4GB good?
@Prepaidist8 жыл бұрын
+Texas_boy_ vs_NYC the 960 probably doesn't have the bandwidth to produce textures as well as a 970 does despite both being 4 GB. (970 is actually 3.5) I'd just stick with a 970, if you can bump up your budget. Or go for the i5 4690k + 970.
@Xielent8 жыл бұрын
+Texas_boy_ vs_NYC If you got the extra money I would go with the r9 390 over the 970. If you are looking at the 960 then I would suggest you look towards AMD's 380 or 380x as they outperform the 960 at the same price range. If you are just gaming, go with the 4690k. If you are gaming and editing. The Z97-A and 4790K will treat you well. I have mine overclocked to 4.7Ghz.
@kauaigold8 жыл бұрын
+Jordaan Ran Radeon for years, definately not a "fanboy" of Nvidia but I think just based on reviews/benchmarks i'd go 970 over r9390. Both are veeerrrry similar in real world testing performance but the r9390 runs way hot (allegedly) for whatever reason so that pretty much takes OC out of the equation. Personally, bang for the buck, Id probably go 970 and OC it up near 980 specs before settling for a r9390. If I had to stick with radeon then maybe r9390x, gives you a few more future-proof months but still heat is a problem.
@kauaigold8 жыл бұрын
+Texas_boy_ vs_NYC I just got that board installed with a 4790k and its running a stable OC at 4.5ghz at 1.34volts. No heat issues, no glitches, STABLE. Using the built in ASUS OC tool that came with the board is totally idiot proof. Id definately spend a bit more for a 970 though, you wont see it crap out in ANY game running at 1080p on high/very high settings. Theres a reason such a HUGE market share leans toward 970, bang for the buck best card you can get. I got a 980 ti and I think its way overkill for 1080p. If I could do it again i'd go 970.

+LennySteak ROGs are meant to be OC'd these less expensive boards "can" be OC'd but for the best results you'd aim for Sabertooth or ROG. Thats basically the only reason, plus on the Sabertooth and ROG boards come with "better" quality versus the other boards from Asus.

I thought that Devil's canyon is the refresh, guess i was wrong. Thanks for information.
@CrossplatformGamerMasterRace10 жыл бұрын
Devil Canyon is basically Haswell Refresh but with a improved thermal interface. The problem with Haswell is that they put the voltage control on the CPU and it's caused thermal issues, so it's rumoured to be made optional, upgraded or replaced with something else.
@mustarastas8810 жыл бұрын
Didn't they upgrade thermal compound on Devil's canyon so it should be more cooler than Haswell. Well, i just got Z97-A and until the K-model of 4690 arrives my old I5-4430 has to go.
