I do like that we can do this in UEFI (fan speeds etc). I have to say though that having AI Suite whilst actually in windows, is the best. So good. Speshly thermal tuning. great vid guys!!! I just watched at 3:10 and My mouse is all over the place and not steady. My MB was remanufactured from Asus and was one of the very first versions of the USB3.1 A series in 2014. Upgrading the Bios to 3503 made a world of difference. This is the best video I can find and I hope that even though it is an old thread, someone can help Me. Happy New Year

I am running a similar setup, 16gb 1600mhz ram, 3.5ghz/3.9ghz turbo xeon 1241 v3 (haswell refresh). asus z97-a, 128gb ssd for boot. 1TB SSHD for mass storage. GTX 970 Gpu.. Loving this rig, just built it last week. Have fun!

Adam Dorland, Hi! I finished my build last night and have a question. I would like my ssd for boot. But I have a question. Do I need to unplug HDD or is there way to boot from SSD without unpluging it? Thanks

Patrik Blazeit Start with just your SSD plugged in, it will make things easier. Then go into your bios, and into advanced mode. You will find a boot menu, boot options, or something of that nature, select your SSD and move it to the top of the list, or make sure it is the primary drive selected for your boot up. Then after you install your OS and get everything worked out add your second HDD. That is how I did it, I booted off of a USB flash drive with windows 7 installed though, then after installing to the SSD I was able to use it without any complications. It is a HUGE performance upgrade over a standard HDD. Good luck!

My new Z97-A would launch this bios screen randomly on boot (or reboot) without me hitting any keys. I also had a problem with the onboard graphics which would display approx 1970x1130 instead of 1920x1080 leaving portions of the tray and desktop shortcuts off screen. On boot I would see the ASUS boot screen. If it was 5 seconds I would wind up in Win7. If it was displayed 12 seconds I would wind up in the bios. Also sometimes the bottom line of the ASUS boot screen would be half way off of the bottom of my display and sometimes it would be normal. I am using a Samsung Syncmaster and have used it with other systems with no problems. The Z97 is on it's way back to the vendor (not ASUS) for warranty work.

Do I need to change any settings for the fans If I am using PWM fans as opposed to DC fans. I plan on using 5 Noctua NF F12 PWM fans with a Z97-Pro Wifi ac NVM I did not watch the whole thing before commenting

Hey, this might be kind of lengthy but was wondering if you might know the answer to this. Currently I have an ASUS Z97M Plus Motherboard and I am running Windows 8, however I wish to dual boot to run Ubuntu 16.04 as well. I have partitioned my Hard Drive and have created a boot-able USB device with Ubuntu currently installed on it. I have also disabled fast start-up. I have looked for tutorials on KZbin with respect to how I should change the boot order however, the original video I watched with regards to dual booting did not have this step and said he did not include this step because every motherboard has a different BIOS/UEFI. I also found that there may be some things that I need to disable but I am not sure which and I don't to take the risk of screwing something up along the way by missing out on steps that were not showed in tutorials that I have watched. Mainly what I am looking for help on is; how to properly change the boot order with my current motherboard/UEFI/BIOS so that I can boot into my USB and what settings I need to change/disable. Additionally Questions: 1) For anyone that has dual booted; are there any consequences or negatives to doing so. 2) After I install Ubuntu do I need the USB plugged in at all times or can I boot from my hard drive. I understand this is not a dual boot tutorial but was wondering if you would know what steps I have to take to do so i.e, Do I disable secure boot, what order do I put things in etc. Thanks

Wait, hold on, how'd oyu change that ration?!?!? that was the ONE thing i went looking for in this video and i couldn't tell exactly what you did. Do you just highlight it and type in the new number? I thought i had tried that but nothing happened. I'm running at a 4480 mhz through mucking about with all the easy tuning crap, but i'd rather have direct control of where it's set. Also, what's that XMP thing, i saw you had multiple profiles but i get nothing when i click on it.

Kraft Lawrence Yeah you should just be able to type in the ratio. For XMP that sets the timings etc for your memory. Your memory has to have XMP profiles to use it

Ahh, okay, thanks. It was just a little weird witht he ratio thing, usually you expect a cursor or prompt or something when you're in a field where you can type. Since i didn't see anything like that i just derped for some reason.

I contacted asus and they told me that memory can only be allocated to on-board graphics and not a separate gpu. Not sure if this is 100% correct or not as I have seen videos on other bios systems, with people allocating ram to an external gpu.

3 questions: 1. is 1000 volts normal for the CPU? Lol. 2. It says that there is an error with the CPU fan, but the CPU temp lies on 26 degrees, what may be wrong? 3. I have 2400 MHz ram sticks, but it says that they are running on 1333 mhz, what may the problem be? Hope you reply ^^

Your CPU voltage should be around 1 volt.. 1000 volt should have burned it straight away. If your motherboard only support up to 1333mhz RAM that means that that is the max possible speed, even if the RAM-sticks themselves potentielly could run faster

and if there is a CPU fan error, try to reapply it, because it may not sit on top of the socket properly

After I bought Asus z97-p Motherboard, I CAN'T reinstall windows without DELETING my disk. Everytime I want to reinstall the windows, it says, that "Windows Cannot Be Installed to This Disk. The Selected Disk Has an MBR Partition Table. On EFI Systems, Windows Can Only Be Installed to GPT" Can I SOMEHOW reformat my Disk from MBR to GPT without DELETING ALL THE DATA??

There are 3 free programs to convert MBR to GPT. Only AMOEI Partition Assistant can do it without losing the existing data.

+George A (alphajojo) By turning your PC off from the start menu, many ASUS motherboards keep sending power to the keyboard and mouse after PC is off, it's completely normal. If you just turn off your monitor the PC is still running and will of course send power to your USB devices.

when im going to change the motherboard mode from normal to gaming/multimedia and press save and exit the pc restarts but the screen remains black...i went in bios and i saw that in boot priority my ssd is missing thats why the screen remains black...so i changed it to normal mode.do you know what can i do to be able to work the motherboard in gaming mode?

AttacksPlays It is not a phone, to factory reset you have to reinstall the OS with the installation DVD, formatting the HDD with it and reinstalling
