I've had this phone for a couple of months. The audio really does depend which EQ mode you have, there is no way to turn EQ off. I like the game EQ best. I'm having some issues with the Vodafone network in Australia (receiving text multiple times, lagging data) that I don't get from other networks, but apart from those minor niggles it's a solid handset.

Hi Juan. I've long loved your reviews. As something of an Asus fan (I'm living and working in Taiwan so I like supporting a local Taiwanese company) let me first say THANK YOU for reviewing this phone! So far I've only seen one other review for this phone (Techno Buffalo) on the major tech blogs I usually follow. I've owned this phone for about two months, and I simply can't understand why other phones (like Huawei and OnePlus) have gotten so much love, while this phone is treated like an old children's toy gathering dust in a closet. Personally, I think this phone is at least as good, if not better, than other phones at this price range. Although it's not Quad HD, the Super AMOLED 5.7-inch display is one of this phone's finest features. As much as I like the LG V20 and HTC 10, I have a hard time buying anything without an AMOLED display anymore. Also, not many phones have 6GB of RAM. (I think this phone was the first. Or at least the second.) The camera may not be at the very top, but it's still quite excellent, with a 23mp Sony sensor, dual tone LED flash, OIS and EIS, and a sapphire lens cover. (No more cracked glass like on the Nexus 6P or LG V20.) I also like the capacitive buttons on the front which maximizes screen real estate at all times, making the 5.7 inch screen size appear even larger at times. (And Juan, I really think you are nitpicking about those capacitive buttons. Are you seriously complaining over the fact that you feel they are one or two millimeters too low? Really? I use this phone one-handed all the time, and have never dropped it. I use my pinky to balance, which is common on any larger phone.) Juan, in your video you also asked what makes this phone special. I'd say three things: the vibrant and large 5.7-inch Super AMOLED display, the quality specs with 6gb of RAM, and, yes, the build quality. It is very thin and oozes high quality with a premium metal build quality and design. You criticized it for not being very exciting, (which beauty, as you said, is subjective) but it's certainly nice to hold and look at nonetheless. The back is simple and elegant and NOT a fingerprint magnet. It also won't crack the first time you drop it. And the shiny spun concentric circles design on the front (and surrounding the camera lens) give it at least a little bit of panache. Finally, the software. Of course, many people complain about it, but I'll tell you one thing I really like about the Asus Zen UI: the massive amount of customization options! You can customize everything, from themes to icon packs down to the color of the icon font! As an Android fan, I love having customization options. Anyway, as a user of this phone, I can recommend it. Is it the best thing since sliced bread? No. But it's still a mighty fine phone (especially for the price) that deserves A LOT more love than it's getting.

So glad to hear you've been enjoying it. I can't speak for other reviewers, but for us, we've been trying to review more Asus devices, but it often comes down to which regions Asus will be supporting. The only other Zenfone i've handled is the Zoom, and we got this Deluxe CRAZY later than other folks.
@MAFz78 жыл бұрын
Steven James DeBlasi The only reason makes people choose other phones over Zenfone 3 Deluxe is because this phone is not available in all regions, the 'Special Edition' was announced and forgotten not available anywhere for sale, otherwise it would be a great phone based on its specs.

JuanBagnell They do make good notebook PCs though, with excellent hardware designs and specs. Don't' know why it's been so hard for them to make a good phone. My guess is their engineers haven't yet quite gotten a grasp on the Android OS and thus, the right firmware to make use of it.

I'm pretty sure my next flagship phone will be asus. Moreover they offer super nice add on featured like keyboard skins and other type of skins and awesome wallpapers. Really, if the camera was better, the asus phone I have now would be better than the galaxy s7 edge I came from (I broke it).
@supertigerman0138 жыл бұрын
So this is basically OnePlus 3T which costs 60 bucks more but comes with bloated UI, shorter battery life and worse audio quality. No thanks lol
@PeeHooo8 жыл бұрын
Asus supports faster mobile connections: LTE-A 3CA and Cat 12. It has microSD support. It has bigger screen while only being slighty larger. Better camera, bigger sensor. USB port is 3.0 insted of 2.0. Dual SIM Full Active (DSFA) support. There are upsides to Asus as well.
@supertigerman0138 жыл бұрын
PeeHooo OP3T has the more consistent and accurate fingerprint scanner and the camera on Zenfone 3 DX is quite average especially under a low-light condition due to its sensor's tiny 1.0μm pixel size, which means that the sensitivity to the light is lower compared to the sensor used on OP3T when the same ISO setting is used. The position of the capacitive buttons on Z3DX are too low for many people and despite having a shorter battery life it takes longer time to recharge. MicroSD card support is certainly a big plus on the Z3DX, but other than that the pros you listed are pretty minor ones and I don't think they can make up for all the cons it has...
@ashtonleo14188 жыл бұрын
+superiorlion015 Zenfone 3 Deluxe has a better camera sensor
@supertigerman0138 жыл бұрын
Ashton Leo Not really, IMX318 on Z3DX has smaller pixels compared to IMX298 used inside OP3T(1.0μm vs 1.12μm), which means Z3DX performs somewhat better in daylight since it has higher megapixel count(though the detail level really depends on the post-processing as well) but it falls behind OP3T when there is not enough light available for the sensor. Using a bigger sensor just doesn't mean it is better.
@ashtonleo14188 жыл бұрын
+superiorlion015 Those are just on-paper specs The Zenfone 3 Deluxe camera performs better than the Zenfone 3(which has the same IMX298 sensor as the OnePlus 3) It's a high end sensor designed only for flagships and so far is used only in this phone

Of all the pros he mentioned there are a few cons as well.. FIrmware update is 2-3months apart even on valid bugs.. No stock music app installed. quick charge only works with stock charger and no other... LED capacitive buttons are not always on you cant see it in the dark.. Camera is laggy and shutter is not sync when you press to shoot it lags results in blur image No continuous auto focus.. NO VoLTE NO Wifi-calling and no video-call supports in the USA carriers so Beware!! Band 12 LTE is not functional but it is there, due to lack of certification with tmobile.. Lists goes on and remind you update is 2-3months apart.. ASUS customer service is way far than other companies they work around with the problem instead of working to solve it.

Honestly, I don't understand who would buy this phone at the listed price. Anyone who even knows it exists would probably rather opt for something like the OnePlus 3T, ZTE Axon 7, or HTC 10. Heck, you could probably find a used S7 for around $500. You would have to be a *huge* Asus fanboy to justify buying this phone.

Andrew Spads LOL used S7 is like 300 around here. 500??

this phone supprts Cat12 600mbps LTE with 6gb of ram.. the only $500 that suppost that not even s7 that only support 400 cat9 and 4gb ram .. and also this phone support 3 carrier aggregation and 256qam so the price is about right for the specs you get.. zte axon 7 has 6gb for $499 but without 3 carrier aggregation.. I suggests look at the specs first before comparing =)

If this had a more minimal UI and was available on CDMA networks, I would be extremely tempted. Take Note, Asus.

So basicly... i guess it is safe to say that now we can review devices and say what is WRONG with them instead of saying what is right. As basicly every phone released is good for everyday use plus having MORE or LESS usefull stuff added.

Do not BUY ASUS Smartphones, all ASUS Smartphones has a BUG that eats up your Available ROM Storage. It doesn't matter if its a 32Gb or 64Gb. No matter how Big or huge your storage. it would eventually run out due to that Bug. Asus was not able to address this issue up to now.
@MAFz78 жыл бұрын
Knarf28 Coc If your device is rooted you can check deeply in system files what causing it maybe there a file generated that eating your storage, or you can fix it with a custom ROM (if there's any)

Seriously?!! What does the UI have anything to do with bloatwares??? Hate the bloatwares, not the UI. ZenUI launcher is a whopping 4.7 rating at 10M downloads in the playstore. That's UI.
