The G8 is a steal even more than the S10 but the lack of support in a year or two the S10 is better but I'm upgrading from my G8 to the Zenphone 8. Compact designs and features are key

This phone truly seems like the phone to get in 2021. Amazing hardware compared with great software in a smaller package. If they tweak the camera software a bit when they release it they truly have become the flagship killer of 2021. Great work Asus.

@@subramaniankannan6630 this morning at 8am it was at 90%, now at 1am it's 51% after being connected to a smart watch all day and occasionally earbuds as well. Not to mention at work I use mobile data which drains more. The battery isn't bad as everyone is saying, nor have I noticed my phone getting hot. The only honest complain I have with this phone is that it has a behind the screen fingerprint sensor which are inferior in speed and recognition compared to dedicated sensors.

Asus has seemingly nailed it with the Zenfone 8. The only thing missing is a telephoto camera even if just 2x. Waiting for it to be released in India.

The main camera can do lossless 2x zoom since it's 64 MP. Doing 2x zoom will result in a 16 MP photo which is still more than enough resolution

@@huagalaiphxia7922 3x zoom on a 64mp camera will absolutely beat 3x zoom on a 8mp camera, as the 64mp is scaled down to 16mp by default, so you can zoom 2x, without losing any quality, at 3x it still likely have better quality, as it has more pixels. Also, it is 599eur at minimum, what do you expect. imo if it had a micro SD card slot, it would be like the perfect phone.

Zenfone 7 pro - same scary softening issues as you mentioned. With Gcam installed you can make some pretty decent photos though. Thanks for the honest review!

Beautifully summed up in the review! I am on the lookout for a new phone and this phone - with its very reasonable size - hits the sweet spot. Unfortunately, I am also a hipster hippie kind of a person who loves to take a LOT of photos of random objects and doodads and the camera is a bit of a downer. Considering the price, would it be possible to compare its camera with the S20 FE? I understand that they are different segments but these two are squarely in my budget and I don't want to look at Chinese phones.

I went from a big heavy phone to a smaller Pixel 5 last year and as I have smaller hands, it's better for me. Truth be told, this phone sounds like it has everything to offer and for the price, it is pretty spectacular. I know the camera might not be a great as the Pixel 5, but for everyday use or apps that may help the camera, I think its very competitive, which we want to see. Its a shame LG has stopped, but maybe Asus might step into its place and drive more competition to give us consumers more choice. 👏👏👏👏

I was waiting for a replacement for my LG V40 and Essential PH1. This phone is it. My Essential PH1 is 5.8 inch, no wireless charging, only IP54 rating, no expandable storage so this is an upgrade. To this day my Essential phone camera is good enough so I have no complaints. Good job Asus.

I don't need the highest specs - why is it so complicated to get a palm sized phone that doesn't smooth out your skin and make you several shades lighter (as a person of color) than what you are?! IMO Nokia's older mid and upper range phones are great for this, but their user support is truly awful 😔

I've been searching for a good spec smaller phone for a few months now. My current one is a motorola E4 which is 5.7inch. great little phone but slowing down and missing that speed and smoothness of the latest models. I'm buying this zenfone after watching this review. Great phone at an incredible price and size. Acquired it on tuesday, I love it so far. This baby reminds me my old Samsung Galaxy Ace spartphone, because of carbon style cover, size and weight. It's a pleasure to finally not feel anymore the phone tapping your hip when going upstairs, or just folding down ! OK, battery flies away when a game is launched, same for the heat, but still, it is worth it.

Hi I am struggling to choose between s20fe 5g and asus zenfone 8. I mainly use it for watching youtube, taking call, use as GPS in my car and taking pictures/videos. They are similarly priced here in Australia. I want one with good cameras, and has decent battery to last me the whole day(s20fe has a larger battery, but a bigger screen to power, whereas the asus has a smaller screen, and a newer processor). S20fe comes with 6gb of Ram here in AU, and asus with 8gb of Ram. I have an Asus Max Pro 2, at the moment. The battery is fine, but after sales software updates is a concern for the Asus, and hoping it would be better with Samsung. The OS is clean for Asus, so it's a plus, but samsung comes with its security and other perks. Can you please help me choose? Please remember the camera and the battery life.

I love Bath except for rush hour traffic. Looking good when the weather is fine! Had bad experience withASUS so no thanks, but the design and form factor is great and right mix and match of specs with competitve pricing so def a worthy contender for the £500-600 price range if you are looking for a smaller phone.Cheers!

Right now, this looks like the only phone on the market close to my ideal specs: compact(ish) form factor, headphone jack, near-stock UI, notification LED, OIS. I'd prefer a lower spec (7xx) processor for a better battery life/performance trade-off (don't care about phone gaming), the jack would be better placed on the bottom, SD card expansion wouldn't have gone amiss, and I'd prefer if it were about as small as a Samsung S10e, but it ticks many more boxes than the overwhelming majority of phones in 2021. Pretty sure the camera processing issues could be fixed with a good GCam mod. At least with flagship- and midrange-phone cameras , it's usually the stock software that keeps the hardware from displaying its full potential. Still digging my 2016 ZUK Z2 Pro in 2021(custom ROMs work wonders at extending longevity and unlocking potential), but this would likely be my first choice if I needed to replace it. Nice opener, BTW. 😆

I'm still running my zenfone 5 that I bought for $450. Asus does well to get it's phones up to date. Would I spend nearly $600 for a slight upgrade,I don't think so. If this phone was closer to $350-450 maybe. It's not like the upgrade is a massive difference but it is a 3 generational difference.

What I'm saying if the price were a little more competitive ASUS could push it's name in the mobile space outside of Asia. When I pull out my ways Zenfone 5 must people think it's a iPhone. But up untill recently it's been able to keep up with most major flagships. So maybe it's time for me to upgrade. I've been looking at the Zenfone 7 pro and that looks like a better cost to performance ratio for me. I think that Asus took a step backwards with the Asus Zenfone 8. They shrunk its size and lowering complexity of the phone (camera) on it basically they made a cheaper product but still charging a relative premium. for it.
