@@neokatwastaken I turn turbo mode off when on-battery. While gaming, I always play with 100% fan and headphones in but whenever I take off my headphones... it sounds so loud, I can't imagine playing without headphones in.

@@giffarmasabih8108 Yeah it can get quite loud, but disabling boost and adjusting the fan curve helps. I usually wear headphones when gaming anyways.

Hey I was wondering if the fan facing the monitor blowing hot air towards it would be a problem in the long run. Also I’ve heard that the keyboard area gets really hot even on the base model

@@arhaans652 The only time I’d say the hot air on screen could be an issue is if you plan on gaming on extreme performance mode all day every day and nothing else. For everyday use and light gaming I’ve found no issues 6 months in. The majority of the heat is exhausted underneath the screen and out the sides, not much in front of the screen. I’ve personally never found the keyboard to get that hot, the laptop stays generally cool even when gaming compared to other bigger laptops. It’s a fantastic machine 6 months in and the 2021 model looks even better. Hope that helps!

Pro tip - change the armory crate profile to manual, lower the power sliders to 20, change the GPU to +100mhz clock and +225 memory, and change the GPU power slider to the middle setting - lowers temps substantially without performance loss

@@VIKASSHEKHAR just save for a 2022 or 2023, 2022 (1300$) has both amd very good and ai sync and shit. If you wanna support amd go for it, or save 300$ more for the 2023 version (1600$) that has mini led display which is useless for productive work, but great for movies and gaming. And it has an nvidia gpu, getting a gtx 1650 this day is absolute trash and a waste of money.

typing this from a g14. through some tweaks, I'm getting consistent 8+hrs of light tasks. beastly ryzen 4000 and 1660ti mq are more than enough to deliver 70+ fps high-ultra on aaa titles and of course c-shooters play at 120fps locked ultra. also has USB c charging, and most importantly it doesn't scream HEY LOOK AT MY RGB IM A GAMER or aggressive looks. i can comfortably open this up in a class. its a laptop made in heaven for me

Turn off cpu boost and use a laptop stand like i do. It really helps reduce the heat. My g14 hits only 76 degree most of the times while gaming or doing other heavy tasks and hits 84 degree sometimes while gaming

I picked up a G14 a few weeks ago when it was on sale at Best Buy for $1200 USD. Got the Ryzen 9, 16gb ram, RTX 2060 Max-Q, 1tb nvme SSD, 120hz 1080p display. Very impressed with the build quality, has one of the best keyboards of any laptop I've used. Way better than my work laptop which is a Dell Precision that easily cost 2X as much. Agree that the keyboard backlighting is pitiful, so I just leave it off.

I was originally planning on purchasing this, but came across the SAGER NP7958F1 that was being sold by Xoticpc for $1369. I think the Sager is a better deal primarily due to the desktop versions of cpu/gpu (3600/ 2070) that it offers and it also lets you upgrade to a 3700X/3900X for for 150-300$ more. The 2060 Max-Q on this laptop is quite off putting to me. So for anyone still looking to make a purchase, give that a look.

Kudos to you for highlighting community-created apps. Without them the G14 would be hard to recommend, but with Atrofac for fan control and Ryzen Controller for lowering the TDP, the G14 becomes excellent. Lowering the TDP with Ryzen Controller means you don't have to disable CPU boost. So you'll get more performance when needed but less heat output overall. Effective you can limit the CPU to a Ryzen 4800U, which is still plenty for most games.

Pro Tip: Disable CPU boosting for better temps and not much change to performance unless you REALLY need to push it.

Got mine in may. I had huge problem with battery drain (idle lasted only 1-2 hours). Did finde a fix, not to use sleep, but instead hybernate. Still hat to bring it in to warranty service last week as the fans started to do a loud unhealthy noise and vibration. I can write an update once it is returned to me. Besides these two things it is a good machine, I'm using FHD external display with 144Hz, Read dead 2 and witcher 3 are running at max setting flawlessly (sam on QHD built in display). In WoW's I did take folio and effects down a bit, to avoid frame drops when heavy action goes on. CPU boost has been disabled for several months, no problems there. Early on I could not use VLC player (caused blue screen crashes) so I swithed to Potplayer, havet tried to switch back yet. On battery I get around 6hrs with youtube, browsing, Adobe XD and Affinity Designer usage. 7+hrs watching Netflix. For Teams and Zoom calls I usually plug in (as I need to plug webcam anyway).

Update: Baltic/Eastern europe service level is very poor. The unit was returned to me with all the problems un-fixed. Supposedly they replaced the battery, thou it should be clear, that if the hybernate is not draining, then the problem is not the battery itself. Fair enough, might be a tricky flaw to pinpoint (others who had the same problem had theid unit simply replaced). What is uncomprehensible to me how they ignored the vibrating fans, as 30min of high load produces quite strong rattling noise. The paper said that they replaced CPU fan (only), then it is a fantastic coincidence they found another one with the exact same rattling noise :) I notified the supplier, clarified all symptoms and a way to present them in better detail, but I'm not very confident that they will do anything differently this time around. I hope that my next update is better.
