IF NOTHING HAPPENED FOR YOU: I am new to computers and getting a hang of how to do things properly. What I missed when doing this is that you need to Extract the file. Right click the file and extract, this unlocks it to be accessed when you go into the bios. You will then be prompted to read the file

Also add to the instruction: disconnect all hard drives except the system one (this can be ssd / HDD). It is also recommended to disable the SSD on the PCE board. Just a hint because after the update my Revodrive broke (it could break after a failed pre-reboot, or when I pressed the reset button, or maybe because of a BIOS update). I am inclined to believe that after the update, since I immediately went into the BIOS, I set the working settings to those that were before and after that the BIOS did not see my disk (more precisely, one of the disks, since it was raid 0 and could not load window 1-2 minutes). I also connected this disk to another computer there, too, the BIOS was looking for a second disk from raid 0 for a long time. Disk is broken, information is lost. And no one is responsible for this.

Here is another problem with updating a BIOS. Alienware sent me a screen message that my current BIOS needed to be updated. I went to the Alienware Support app. and pressed the BIOS update button. The update failed to install. A Support tech told me that my current BIOS was too old, which was why the update failed. My current BIOS was ver. 1.0.23, and the new BIOS was 1.0.26. They updated my BIOS to a later ver. 1.0.24 and then to 1.0.25. After getting to this ver. the new updated BIOS, 1.0.26, was installed with no problems.

Set my old PC to host some games on, first time ever updating the bios. I've had the PC running for a few days before updating. Went from Version 4011 4/19/2018 to Version 6042 4/28/22 using this video guide. For some reason after it finished the install and went to reboot, the upper LED light turned orange. Had to google what that meant(was not in the manual), apparently I had to re-seat my ram. So i had to hold the power button to turn off the PC. I then removed and and replaced the ram. The system booted like normal and the new update seemed to have worked.

Thank you so much for your clear instructions on updating BIOS. After watching, I finally plucked up the courage to attempt this. So I downloaded the file from ASUS official and extracted to a formatted (Fat32) usb/pen drive and discovered that it uses a .CAP file extension. On my pc, this relates to 'Affinity Designer' - a vector graphics program I have installed! Here are the 2 files and the info based on (right-click) > Properties: 1. PRIME-B450M-A-ASUS-3211 - Type of file: Affinity Designer File (.CAP) - Opens with: Affinity Designer 2.  BIOSRenamer - Application (.exe) This doesn't seem right so I'd truly appreciate your advice please!

Hi Miss_Idolize P, There is no apps in bios utility. If you have any concerns about the file, please uninstall Affinity Designer and then download bios file again to update. Please follow the steps in the video to update in bios utility.

If it doesn't start blinking green led light, just solid green light then make sure the disk type is MBR not GPT! You have to convert it. Of course don't forget to do FAT32, now you are ready to go! (if there is no any other hardware issue)

I updated my BIOS successfully but whenever I turn on my laptop, it was slow (less than 1 GHZ of cpu speed). But when I restarted it, it returned to its normal speed (3 - 4 GHZ). I didn't ask about updating one at a time, but that's what the tech support employee said for me to do. Like wow.... this will be a lot of updates. My BIOS/UEFI version isn't even on the the website. BIOS Version 1401. I was told to start Version 1804 and update it, then install the next one and next one all the way up to the latest BIOS. One at a time. First time going to update my B550M-K. I hope that I do not run into problems like I did on Gigabyte. After an update with them, nothing but the fan turn on. There were no flash-back or recovery options in case something like that happens. With Asus, I read their default bio option is useful in case something like that happens.

It did remove my RAM profile settings, so the motherboard recognized the ram as 2400Mhz, 18-22-22-52; however, automatic had my timings running at 22-28-28-52 instead. I changed the RAM back to *3600Mhz*, 18-22-22-*48.* I am not sure if I want to overclock my RAM or tighten the timings on my Ryzen 5 system. I care about getting the performance out of my hardware.

Hello ASUS support, I am having a B550M-PLUS. after the processing bar runs to an end, the system reboot itself with a black screen. meanwhile a solid Green Boot light and White VGA Q-LED light turned on, nothing happens until I power the system off and on again. I reset my pc and the bios version on my Maximus IV mobo also rolled back to version 0902. I downloaded the most recent version 3603, but there isn't a ROM or CAP file in the folder. How do I update to the newest version. Note, it's for Win7/8, but im currently running Win 10. Does this affect it?

Guys, I updated my bios from version 2006 to 4401 just yesterday. The reason i did this is because i am about to upgrade my processor from ryzen 3 3200g to ryzen 5 5600g The minimum bios version of ryzen 5 5600g is 2409 so i figured i should update my bios in preparation for the new cpu. mobo: asus tuf b450m-pro gaming processor: amd ryzen 3200g Now the computer does not boot with ryzen 3200g. what seems to be the problem? Is this usually the case when updating bios?
