Clearing the asylum backlog has created another crisis, say charities.
Those who have been granted refugee status lose access to asylum seeker housing and they're left with nowhere to go.

But that's not the case. It's financially more profitable for the government to cater to the needs of migrants. And from a political aspect, it's forecasted as a betterment to serve the needs of those arriving in the country in small boats, over the citizens of this country. At the moment 85% of the UK government's attention is invested towards addressing the situation of the mass migration epidemic and only 15% of the government's time is given towards tackling domestic issues.

If we accept British people sleeping rough, I'm not sure why its so terrible for an illegal migrant to do so. Also, we have to remember... France is a safe and one of the strongest economies in the world. Complete safety from whatever they were fleeing... France's laws are not the same as UK. Religious face coverings are banned along with religious body covering and head scarfs are not to be worn in places like schools. Asylum seekers from Sudan like in this news coverage is predominantly Muslim. So UK would be preferable, less descriminatory on that basis. France's regulations are discussed as breaking away from human rights.

It’s for the benefits system, they see they can blag a pip claim get social housing before our own needy people because they say they’ve come from seeing terrible things that have scarred them mentally. So there it is job done hundreds of pounds a month for nothing and a house to live in rent paid. That is why they see the UK as an attractive destination.

Perhaps if we didn't vote for parties and politicians that don't believe in the state (unless it's for their own expenses or a nice contract for the companies they're being paid to lobby for) and would actually force developers to build social housing instead of 3-5 bedroom houses that are far more profitable and barely any infrastructure and community upgrades (GP surgeries etc), then we wouldn't have such a crisis in the first place.

They jump the queue because they say they’re mentally scarred from fleeing their home country and blag a pip claim and get social housing because they’re then deemed more vulnerable than our own homeless citizens. I work in social services and charities are the worst. They encourage people to lie about thier circumstances to get support they're not entitled to from the local authority pushing those that are entitled to it, down the list. But the governments need to put the message out there so people know this before attempting the dangerous journey. I am lucky enough to live in Australia and our government put the message out that no one arriving by irregular means will be given leave to remain Australia. Our infrastructure is not coping with the increase of legal migrants so the government has promised to cut the numbers. But we see what happens now. But we now have an issue of people arriving by air with a visitors visa and return ticket and then claiming asylum once they’re here!! Which is why say the definition needs reviewing as the interpretation is open to abuse.

Politicians should change places for six months. Out on the streets with the clothes they are wearing and £10 in their pocket and nothing else. Perhaps they might stop squandering money on foreigners and think of our own citizens. Or, if that's a bit too tough, six months in a council flat surrounded by alien scrum and living on the state pension.

The best model to adopt is the Dubai style and of other middle East Arab countries. They allow people to work , earn etc in their country. But they will not be given permanent citizenship because it will corrupt their ethnicity. Workers must leave after their work is over. They cannot stay permanently there.

@meditationcreativemind8747

@vjamesg100 They are smart enough to give many special benefits to their own citizens but will never give citizenship to outsiders who have come to earn . The outsiders who come there have their loyalty to their own country of origin and cultural affiliation. It is dangerous to give citizenship to anyone especially when they have no intention of integrating and respecting the land come to make money and exploit. They only lie to get in. It is shocking that besides legal working people entering countries in Europe and elsewhere and get citizenship and now all riff raff ,antisocial people, illegal migrants being thrust into their countries illegally and are given citizenship easily like confetti. Countries should be smart enough to realise the value of their country and look after their citizens instead of giving away citizenship to anyone carelessly. This is how smartly Dubai, Kuwait etc have developed astonishingly well yet they will not give citizenship to anyone however highly skilled or unskilled. People can stay and earn as long as they want but can never become citizens!!

This is the sad reality now. Once upon a time a better life was possible in the UK, USA, Canada, NZ, Australia. For the ones that are not escaping war they are better to stay in their own homes in their own countries because they will never own a home in these countries now, would even be lucky to get a decent job and a rental home.

This should not be and it is not about our nationals or not. Simply there is shortage of housing as there is no social Housing. Private is too expensive. Refugees like any other national can work, problem is working does not pay enough anymore. I’m in London and after 25 years working I can only afford a room at £1000 plus a month. That’s reality.
