Someone arriving into Ireland, which is an island in the North Atlantic is impossible to do without documents. If I, am Irish citizen tried to either enter or leave Ireland without my passport I would be charged with a criminal offense.

The system is broken and is attracting scammers in their droves. Even when people are denied refugee status, they might well be given "subsidiary protection" and sure if they don't qualify for that, they can just get "permission to remain" because they have been in the system for so long. This is wrong and it needs to stop.

Ireland today is unrecognisable. Flanagan, Coveney, Varadkar etc involvement in signing the UN migration pact in 2018 set the ball in motion, opened the door to the Ireland we are witnessing today. Unvetted men coming from safe countries and planted in towns and villages all across Ireland. This is a plantation and if Irish people oppose this they are labelled. Soon Ireland will have no identity of who we are as a people because it is being taken from us. The Irish pub is dying also, no atmosphere in a pub in Ireland anymore mainly because the woke brigade killed any craic incase it offends the minority. Also alcohol price hikes and pushing non alcoholic beer (why any pub in Ireland is going along for this is madness) many pubs having to close their doors also is by design.

The wider geopolitical reality is relevant and shouldn't be overlooked or reduced in importance when considering thissituation - in particular the motivation driving those whose objective it is, is to gain legal residence in our countries - the reasons for their seeking entry into our countries. Naturally SOME of the people already admitted asylum and SOME of those who will be admitted in the future WILL be affiliated and associate with anti-western ideologies - and it is absolutely reasonable that people should point out this irrefutable and very unfortunate reality.... There IS an ideological conflict between the West and the objectives of many of the religions and cultural groups which are in power in the native countries of, and therefore highly influential in the personal development of, those who are born and raised under such extremist, anti-western philosophies in such places.... And it is absolutely reasonable to assume that a certain percentage, albeit perhaps a low percentage, though nonetheless a certain percentage of those who attain asylum in our countries are here for nefarious intents - such a line of reasoning would not be classifiable as racist as there is ample historical evidence which would bear out this conclusion. And there is also the worry that those amongst those who are permitted asylum might be radicalised by ideological extremists after they have gained asylum due to their being housed in closed quarters with such individuals. A brief an honest appraisal of the fundamental tenets of the religious beliefs and ideological premises of these systems which form the basis of the personal development of especially the young men leaving such culturally distinct regions should be appraised without the bias that to do so is to exercise racist or discriminatory thinking. A few bad apples is all it takes to spoil the lot. Cultural assimilation is all well and good when the motivation is pure....

Dido! If you aren't willing to embrace the Western tradition and cultural norms, don't come to the West. The sticky point is with Islam ☪️. Islam, in its traditional form, does not separate the political from the religious. It does not separate church and state. Even in the high middle ages in the west, there was a distinction between the state and church. Islam, in its authentic expression, is a political-theology. Now, that's not to say all Muslims adhere to this, but a significant % do adhere to this idea.

The no documents trope is irrelevant imo, we simply don't have the capacity to house these men long term given the lack of will from the government to either build or facilitate the building of housing on any significant scale. For the people that are providing the industrial units and refurbished pubs, it just seems to be a money racket, they don't seem to have any scruples about warehousing these men in substandard conditions so long as they get their government money.

There would barely be enough wealth to fund the building of 75,000 homes, which would not meet demand.

Thank you Terry for trying to bring some context to this important discussion. However I sense a strong bias in your comments regarding the opinions of concerned Irish citizens about this issue. They may not be as well informed as you regarding the legalities but their concerns are just as legitimate. You completely ignore the social issues which are already of grave concern as a direct result of our governments immigration policies. When did our government prior to allowing documented or undocumented migrants enter the country carry out a detailed audit of our capacity to do so? Why has this turned into a “nice little earner” for certain people with a spare office block or hotel to fill their bank accounts? And most importantly why does our government not prioritise the housing of our homeless population first? There is major social unrest developing in our country as a result of this inept government policy, yet you seem to conveniently disregard this in your opinion.

Im irish born and bred. I was in a relationship with an American girl for 5 years,We wanted to marry. She has a masters in social work, We tried to get her to live here but when we went through all the correct avenues and she was denied the right to live here. She had to go back to America and our dreams were smashed. Now we have illegal migrants arriving and they cant even speak the language but are welcomed and put in hotels. My partner was a highly educated woman and my country denied her the right to marry me and live in ireland. Its a joke, she may as well just come illegaly and she would get in. Its a damn joke of a system.

I had a friend trafficked into Ireland (She was a Christian from Pakistan & had suffered personal, targeted religious persecution). The Traffickers dropped her off at a Garda station a few miles from the airport and promptly drove off never to be seen again. The traffickers kept her documents, we suspect, so she couldn't be deported quickly. I suspect traffickers also keep passports to reuse them to traffic others, I could be wrong but that's my theory.

Also how come there’s always a luxury bus waiting and the exact amount of beds ready in a luxury hotel or other kind of building and translators ready and whole teams set up to settle these guys into free welfare and a promise of housing? If people are fleeing war or terrible unbearable circumstances. They don’t arrive in parties of 100 all around the same age with fancy suitcases nice clothes mobile phones etc. Absolute scam going on. So many people making a fortune out of it too. Check out the nationalities of these asylum seekers. Hardly any are coming from countries where there’s a war going on. As for then being landed into buildings with blacked out windows into safe towns and communities where resources are at their lowest. In large numbers. Is all beyond reckless and completely unacceptable.
