When my wife came to live in Australia I bought her a $250 Mitsubishi mirage to learn to drive, her happiness and gratitude was surreal and she truly loved her first car..... in contrast my own (western) daughter rejected a $4000 first car from me when she was 16. Wife now owns a nice Toyota rav4 and daughter never received another car.

This reminds me of when we bought the utility trike for the farm. Driving under the rubber tree canopy on a blue bird day and smiling and laughing together all the way...the simple life in Thailand is form of freedom all on it's own. Fun fun fun. Congrats on the new rig!

You might want to check the engine of this bike, a lot of smoke coming out of the pipe is not a good sign. I had 2 similar salaeng bikes, even had one driven Krabi - BKK and back...) and my sister loved to use it for her kids. But handling is and will always be tricky

OMG! Funny I needed a car in America. I bought one and it stayed parked for 9 months, I was afraid to drive. 22 years driving in a super tiny island is a huge difference. I have an ATT with a little trailer. The bike will be so fun and handy to have!

Great purchase. That's an awesome, efficient workhorse. It was good that you bought it from a mechanic. If the bike needs work or you want to update the new trailer portion with a newer bike, you can. Maybe a bigger more powerful updated model, if needed. Have you ever driven this motorbikes with the wagon - it's damn hard - as the bike alway wants to go anotherway! I do not really like to drive those things, but they are practical. Haha, she looked so happy on the bike, she is a real perl, other women want a sporty car to show off, she prefers the used old bike, just adorable. We had a pretty great off grid strawbale house up in Udon Thani, but left it behind due air pollution. Just bought some land in Rayong and going to start over This time probably (if we can get the "go" sign from amphoe and village elder, aka "building permit") will he air Crete dome home :-) Perhaps I should start making video about it haha... My wife is really impressed about the garden you guys make.

I've pondered this option myself for when I return back to Thailand in retirement. Not fond of motorbikes generally, for safety reasons, but with the attached cart and the roof to keep the rain off, might be a fun little option for driving around locally and picking up things from the nearby market. It'll be fun to see how she likes it in a few months, so please keep us posted!

It's probably more safe then driving on a motorcycle alone. Key is to have good tail light (and front) so people can see it's not just a motorcycle hahaha. Fun fact... While everyone uses them everywhere in Thailand, they are not legal. Then again... so many things aren't regulated and widely used here... Electric scooter or trike (mainly used by elderly)... not legal :-)

@@fhorst02 Yeah, I don't really want to purchase a car, and a car isn't necessary really. I can use songtaews or GRAB, the way I did last time. But it might be nice to just toodle around to the market only. I am assuming the motorbike is appropriately licensed anyway, and insured of course.

A Tuk Tuk runs about 120-150k Baht, that would be easier and safer to get around with if the moto with a sidecar is too unstable for ya.

Now I'm more glad as she is feeling happier by driving the kids to their school which is at your house area no matter how much the motor is cost including the worker is also working harder by helping to fix it probably including driving his own car to your farmhouse for double checking it after returning the amount of it by adding the roof & mirror which is at the sides of it. You & your loved ones are now having a great idea by how to bring them to the schools quickly without any injuries including driving back to homes which is making their own habits to enjoy more safely with tears of joy too. The thing that I like the most is half driving including half chatting with you...

Mate - we're feeling the effects of inflation here in Australia as well. Interest rates, rent, food, petrol, everything has gone through the roof.. Read an article today on an Australian news site saying there are now over 1000 people in Perth alone, earning 6 figure salaries or more, living out of their cars. How we got here as a society is absolutely pathetic, and shocking. Apparently the US is even worse. It's tough for everyone in the West, and we all need to be there for each other who are struggling and help where we can. God bless brother.
