I have just discovered your youtube channel yesterday and I decided to be a subscriber immediately... Very nice videos which describe real authentic simple life in Thailand. I used to live in Thailand as an expat during 7 years in the 1990"s (in Rayong Province), I am planning to come back when I am retired (I am a little older than you...). Married to a thai wife too, I took a different path ,coming back to France in the early 2000"s to continue my career and to give a western education to my children (3 daughters). I am now living and working in Noumea, New Caledonia (French Island in South Pacific) and planning to come back to Thailand in Nakhon Ratchasima Province for retirement (my wife's family is from Khorat City). So your experience of living in a rural area is very interesting to me (to figure out what could be my future simple life...).

Hi Damo and Ryan, loved the vlog and seeing Hugo up close and personal. The word you were looking for for those students in costumes is "cosplay"! It comes to something when sn old geyser like me has to tell a youngster like you what the new word is!! Thanks for sharing your wonderful life with us who can only dream of such a life, due to age and infirmity. God bless you all 😀❤🙏

Damo's face on saying 30baht for the wellies is brilliant & her joy at getting a bargain, any bargain, is a pleasure to see. Not many women like that in the west. Most seem to enjoy paying as much as possible, thinking they're showing off to others. Love the kids trying on the footwear 😊😊

In another video from another poster, when they decided to cut down a banana tree, they took the main trunk and sliced it like a huge onion and then feed the onion slices to the pigs and ducks. So Now you are doing the same, so I guess that is normal in Thailand farming, I would never have guessed.
@WalkingmanPattaya Жыл бұрын
Brilliant vlog again Ryan and all. Your living situation seems ideal for raising children with the farm., other family, and other kids around to play with for the boys. My wife and I worked too much ... yet our son kept busy with school and sports and friends as well, and is still alive with no bad habits, living in Bangkok, studying at University. Glad we got out of the USA when we did... Oh excuse me. was supposed to comment on your vlog and not my life again! 5555 Am a Boomer so be glad I didn't start with "Back in my Day" 555 Peace and Love Ryan, Mo, Tis, and Bairn Hugo

The banana tree.. you can cut some of the leafs to reduce the weight.. it will not affect the tree.. better saying Bana plant..in my opinion.. just a big plant ..

Actually it’s a herb right 😁 We use the trunk for pig food
@istvanborbely1563 Жыл бұрын
@@lifeinruralthailand yes if you think about it it's not a tree.. it's a plant herb. Same as tomatoes.. just cut some of the leafs off its should be just fine take off the load 👍

I've noticed that as my children get older, and they are able to communicate more articulately and deeply, the relationship with children changes to be closer and more interesting; but each kid is different. One of my sons is more of a joker and prankster and we can joke around a bit (with short times of seriousness), but he is more stubborn and emotional and difficult at times, and my other son is more of a thinker, he talks much less, but when he talks, its always fascinatingly insightful. But no mater the personality, the relationship transitions into one of deeper communication, and then start to transition from a father/child teacher/student style pattern slowly into a more peer adult to adult style connection.

My Thai wife of 16 years and I, 2 months ago, were been blessed with the birth of a child we were told by docs my wife could never have! They were wrong! Born 6 weeks premature and a month in the NICU in Hua Hin, she is now home healthy and happy! A father again at 64! Amazing and wonderful. I know exactly what I’ll be doing the rest of my life and no problem finding ultimate meaning in it. Raised a daughter already who is now 34 and a physician in the U.S. Can only hope her new little sister turns out as well as she did! !

...yeah, it's nice having bananas around like that - but you want to be careful with getting the juice from the banana plants onto your clothes - those stains never come out (and it can itch like crazy if you get it on your skin!) .

All the shoes that your wife bought were so cheap with a nice shot which is the kids while wearing. Family should be the place where you can be your most complete self. Where you're accepted and appreciated, seen and valued, even in moments of disagreement. It should be your soft place to fall, the place where you're reminded that no matter what happens to you, in the face of deepest challenges, you are loved.

That is exactly what the problem will be and already is in thailand, rampant consumerism! Impossible to deal with that as a government, look at what is happening in China where they gave the people a taste so that they can go on as kings! Hope the people of Thailand can somehow manage the transition without destroying what makes it special and unique! Materialism really sucks but unfortunately you always have to find out the hard way!
