@@barriewilliams4526 No it shouldn't be their choice. For simply living in a democracy you should have to vote. End of. For those cowards and free loaders who don't wish to participate then they should be fined, heavily. It's not exactly onerous having to make a choice of whom you want to govern every 5 years. A democracy simply cannot function properly if pretty much half CBA to vote. It's pathetic. It's like the anti seatbelt mob who need protecting from themselves by enacting laws to make wearing seat belts in cars mandatory when the vast majority of us wear them because we realise wearing one might save our life so don't need to be told by law to wear one.

I'd love to know how PR is supposed to work. Currently each riding is represented by a candidate elected by the majority in that riding. Presumably that MP will represent their ridings best interests. That cannot happen with a PR MP. That MP can only represent the party they belong to. So, how do the residents of Much Piddling get heard; how can they get the new train station, or river to go with their new dam? There won't be a representative dedicated to and understand the riding. It's dysfunctional like the EU. I agree that based upon these latest results there is serious misrepresentation, but I don't understand how PR is better.

Reform made a huge tactical error by fielding candidates in (almost) every constituency. It spread the manpower too thin. It spread the budget too thin. It meant scraping the barrel for candidates, some of whom damaged the entire party. If they'd concentrated on 50 seats, they probably would have got them. Maybe 100 target seats and got 70~80. But trying to win every seat as a brand new party was a losing strategy.

Don't agree. Stupid id, iotic people who had been Tory voters, voted Liebour to spite the Tories, how stupid and pathetic is this? Such a low turn out as 48% of people didn't bother to vote? You couldn't make it up. The Reform candidates were there but if people don't vote for them what can you do? You can lead a horse to water, but can't make it drink comes to mind. These people can't claim they didn't know or realise what was happening, that's pretty lame. Sadly most people aren't really any more intelligent than a piece of 4x2. It's not rocket science, firstly, none of the major parties are going to change the first past the post system, it suits them in the long term, so i wouldn't waste to much time moaning about it, everyone can see it's unfair, but it won't change. The main priority is to set up regional and local party's to work at grass roots to build up that connection with local people, so when council elections come Reform can begin to make inroads into councils and win councillors. Over the next couple of years, and to avoid bad candidates, choose who will be standing in what constituency in the next election, so when it comes round you have someone who has already worked and is known locally. Refine the manifesto, to reflect whatever the changing world reflects, but really hit home on core policy's which Labour will only have made worse, so reflect that and be ready for the challenge. Reform has had a big response from 15 to 18 year olds online, they will all be voters in the next election, so begin to bring them into the tent, get them enthused about Reform, give them a reason to get out and vote when the time comes. They are Britain's future. I expect Nigel will keep Reform in the headlines with speeches and attacks on Labour, but they mustn't get drawn into the Conservative infighting that will happen. They shouldn't let any of the failed Tories come into Reform, after all they were part of a party and voted for, Highest taxes, mass immigration, failing health service, weakened defence the list is to long to go on about. These people should be left to fight amongst the dying Tory party. It's a five year journey we are all on now, it's time for cool heads and detailed planning, to many times the right has had a chance but infighting and submission to left wing attacks through the media have destroyed our chances. I have not seen a greater chance of success than we have now, lets not mess it up.

To get this Labour government (aided and abetted by the Tories) to vote for proportional representation would be akin to getting turkeys voting for Christmas. Not in either of their interests and so will never happen.

Agreed. PR is never ever gonna happen. No winning party FPTP is going to even entertain it. The only time it could be possibility is in the scenario of a hung parliament but even then there will still likely be one party who thinks they can win out right and block it. Always the losers and minority parties that bring up PR. Making voting compulsory would be a start to protecting our democracy heavily fining those who don't vote or who spoil their ballot paper.

I dunno, after Farage's speech today I'm worried hes just setting Reform up as a new Tories. They have funny ideas of who should and shouldn't be part of the party. Anderson said worse today than some of the candidates that were removed, Beau was also removed for making a comment that was literally Reform contract policy. If they keep removing people for edgy comments or what some people would call right wing common sense they are going to butcher their momentum.

What will Nigel achieve with just 4 seats ? All I have heard since the start of the campaign is that Labour and the conservatives are one of the same so how come Labour one the election. The people have flopped again, now they should stop complaining they have what they voted for ?

A man from NI in the KZbin comments made a good point. TUV got one seat and have a pact with Nigel. DUP got 4 seats and were endorsed by nigel. Therefore if they all got together it would increase seats to 9. Also there may be some who got in in Scotland who might be up for this.

Sadly many people's reasoning for voting Liebour seems to have been a protest vote having become disillusioned with the Tories and now wanting to punish them. How thick and pathetic is this? They had a chance of real change voting Reform which is surely closer to their conservative ideology but mucked it up totally by voting Liebour. Seriously??? I don't see ideologically how any genuine Tory could vote Liebour and frankly vice versa. For a Tory protest vote surely voting Reform would be the logical one? I staggers me how thick people really are.

Well, most sane people would agree that Reform gaining 5 seats in Parliament since it started only 6 weeks ago is remarkable. Neither the Tories nor Labour have the wisdom or leadership to do that in that short time.😂 The Tories have failed and that's why they got kicked out of No. 10. Labour are on their way, because half of the country don't love or trust Starmer and his Looney Labour party. 😂 Reform's foundation is laid, and they will build on that massively over the next few years. Watch Their Space! 🤣🤣

I'll give him 24 hours before I give it a tiny amount of benefit of the doubt. Let's see if anyone who voted for that pillock can reply to this without saying something bigoted. If you're referring to the most important policy this election (immigration) then almost every country on the planet supports controlling the quantity & quality of people who enter their country. He's also talked about equal treatment for everyone. The racists & bigots are on the left: 1) The support for Palestine speaks for itself. The Palestinians elected Hamas whose charter declares to eradicate Israel. That would suggest that a large number of Palestinians and many of their supporters support genocide. 2) Claiming that people are "transphobic" for stating the fact that a man cannot become a woman would also be a bigoted view. 3) Claiming that people are "Islamophobic" for stating genuine reasons to be fearful of Islam (E.g. Poor treatment of women & gay people / Calling for criminalisation of criticism & mockery of religion) would also be a bigoted view. 4) Obama & Biden are both self avowed racists. After "affirmative action" was struck down in 2023 then they both made public statements expressing support for racial discrimination.
