Farmer friend told me that a dairy cow takes a crap every 40 minutes. It explains the quantities of bovine guano being dealt with here! The best compost we were ever able to get was from the truck wash-down at a freezing works. The slurry went into a big settling tank; liquid pumped off and remaining solids heaped up to dry off. Most of it was taken by employees for their gardens as it was full of earthworms, grade A1+ stuff! Col, NZ

Is there any economic benefit from investing in a tunnel mixer to agitate your manure storage? Have you had issues with your processor spuds and elephant hide or scab from applying manure to your tater ground? What I mean with a "tunnel mixer," is a machine used for composting that takes a manure windrow and mixes the manure and puts some oxygen back in to help get things cooking before applying.
@RockyMountainFarmerАй бұрын
A tunnel mixer would work to dry it out I just don’t think the dairy wants to invest in one. We haven’t had problems with our potatoes.

Now the truck that blew its engine in the field, why didn't you have him activate the body to fling the poo out before driving the truck back? I get that all the people replying to my comment will have excuses and reasons why it can't be done in their opinion. But I can promise you it can be done whether you're flinging poo or pumping oil for raising a dump body on a dump truck. I can personally speak to the pumping oil and the raising the dump body from experience. Both motors were worn out Cummins .

former trucker here... the worst thing about trucking is, now I get that operators don't want or even has space for more than 2 trucks at once a LOT of times, but they have to realize that even though we all left you at staggered times we'll end up coming back in bunches an you don't understand why... well we deal with City Traffic which includes Stop signs, Stop lights, Yields, jams, Idiots with a license, and different driving styles. All of which can result in a "Bunching" effect resulting in trucks coming back to you in 2's and 3's or 4 at a time, that's just the way it works, not like we're stopping at the station every round having a 10 minute B.S. break
