AT NOBO 2024 - Stealth tent site (mi. 1283.5) to Backpacker Campsite (mi. 1302.2)

Stealth tent site (mi. 1283.5) to Backpacker Campsite (mi. 1302.2) Pretty good day, very hot and sweaty though 😓 It thunder stormed again last night so the rocks were very slippery this morning. I hiked very cautiously to start, until the sun burned off the moisture. Close to noon the trail turned into really good conditions, so at that point I figured I’d hike straight through lunch to Delaware Water Gap. I arrived there about 2 pm and went to the ice cream shop. I hung out there for 2 hours then went up to the donation based church hostel. There must’ve been 25 thru hikers there! I immediately lost the vibe and decided to charge my power bank a bit, then head out. On my way out of town I remembered that the ice cream shop also had sandwiches so I figured I’d stop in there for dinner ha ha. This did however make me late to get to the tent site. I had a beautiful sunset to look at while I did it. On my way out of Delaware water gap to the backpacker campsite, I crossed into New Jersey and also hit the 1300 northbound mile marker.

Todays menu: Two Gatorade protein bars, package of licorice, Payday candy bar, Mounds candy bar, 2 bottles of red cream soda, 2 bottles of ginger ale, large hot fudge ice cream sundae, Turkey bacon club sandwich, small bag of chips, package of caramel creams, small ice cream sandwich, and water.

Nobos complain about the rocks in PA. Sobos (and us that live in NH and Maine) wonder what they are talking about. We stayed in DWG and visited the Emporium twice. Thanks for bringing that memory back!

They talk about the rocks because there isn’t anything cool there 😂… I went back for dinner and had a killer turkey club sandwich there as well 👍🏻

As I am the first like and comment- way to go. That gap looks like a peaceful crossing. Grew up in New York but as a young boy, only hiked up in Connecticut backpacking. The old Eaatern forests are so different than the West's. You actually look like a man I saw training for the PCT out at a place called Rush creek in 2017, Modoc County, Weird huh?! 😵‍💫😱
