Stealth tent site (mi. 1318.4) to Mashipscong Shelter tent site (mi. 1334.8) This was one of the craziest days I’ve had out here! 😂 I hiked a fast 8 miles this morning to get to Branchville, NJ where I was meeting my friend Mike. He arrived at 11 am with 2 Gatorades in tow 🙏. I tried to check in to a motel that I had reserved but they said I couldn’t check until 2. Luckily I’d had him bring me a t-shirt of his to wear to lunch because mine hasn’t been properly washed in 2 weeks+. We had a great lunch and chatted for a couple of hours then he dropped me off at the motel at 1. I waited til 2:05 then started calling to get my room. Turns out the manager had fallen asleep 🤷‍♂️ in one of the rooms and wasn’t answering his phone. I ended up leaving after talking to another lady on the phone and demanding my money back, and walked a mile to a DQ to cool off (get it?) A lady at the DQ drove me the other 2.5 miles back to the trailhead and I bought her a box of dilly bars 😃 There was a shelter 3 miles out of town, but it had cooled a bit and darkness comes slow down here, so I pushed another 5 miles beyond that to the next shelter. Supposedly tomorrow there’s a small town we’ll go through, which is good because my power pack is about dead ☠️.
Todays menu: Cliff bar, two 20 oz. Gatorades, bottle of root beer, small bag of barbecue chips, order of French fries, three 28 oz. Gatorades, a large banana split blizzard, a small vanilla cone, a large chef salad, an apple, an orange, and water.
