I'm tired of the "anchor is only difference " comment everywhere!!! It's not the only difference at all!! The mk25 has a front lower rail, mk25 has a larger, more course /rough grip, mk25 has a much stronger clip release spring making for a complete and fast clip ejection. Mk25 has a heavy phosphate coating inside and out for maximum resistance to corroding and scratching that leads to corroding. The desert tan is also exclusive to the mk25 and the tan paint is a high end heat resistant, scratch resistant and protects against corrosion as well. Oh and it has navy sea. anchors on the left side of the barrel. Boom!
@spacebear496 жыл бұрын
Magazine... not clip. That drives a lot of us nuts too. 😁 the phosphate coating is mainly for immersion in salt water.

It also has a «real» picatinny rail, not SIG’s proprietary rail as on the other 226s/229s.

Love this guy's candid demeanor and honesty. He's not a tech geek spitting all the gun specs at me, he's just a regular guy that's a gun enthusiast. Really enjoyed this video. I also own a SIG P226 MK25 and I've had it for 15 years. Absolutely fantastic handgun.

From my understanding and research the MK25 has a different coating on the internals that are more resistant to salt water corrosion compared to the regular 226. So there is is more difference then just the marketing and anchor stamp. Also it has a different style rail. I believe the MK25 has the 1913 rail style.

This is the only sig ever made with a chrome lined barrel. The decocker is a different type of metal. Name escapes me but it's designed to be more corrosive resistant. Trigger is different than the regular 226. It comes with a 1913 picatinny rail instead of that garbage rounded one. Just a little more than a stamped anchor on the side.
@heremyjogan7 жыл бұрын
its a phosphate coating.
@New2Kendo5 жыл бұрын
The slide stop, decocking lever, and internals are Carbon Steel and Phosphate coated, thats the easiest way (other than the anchor and rail) to tell a MK25 is the color of the decocking lever
@devonfelix36736 жыл бұрын
I just bought this model yesterday, I've owned the regular black MK25 and they are fantastic guns. I'm a Sig fanboy in all honesty, but they're just so damn reliable. I have a remodeled p320 as well (came stock with the new trigger system and is actually drop safe) and I've put 1,000 rounds through it between 2 consecutive weekends and literally not one malfunction. No bad feeds, no jams, no weak ejections, nothing. Just keep them clean and they are truly amazing
@deacon3838 жыл бұрын
Great job on the vid. I have the same 226 and aside from the anchor, the internals are all phosphate coated (better corrosion resistance)and the barrel is chrome lined unlike a standard 226. Not a huge difference but you do end up getting something for the extra cost.

James, thanks for the info! Its a great gun anyway you slice it though!
@johnnyeas14313 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the video. Since you've had the p226 did the gun ever jam on you? And if it did, do you think it was because of lack of lubrication, bad ammo or any other reason?

Glad he saw that on round 4 and adjusted. It's a great gun and I love mine! Maybe he'll get a few hundred more rounds through that and get the grouping better.
@New2Kendo5 жыл бұрын
The differences are 3 mags, Phosphate coated internals, slide stop, and deckcocker. Carbon Steel decocking lever, slide stop, and internals. Picatinny rail, not the proprietary. Siglite sights, no E2 grip. Anchor engraving, and UID, obviously one of the Navy SEAL handguns in inventory (still preferred by allot of SEAL's) Glock 19 didnt replace it, it was added to thre inventory on Subs and other places they gear up. Forgot the barrel is Chrome Lined as well

I finally bought my 9mm mk25 a couple months ago. After years of daydreaming about holding this gun, feeling the cold, hard, heavy steel, I finally, without warning in a spur of the moment decision, found myself with bills paid and for the first time in a year, a little less than half of my paycheck was free for me to go wild with. So I got off work at 530 and rushed to my gun shop/range 20 min away and got in the door 10 min before closing. I thought the salesman would be upset because it's not a simple 3 min sale... I had to fill out that federal questionnaire on their laptop, wait and wait and wait for a response which often takes 20 min and then go through the rubbish of completing the sale. Apparently the guy makes a pretty good hourly wage plus a decent commission on sales and at over $1200.00 for the mk25 after tax, that's probably his biggest sale of the week, he did say it was a nice end to the day because he'd sold no guns. I went with the desert tan color. I'm a sucker for desert tan anything. All black gets a bit boring and from a distance I can spot this gun in tan. They had the tan mk25 used for $550 which is a great deal considering its retail cost but it was clearly used. Heavily used, like someone went navy seal mode with it and put it to good use but even then I'm sure it would function perfectly... Still, this is something I've been wanting for years, ever since the seals adopted it. So it needed to be MINE and mine only. Not some second hand bullshit. Mine. Nobody else's essence on it. Fresh oil from the factory... So I bought it and besides my Smith and Wesson AR15 m&p16, it's the second best purchase I've ever made... My motorcycle being my third most best purchase. I love this gun and I recommend it to anybody that wants to invest the money into a gun that will last you a lifetime, one you can pass down to your kids and their kids.

ive owned four of these (own 2 now, both fde like yours) and the main reason i bought these is cuz of the phosphate-treated internals. i live in houston and its HUMID and hot here always. i didnt want any rust issues. i guess he didnt know they did this treatment to the mk25 even though its like the first thing you read when researching this gun. its not just the anchor and uid sticker that commands a higher price.

Overall, pretty descent performance, however, some pointers to get some bad habits out before they form! 1.) You should lean much more forward for more stability 2.) Don't have your 2 thumbs on top of each other, have them both on the frame of the gun for more support 3.) Try to get used to shooting with the right eye, instead of cross dominant. But good vid man! Im looking into getting a 226 myself Take care now!
@korazjian5251 Жыл бұрын
While i agree with most of this, its actually pretty common for ppl to run thumbs overlapped to prevent slide not locking back.

Good video. I love my 226/Mk25. I can consistently hit my 8” steel plate @ 50 yds with it, which I can’t do consistently with any of my other pistols. Just a note: it appears in the video your arms/shoulders are too tense and that you are squinting while shooting. Relax Brother! Try relaxing your shoulders, keeping both eyes open as you would normally while still maintaining a firm grip and locking only your wrists and see that that does for your accuracy and groups. Not meant to be mean, just hoping you get the most out of that great pistol.

Like the video! Just turned 21 and had saved money to buy a pistol. Went in thinking I was gonna buy a glock, saw this one and held it(saw the cool anchor) haha now I'm still pistol less because that one is a pretty penny so I'm having to save more. Any comment as far as this being a first buy pistol?
@ClayTraderGuns8 жыл бұрын
Brandon, I would really suggest you get to a range that rents out hang guns and shoot them both, you really wont be able to make a good judgement until youve put a few rounds through each of them. Id also check out the SIg 320 (kzbin.info/www/bejne/iai1nmWepJaDnLM)

@arkangelsklucifer7 жыл бұрын
For safety reason, you need to decock the hammer even unloaded just precaution in first 4 minutes you had presentation. DA is primary safety for P226, well most firearms with DA. Glad you like P226, I occasionally clean it after done at shooting range, I average around 200-300 ammos in 2hr limit indoor range. I have at least 750 rounds on my P226, got mine January 2017,no issues yet I hope not soon. I heard you say "you're not competitive shooter", me neither but I want to, lol. For shooting stance, it looks like you're leaning backward, try to lean forward slightly so you're not off-balance. Laters! btw: you look like the main actor from "Strain" series or the actor from Die Hard 5/Terminator: Genisys. you probably hear that alot? :]

@traeucity60876 жыл бұрын
ClayTrader Guns, don't listen to that guy. The Legion is still a P226; so obviously, if he didn't like the way it fit him, he doesn't like P226's. The Legions are great, if you can afford them. They look great, have fantastic, G10 grips, amazing, X-Ray sights; and I really like the upgraded triggers. I own the SAO P226, the P229 in .40 S&W, and the P220 in 10mm. There's no way in hell, I would trade any one of them for an M11 A1. I like the M11 A1; I'd just buy it, if I wanted one.
