This song brings me to tears . I lost my wife 22 years ago. I remember back to the 1980 ‘s when she was alive and we had just gotten married. Darren you are a gem . I am still looking for the "love" button 😊 Darren is usually behind the scenes, playing the keyboard and using his great voice as back vocal. As a musician, I am still astonished at this wonderful song. Besides the great Darren's voice, piano and sax were absolutely perfect. OK, so Mr Darren Mullen. Never afraid to go with risky, (possibly) unknown songs to the mass market. Does what he wants to from his heart. Doesn't have the need to repeat tracks, "cough - you know who", and just shows how good music is. Family Ties was a staple part of my childhood, I've had to dig out the KZbin clip of this moment just to relive it. Fantastic cover of a live song, if you're ever hanging around a pub in Adelaide and hear this, chances are Darren's has had a few too-many bevvies! Watch Crafty's behind-the-scenes video for a lot of information. Great job from the sax and pedal steel. Sombre performance, no need for jumping around. Brings chills on repeated viewings. For me, it was the first time listening to this song, and after watching "Behind the Sound", I searched the live video, and the original studio recording, and I can honestly say this Singit Live cover brought the best of both. Out of all the bands out there nobody ever does this great classic tear your heart out, throw it on the floor, and stomp on it song. Very few versions of it out there and wonderful to hear someone finally give it the respect it deserves. I’ve seen Billy Vera do it live and yours is a great rendition Darren. Ok. Let me settle down first. That was the most musical emotion I’ve felt and heard in years. Back in the day my band covered this at hundreds of private party gigs. In the 80s, but never got close to this. Darren, you’re a master at picking the right song, players, singers and mix. But to garner this kind of a performance from especially the younger players was heartwarming and memorable. Bravo and thank you Darren.
