Goo Gone is what I use to get the remaining adhesive off. You can also restore the paint easily with a paint marker. Cool video, man! I hope it helps some people keep their joystick working!

I did my first padhack thanks to this vid! I got the wires going to an Undamned UD-USB and I no longer have to compromise my gameplay with the wrong kind of stick. I can choose between my dedicated 4-way stick for most games, and my 8-way sticks for River Raid and, uh, I guess that's it.

I really enjoy your presentation style and these 2600 videos are among my favourites. I find you did not show well enough how to reconnect the wires, I would have liked to have seen a closer video angle. Also at 2:01 you show the tab of the joystick where it is as you start, facing to the top (fire button side of the joystick). then at 10:40 you make it look like you are going to have the tab face the bottom, but is is back to the top at 11:45 before you close it up. Thanks to this video I finally know how to use the dome switches that Dan Kramer sent me to fix my CX-22 Trak-Ball controller. If you have any of the Trak-Ball revisions I would like to see a video similar to this for one of those. Thanks for the links on where to get replacement parts.

Great video! Do you know where to buy dome switches now? The link you shared is out of stock.

A relatively common problem I also encountered back in the 80s was that the center peg that supports the white, inner shaft would sometimes break off. And with the joystick case being made of ABS plastic, no commonly available glue would hold it. I tried superglue, epoxy, etc. NOTHING worked on it.

I want to see a CX10 repair, there's hardly any tune up or repair videos about them.

Do you have an updated store that sells these dome switches? It looks like that site stopped manufacturing them. Thanks!

Hello, and thank You for Your videos! I have a question, Do You know if pcbs can die? Like, can they get to a state where they just won't work no matter what You do, even tho they appear to be in great condition and look like they are absolutely fine? If so, what would cause this to happen? Thank You for Your time!!

Inside the joystick handles of the controllers is a white stick of plastic with a ring at the bottom. On each side of the ring is a nub that sticks out and presses down against each dome to make contact with the circuit board. The plastic nubs and rings on my controllers are very stressed from years of use so they don't stay firm when pressed down. Any advice? Perhaps I could cut a few metal washers to loop around each nub's side of the ring with gorilla glue to reinforce it? New plastic sticks will wear down again over time, I'm aiming for a longterm solution.

That'll probably be a question better asked using a search engine.
