Best days of my life with my rubber key 48k back in the mid 80s. I didn't want to go to school, just wanted to stay at home playing on the speccy haha. Games I remember fondly are the Skool Daze/Back 2 Skool games. But the really impressive ones for me were Gollop's Laser Squad and Chaos, these games were like another level. Stop it when it says OK 0:1, add these two lines of basic, 10 CLEAR 24749 and 35 STOP (The line 10 CLEAR 24749 is to delete the border paper and ink changing all to black so when you run the compiler you can read it) then type RUN and play the tape until the game loads (the game will not run and return to basic). Delete all the lines of the basic loader (Do not use the NEW command to do this, or reset the spectrum!) and type in a basic program. I was a beast in Track And Field. The local pub in 1984 got the service guy to change the dip switch so you only got one life because of me. I still "clocked it" about 5x per run. Usually lack of concentration on the high jump at the end was my downfall. The hammer seemed to get as lot of people, but the trick was not to watch the character, but to watch the power meter and release just before it reached the end. As for the hurdles... - two fingers and a thumb for jump . "Eight Point Three Zoo Seconds" I'd finish with none of the other runners even showing. I almost destroyed my rubber Speccy keyboard on Daley Thompson's Decathlon. A miracle to get the game on that system, even if it was split into "Day One" and "Day Two" As for cricket I liked "'Owzat" and the text based games like "Robin Smith's" that all came out in the very late 1980's.. CSS had a game with Test on one side and 50 overs on the other, written in BASIC that I modded loads. In fact I learned some of my first coding in BASIC modding that game - because I wanted there to be more in it. What a wasted (but wonderful) youth I had :)

Great video and very excited about the Speccy and would spend a fortune on games in the 80's for various incarnations of Spectrum that came out. I'm new to ROMS etc, will there be (or is there already) a tutorial on where and how to get these, marketplaces etc and how to install them? Decathlon made me save up for a Kempston joystick, which was the only one that would survive the abuse! I'm sure that Trap Door, was one of the first games that used the ability for the 128K spectrum + to limit colour bleed when pixels of different colours clash. I could be wrong, but looking at it, it does appear to be doing it far less, than the other games. I remember buying that game, because it was the first one that used the technology. Did have the ZX Spectrum version of Daley's Decathlon. The 1500-meters race, it was in line with most other versions of the game, in that the 1st 1400-Meters, is a gradually faster bar management, scenario carefully adjust the speed, and energy levels. And the final sprint, yes, you might then need to break the joystick. Sorry for a harsh introduction, from myself, I really have enjoyed the video. I agree totally with a very early comment when you mention, the probability that 20 other games could feature, in a future video. Yes, I agree. Returning to DT's Decathlon, me I always preferred the ZX 48K version of Hyper-Sports. Gremlins, the Adventure game, a fantastic recommendation. I use an emulator on my pc for my speccy enjoyment called Spectaculator. Its a really good emulator and very reasonable, and I can boost the clock speeds, which for some games it definitely needs.. The main reason i love it is thst it emulates the tape music when you load in tape games. Honestly, with dome gsmes, the tape music is the best part. I would of added Agent X 1 and 2. Easily the best ever music you can get for the speccy. Loving the video. Going to wstch the Amiga one after this. I loved my Amiga even more than my speccy.

It was called something like the Timex Sinclair in the US (the contract to make the UK ones was handed to Timex as well, in their Scottish factory) The US version had some differences though, which in turn made the vast British software catalogue completely incompatible with the machine, and naturally it bombed.
@YouveBeenGamed3 ай бұрын
You're very welcome and thanks so much for watching! I love to hear that this could entice a whole new audience into the joys of Speccy gaming! Retro Games Ltd have ssaid in recent comments on Facebook that their advice to people in regions where The Spectrum is not listed for sale is to buy from the UK to avoid missing out. I've seen a lot of interested parties in the US, so it would really suck if they don't release it their at some point, but so far it's not looking great :( If you are interested in ordering from the UK then here is a link to Amazon amzn.to/3APKOR2 I know it's a pain ordering it from overseas, but if it means not missing out it might be the only option for the forseeable future.
