I spent countless hours on Wolfenstein 3D on the Jaguar and it still is a unique version with nice graphics and audio overhaul. That’s great being able to play it on Mister now ! Jaguar was far from a great system, but it had many enjoyable hours to offer anyway with some pretty nice games

Anyone who likes Tempest 2000 should check out the VR game Polybius. It was made by the same guy (Jeff Minter) and has a very similar trippy art style. Glad to see the Jaguar core continues to improve.

Absolutely amazing. A lot of cores that were said to be impossible are on the Mister now and almost every week there is so much progress. Mister is probably the best retro device you could own at the moment. Eliminating the need to own each and every hardware and still giving you access to almost the same experience. And with MisterPi it is not even very expensive anymore.

Look, this is genuinely a core I couldn't care less about but it's super cool that someone out there made this for the dozens of people who do care. The more of this the better. Get as many FPGA cores on the MiSter as we can. Preservation is important, even if the game industry ghouls don't care about it.

As a Jag hardcore fan, this video made me far too worried for my own good. I had no idea of Operation Follow through, and it's insane!! I'm dowright speechless, but now it needs to become a full game, and we know how easily those complex and solo developed games can be abandoned... Heretic for the Jag comes to mind. Insanely good port, many attempts were made to finish it, but it never did. Really hoping this new one gets finished, it looks amazing!

Hey, developer here. I got a publishing deal for the Jaguar version, and I honestly had a lot of fun making the demo. I have zero reason not to finish it. 😁 I expect to have the game done later this year

@@Cobradabest just by the demo alone, you've achieved what very, very, veeery few homebrew/indie games have ever done on a given platform, which is to surpass original developers working hard and with teams, on a said console during its lifespam. I'd say Paprium did just that, maybe Vengeance Hunters for the Neo Geo also came close to that. What you did on the Jag is already among the most impressive displays of 3d that console has ever rendered. I mean, at some points, there are 3 fully modeled human characters at the same time, and they appear to be of excellent polygonal count. On a technical level, this short demo alone already convinces more than most 3d Jag games. And the gameplay is absolutely perfect, it looks tons of fun, and the Jag needs so much a on rail shooter, like the classics Virtua Cop or House of the Dead. Well done!! Seriously, I'll get my copy on day 1. Amazing, stunning work!

A good stress test for Wolf 3d is to get as many things chasing you as possible, then deal with their conga line in a long corridor with the flamethrower. Caused slowdown in real hardware at least.

Wolfenstein, Doom and Tempest were, really the good ones on the Jaguar library. I would still say the Tempest is the best one... Glad to own working one, with the cd addon!

Even the RGB-cable is Atari original :) Bought new laser, when I didn't get the burned disc's to work. And then I found out, that they needed to be burned with certain burner software on Win 10. So I bought and installed the new laser unit for nothing ;D Well, now I have the original to use, if the newer one will die someday :) And the program was (and is) Padus Discjuggler. It has a free test-program and it's enough. I couldn't get the images I downloaded to work with any other way. They only worked, when burned with Padus Discjuggler... Anyway, would love to get even better retrocommunity on Jaguar. It got a big boost, when they started to transfer ST-games to it. Which I really didn't like, because the machine had so much more potential. Even though it's a very flawed system...

This is cool, it's really impressive what fpgas can do now. As for Aliens vs Predator, the source code was published awhile ago, I think legally? I wonder if we'll ever see a source port for it, having looked at it a lot of the code is tied very intimately to how the Jaguar worked, but just think of the improvements a modern source port could bring!

You can use Reflex Adapt to USB a Jaguar controller in or honestly I used a keyboard. Num pad, WASD and three keys for the ABC

Installed it but the games just give me a black screen. Does it need a BIOS file? On the plus side, I had another go at running the N64 turbo core and this one worked like a charm (the previous one just shut my Mister down!). Hope you're feeling better!

Jaguar is often treated as a joke. But, when considering that this is 1993 hardware and what kind of overall games library outside Japanese developers were at the time, -then Jaguar does not feel outdated. Just complicated. It did not help either, that most 3D -games for Jaguar were too ambitious free rolling 360° movement fps -games done by small teams with limited budget. -Nowbody does those even nowadays. I've haven't seen properly working "Descent" since Forsaken.
