So I got all 3 Atelier Rorona/Totori/Meruru of Arland games and was finally able to enjoy them. Good to see that the series still goes on but I am concerned about Tecmo Koei's possible censorship in future titles considering the state of the games industry at the moment amongst the larger Japanese companies who want to chase for that Global Audience as it can ruin what made Japanese games so special in the first place.

I didn't realize how recent some of these games were or how big of a deal the Arland Trilogy was, but it really set the stage for a full decade of Atelier, at least until Ryza came along. Too bad they stopped dubbing the series, cause it's burst in popularity probably would've been even better had they kept it (and it'd be a lot easier to convince people to give a chance). The trilogy releases of the recent games hold up really well though and make for easy recommendations to people who have those doubts for sub only games

english dubs are always cringe, glad they stopped doing them
@Chronoflation2 жыл бұрын
@@ダニエル-x5d Sure thing Daniel. Glad they stopped adding more optional content to games that would increase the number of people who would be willing to play the games and make it more accessible for people who prefer even bad dubs over a subtitled experience. So much justice is done in removing that content.

@@Chronoflation Dubs are not free though. If they think the additional funds for dubbing does not return enough sales to justify it, it only makes sense that they'd drop it.
@Chronoflation2 жыл бұрын
@@Yuxkta Yeah, but I think they could've brought it back with the surge of attention they got with the Ryza trilogy. I'm not saying that they have reasons to not dub that don't make business sense. I just think there is always a long-term benefit to appealing to more people that they can't do without one. May cost more in the short-term and knock off a bit of profit, but it could be long-term beneficial to at least do an English dub. I'd understand not wanting to do all of the EU languages since that's such a broken up market, but English makes enough sense with how big the US market is alone, not to mention UK and Australia. I think the series actually sells the most in the US these days, so it'd make sense to appeal more to your largest audience. I'm pretty decent at making company marketing plans because I focus on long-term growth over short-term gain. The series really is getting more attention than ever before, so they should now capitalize on that attention and start dubbing while they can, I think.

I recommend the Arland Trilogy release for a first step into more modern games. Totori will feel a little old, since the first entry, Rorona, was remade using a similar style to the much upgraded Meruru, the final entry, but it otherwise is really a great entry point for a great price, since you basically get $10 off each of the games with the trilogy, and if you get it on sale, all the better
