Athearn Genesis SP Semi Daylight MT-4 Mountain w/ Tsunami 2

Very attractive and handsome SP MT-4 class Mountain type locomotive model, the daylight color scheme applied to the tender make this locomotive look unique and interesting. I hope that Athearn has made improvements to these MT-4 engines such as adding more weight to the locomotive as well as them being equipped with the tsunami 2 sound decoders and led lighting- Tom.

My MT-4 came in recently and I wasnt too happy with the default chuff rate, I fixed that my setting it above 85 like you said, I also changed the whistle to the Air horn and now I love this model to death!

@TheUnionPacificGuy It's a good runner for sure, the sound out of the box was the only thing that bugged me. I'll eventually work on the DDE sensitivity, so it's a bit more audible at speed.

@@SCL3618 For the Decals that come for the number boards, do you have to cut them out or do they come off and fit on the board?

@TheUnionPacificGuy They're just waterslide decals, so you'll need to cut them out, soak in water until release and apply to the board. I used a quick cover of microsol/set to lock them down.

picked one up a few days ago. Spent about 20 minutes on the CV settings to make it actually work realistically (I'd recommend setting CV 114 to 93 for 4 chuffs per revolution). I love how I can switch back and forth from whistle to airhorn.

Looks great and sounds great! Really hoping that we get some more 4-8-2 or 4-8-4 variety. I'd especially love a good HO scale Rock Island Northern!

Broadway Limited will be your best bet there, I can very much see them using a common underframe on brass hybrid builds to cover a group of Northerns that won't get covered in diecast otherwise.

@@engie809 The club uses a Digitrax system, hooked up to JMRI software and a wifi router to allow phone control. This can be accomplished on a smaller scale for both Digitrax and NCE systems, as they make wifi adapters to allow control via the Withrottle or Engine Drive apps. They're essentially small routers, allowing you to hook in wirelessly and talk to the system.

@JonsGarage89 It's been around for a while, the feature is known as DDE- Dynamic Digital Exhaust. Most factory units don't come with it enabled, so it flies under the radar.

@JonsGarage89 Usually it can be enabled with some CV tweaks, but it should be on all decoders minus the barebones chips like Bachmann soundvalue. Soundtraxx has a few videos on their channel explaining more about it and how to set things up.

@cowcatcherstudios5759 The recording on engine has been around since Econami decoders, just comes with whistle reverb programmed in.
