As an atheist living in Turkey, this makes me so sad. Lately, Molla regime has been killing a lot of Iranians in Turkey. They used to kill very influential Turkish atheists, too, in the 90s. Too bad that with Erdogan, Turkish state hence police etc all became Islamists and they don't mind atheists being murdered.

I have been to Iran with my wife in 2016, and it was our honeymoon actually as well as visiting the religious cities of Qom and Isfahan. It’s a very beautiful country with nice people but many hate their government. They are repressed even after the revolution, and the country has actually gotten worse than before 1979 IMHO. Iranian Rials are literally worthless and the Iranian passport has become much weaker than before in terms of traveling to other countries without a visa.
