In an unusually amicable discussion, Frank is approached by an Atheist student to discuss what it really means to identify as an "atheist" and "Christian" these days. Plus, in a moment of refreshing honesty, this student admits that choosing to follow Christ would not be a matter of proving it all to be true, but whether or not he agreed with its moral standards.

That’s a hard question. I firmly believed in God, but I didn’t want to follow God because I wanted to do what I wanted to do. After some soul searching I finally decided the wisest thing was to take His offer and follow God. I was 7 years old. Now I’m 82. Incredibly blessed, and still following.

But nonetheless, they try to say it's theirs. Which is interesting when they also now state that they don't believe in free will. That's why he is saying that "although" and implies he can still appreciate it. It's because he holds a misinterpreted view that people don't have a choice. SAME HERE DUDE 😎. Well Atheism is nonsensical and presuppositional blanket statement that one is not convinced of the existence of God or gods without any reasoning for doubting the existence of said God or gods. May The Grace of The Lord God be with you brothers and sisters in Christ our Lord This has nothing and everything to do with the video but please listen if you want to otherwise leave it alone and ignore it. Hello my name is Justin and I'm a 22 year old Christian and Apologist but I'm also a college student. I'm not a closed minded Theist as I have nothing against Atheists or unbelievers as I speak to them often to understand their reasons for unbelief but we as Christians are convinced of God's Existence due to many real factors). I'm not trying to convert anyone or convince anyone to become Christians as that's The Holy Spirit's job to help people believe but only explain why I believe in Jesus Christ. There's actually evidence of God's Existence in Christianity. First of all there's proof that Jesus of Nazareth existed in history since the writings of Tacitus, Josephus Flavius, Pliny the younger and other historical documents prove that He was living two thousand years ago that even scholars both religious and Atheists agree with historically speaking but not that He's The Divine Son of God because obviously they don't. I'm going to give you historical and archeological evidence for God's Existence as The Scriptures have prophecies that predate the events recorded in them by several millennia including Matthew, Hosea and Zechariah which prophesy accurately of the people of Israel becoming a nation again after over 1900 years of being scattered around the nations since the destruction of the Temple in Jerusalem in 70 A.D. spoken of by Christ in Matthew 23:29-24:3 and returning to their homeland after The Holocaust with Jerusalem as their capital in 1948 exactly as Jesus The Christ said. The prophets including Daniel spoke of the time where several world empires would arise and fall including the Babylonian kingdom, Medes and Persians, Roman Empire, and Saladin and the Muslims which went in consecutive order for the past few millennia. The people of Israel becoming a nation after The Holocaust in 1948 (ironically the melting point of gold as God compares Israel to gold that's tested in fire in Zechariah 13:8 and Jeremiah 16:15) exactly how Jesus The Christ said would happen since God us everything to come in The Scriptures and not just because people were working towards as Atheists claim which are impossible for any regular man to predict. Just before anyone says Christianity is a white man's religion made to oppress blacks during slavery you obviously aren't aware that the first Christians were Jews in The Middle East and that Christianity just like any religion can be used by evil and corrupt people to oppress others but you forget that the first Abolitionists/Civil Rights activists were Christians who sought to abolish slavery, racism, segregation, injustice and prejudice throughout American history. Jesus The Christ loves you enough not to give you what we all deserve which is God's Wrath by His Own Blood. Charles Darwin didn't originally come up with The Theory of Evolution over 200 years ago as it is mentioned in the writings of Ancient Greeks who believed in Demons that gave knowledge to philosophers. Evolution makes no sense when nothing has evolved after thousands of years of human history and supposedly the first creature came from primordial sludge several millions of years ago funny how they won't believe that God an Eternal Almighty Spirit Being created us from the Earth) which came from a supermassive expansion of matter at high temperature that inexplicably created everything in the known universe that supposedly came from nothing billions of years ago. How did the organs evolve before there were bones, skin, substance and how did any creatures see before eyes evolved? I've studied evolution and abiogenesis in the past and read Darwin's " Origin of The Species" and I'm not convinced of macro Evolutionary biology whereas I accept micro Evolution such as speciation and adaptation because there's no evidence of macro Evolution nor clear observable examples of it where living creatures evolve into other kinds of species plus the fact that fossils don't show evidence of evolution and genetic entropy rules out evolution. The question begs how did two genders evolve from a common ancestor with a perfectly hospitable and sustainable environment with breathable oxygen and resources to survive on inexplicably? Atheists have the burden of proof to explain how everything came to be and why our existence is possible without the Existence of God from an godless perspective just as Christians have to provide evidence of God's Existence and the validity of His Word. Evolution requires life to already exist in order to take any effect in living organisms so it doesn't account for the existence of Life and reality. Also evolution is impossible because it goes against The Law of entropy and the second Law of thermodynamics because evolution makes things better whereas nothing continues to get better but decays and turns to absolute destruction in the end. Mark Ridley an Evolutionist said "No evolutionist whether gradualist or punctuationist uses the fossil record as evidence in favor of The Theory of Darwinian Evolution as opposed to special Creation". God's Existence is made perfectly known and observable in the universe as demonstrated in His Handiwork in the intelligently designed manner that Creation was made, human consciences and consciousness historical and archaeological evidence of God's Word being valid history, fulfillment of Bible Prophecies God in His Holiness and Righteousness could give us what we deserve in Hell for our since but He's merciful to give us free will to choose to accept or reject His gift of salvation by grace through faith in His Son Jesus. I don't mean this is any condescending manner but if you'd like to discuss The Scriptures with me or have me listen to your view on anything my instagram account is Savage Christian Kombatant.

Atheism is not believing in a god. A-theism. No believing It is not an assertion that gods don't exist. It's not believing, generally due to a lack of any incontrovertible evidence, that one exists. Agnosticism is not believing that we could know if a god exists. A-gnostic. No knowing. Agnostic does not mean "I'm not sure." It means, I don't think there's a way for us to know. If some being did present itself as a god to me, I would still be doubtful that it was the supreme being that created the universe and rules over everything. And even if I was pretty sure, I'd still rebel against it, because he's a shitty god. Both positions are completely absurd, smh. Now I will say that many people claim to be Christian, but yet, they don't obey God and follow his commandments. And as Christians we know that the judgement first starts at the house of God. 13 But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ's sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy. 14 If ye be reproached for the name of Christ, happy are ye; for the spirit of glory and of God resteth upon you: on their part he is evil spoken of, but on your part he is glorified. 15 But let none of you suffer as a murderer, or as a thief, or as an evildoer, or as a busybody in other men's matters. 16 Yet if any man suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God on this behalf. 17 For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God? 18 And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear? 19 Wherefore let them that suffer according to the will of God commit the keeping of their souls to him in well doing, as unto a faithful Creator.

Going back to your analogy, Jesus says "trust me" from both sides. He doesn't say it's safe.

Some of us will barely scrape in, with loss, but still saved. All who reject Jesus Christ will not be saved. And we will face the consequences of what we do. You guys think in Either / Or, Must. But you need to understand. God is a person, and you cannot force Him to do anything. He will do as He wills. And He gives each one of us the free will to choose to be with Him for eternity. His promises are Yes and Amen. (Including the if you do bad you will be punished promises.) Obviously a good dad is not going to give his son access to power tools without safety lessons first. Otherwise the son could do serious harm to himself and others. We ate the fruit. We wanted to become like God. He's giving us the room and opportunity to try. And the lessons that humanity continues to not learn is no matter our progress, God still has to come down to meet us, because our efforts aren't enough to get "there". 3:20 The atheist is (again), trying to use the story of Abraham and Isaac as his crutch for not adhering to the Bible. In the atheist’s head he’s thinking, “If God tells me to kill my son, that’s immoral, so I won’t do it, therefore your God is evil.” Blah, blah blah. Here’s the problem. The atheists NEVER finish that story. So, I’ll put on my Dana Carvey imitating Ross Perot hat and ask, “Can I finish? Can I finish, can I finish, can I finish!” The story ends with Abraham NOT killing his son. Why? Because the story-the lesson to be learned-is to obey God’s command, even when you do not understand why. Want to know why this is 100% logically sound? Because parents do this all the time! Parents constantly tell their kids to do something that the kid doesn’t want to do and doesn’t understand why they’re doing it. But you (the parent) do! Because you have a firmer grasp on reality than your child does. THAT is the lesson or the comparison to be learned.

And if choosing the Christian one; is it the Catholic one or the protestant one? And if it is the protestant one; is it the current one or the one from, say, the 1950's. Because what is 'acceptable' now and what was acceptable in the 1950's are very different (divorce, female clergy, LGBTQ tolerance, etc.). Who decided and approved these changes? People as a whole...society. If there were no God and no Satan trying to deceive people, wouldn't there only have been clear Gods of the Gaps? These aren't fictional testimonies and events. So on and so forth... you should really look into Jesus with an open mind. Or if you want to continue thinking that the entire universe and everything in it came from a giant or small ball of nothing out of nothing, or whatever, then that is your choice. God provided proof. People saw that proof and died for it. Also on your note about acceptable behavior/society norms; There's a difference between trying to warn people and hating people. Hate is akin to Murder according to God. Sexual sin, be it heterosexual or otherwise is still a sin. Watching porn is the same type of level of sin as having sex with the same sex. @@TheRealTrucido "Why does the Hebrew Bible (Old Testament) and Christian Bible (New Testament) have so much proof of the people, places, events and prophecies coming true?" Very little of the Bible can be corroborated historically. A few places...a few people. But none of the supernatural claims can be. And how people have twisted and interpreted things to be "prophetic fulfillment" is irrelevant. This is just a "believe these claims as truth". Not actual verification of a claim. "Or if you want to continue thinking that the entire universe and everything in it came from a giant or small ball of nothing out of nothing, or whatever, then that is your choice." @Deston Swan , the difference is there is tons of evidence for Christianity and zero evidence for leprechauns. Also, the worst case scneario if no leprechauns exists is you may never find a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow; whereas the worst case scenario if you reject the salvation offered as a free gift from God, then you spend an eternity apart from him, by your own well-formed choice. . Saying "there's no evidence for Christianity" denies the over 25,000 early manuscripts of the Bible we have which agree to within 99.7% accuracy of transmission, the well-ordered universe, the fact that we know nothing material comes into existence without a source (and thus presupposes a non-material creator), testimony of extra-biblical sources, the rapid growth of Christianity in spite of tremendous persecution (no other worldwide religion grew without state sponsorship except Christianity) and a host of other arguments and evidence backed claims. There are literally TONS of evidence, so to compare Christianity to leprechauns is a false comparison from the start. . Suggestion: Try examining all the evidence for Christianity some day, and then after careful study decide if you reject it or not.... there's plenty out there to keep you busy for several years if you care to make the effort. If you do not care to make the effort....fine and dandy...but then you most certainly must give up making the claim that there's "not enough evidence" if you don't care to study it in the first place or risk being intellectually dishonest.

Under a microscope when filtered light is aimed straight at an Isotopic stone such as diamond and ruby, it passes straight through and the stone just looks black and grey, when the same is done to Anisotropic stones such as Sapphire and Jasper, the result is all the colours of the rainbow and quite beautiful to behold. This is due to the compound makeup of the stones to put it crudely. So we have Isotropic and Anisotropic stones. Now the book of revelation was written over 2000 years ago when none of this was known, nor did they have the means to know this, yet revelation 21 lists 12 gem stones that are used in the building of the new Jerusalem, all 12 listed are Anisotropic stones that will radiate every colour when pure light is shone on them. Christians always hold up the story of Abraham as if it's a story that makes god worthy of respect. God says "Thou shall not murder", but then commands a father to murder his son as a test of loyalty. This is both hypocritical and immoral and christians also forget the story of Jephthah where god made a deal with him where he would sacrifice the first thing to come through his door and in exchange god would help him win his war, knowing in advance it would be Jephthah's daughter. God didn't stop the sacrifice in this case, accepted it, helped him kill his enemies and this is also considered "moral". So basically what Frank and others support is blindly following the commands of god....because it's god and anything he commands must necessarily be good, only because it's god. Under that mentality, anything immoral can become good, even murder, child sacrifice, torture...you name it. So while a good christian might feel justified murdering their own child, I would tell that god to go f himself, because any god who would require such an evil act of me...certainly is no god worthy of my worship! My morality is superior because I would not murder my own son or daughter, just because a god commands it.

Something the wandering Jews, thousands of years ago, thought was important enough that they took from oral tradition, and inspired by God, committed that story down to scrolls. Thousands of years later, scientists, 4:58 using mathematical concepts not available to those Jews, have decided the preponderance of evidence is, without using the word God, exactly as described in Genesis 1. Strange. I recently, in the last year or so, thought about the concept of faith which coincided with how I view confidence. It was during college years that I discovered that confidence can be built and that ultimately it shouldn't be built from nothing. It is built on doing something and being successful at it. As I eventually internalized that more and more, I realized that the whole notion of just believing in yourself as if you just need to believe was false. Confidence is not built from nothing. That's wrong. It needs a ground - a firm one - to stand on. Anyone who really knows sports will tell you that the importance of winning is to build confidence. The success tells you you really can. Later on, that's when I questioned the notion of blind faith. Somehow I coincidentally thought that that notion of faith is wrong, and thought that to have faith, you need to have something. Something to build it upon. That made more sense. Similar to how you shouldn't just believe someone when they tell you a story. You need something. A little evidence or something solid, coherent, etc to push you towards the direction of believing. If you have that, then that makes your faith stronger than if you didn't base it off anything. And given some of the explanations I've heard from people about science being in favor, and listening and thinking about a few things, it makes more sense. You answering that definition about what atheism is just happened to coincide with what I already thought about faith.

Latin, the prefix A (such as in atheist and agnostic) refers to without following with a word. Theist being belief in god/gods. Atheist becomes without belief in god/gods. Agnostic in itself is meaningless. It is refering to knowledge, but knowledge about what? That is what needs to be specified, for examble: I am agnostic regarding the existence of god/gods. Now we have demonstrated a consistent use of the prefix A. Frank here says that the A in Atheist means the negative position. Here the Atheist becomes belief in no god/gods. If Frank was being honest. "Agnostic regarding the existence of god/gods" would now mean knowing there is no god. But that is not what he means, demonstrating an inconsistent use of the prefix A. Further, Is Frank really surprised that the atheist would go against Gods command to murder his son? It makes it sound like that if Frank thinks he heard God command to murder everyone, Frank would say "okely dokely" and start doing Gods command. Here it would seem that the atheist is more moral than Frank. Frank is a dangerous person in comparison. One lose thought and he will go out an do "Gods words", whatever he imagined it to be. (wanted to imagine Frank saying "okely dokely" like Ned Flanders, or start making an epic rant like Father Anderson)

It is very true that the Bible is not evidence for the supposed resurrection of Jesus, but it is all we have. Once we leave the Bible behind, there is no evidence for the resurrection of Jesus-it must be taken on faith or not at all. That in itself leads to the conclusion that the resurrection probably did not happen. Even if we accept that the gospels are reliable accounts unless proven otherwise, they are not satisfactory evidence for the resurrection of Jesus. An empty tomb is evidence of nothing more than an empty tomb; a story about an empty tomb is not even proof that there actually was an empty tomb. In fact, resurrection stories were not uncommon in antiquity, with Daniel Lynwood Smith saying, in Into the World of the New Testament, that neither Jews nor gentile converts would have seen the resurrection and ascent to heaven as unique or evidence of Jesus’ divinity.

Frank needs a new dictionary because he sure doesn't know what the work faith means. Then again, apologists like him just change the meaning of words to suit their purpose so you can never have a sensible discussion with them. I do agree with those who say they don't believe there's a god, it's pretty weak. Frank doesn't know for sure there's a god and more than I know for sure there isn't. Just that the evidence for any god is completely absent, no supernatural explanation required for anything we've seen in the universe ever.

I only got halfway in but Frank's response is poor. "I just think that's a copout and it doesn't say anything about the real world" - Because sometimes we don't know the answers. When we don't know the answers it's not a copout to say we don't know. Frank is coming from a position here that you must have an answer to the big questions and if you don't have an answer then it's a copout. Are we trying to pretend we are omniscient? Are we failing if we don't have a placeholder answer? Did we have the answers to everything 100 years ago? Why should we be acting like we have the answers to everything now? *Frank's logic is tragically flawed.* Frank doesn't like the definition because it's harder to attack so he dismisses it with terrible arguments. Then Frank goes on to repeatedly stick to his definition of what atheism is and refuse to accept other definitions. I would never be so arrogant to tell someone that they weren't really a Christian. But then again I have more integrity and are without the desperation that Frank Turek shows.

You're right: sometimes we don't know the answer to everything in life. But usually that is because we lack information, or much of the information is contradictory or takes an advanced degree of study to understand it. For example, we don't know if faster than light travel is possible, because no one has done it, and even some of the equations that suggest it is theoretically possible are so vast and complex that different experts in the field of physics differ on the interpretations those equations lead us to posit. . But that's not the case with historical Christianity. It is well-documented by sources both inside and outside the Bible, the language is relatively simple to where a high school student in the USA should be able to read it and understand the gist of 90% or more of it without any special study or commentary, the over 25,000 manuscripts of the Bible are plentiful and from very early dates while still agreeing to each other to within 99.7% accuracy which demonstrates reliability of data transmission, and the world-wide spread of Christianity without any state support is phenomenal and defies explanation if anything other than a world-altering event had occurred. Go back and re-listen starting around 1:00 mark. Frank says people who claim they don't know if there is a God are taking a cop out excuse when they say, "I need more information". There is a vast quantity of information to look at, but rather than making a careful study of what could be the most important thing they'll ever learn, they simply shrug and pretend like there isn't enough information for them to study. That is the very definition of copping out: ignoring the information that is all around you and easily available but then pretending like the reason you don't know is because you can't know, when the real reason is you're too lazy to make careful study.

@@sidwhiting665 The bible contains errors, contradictions, absurdities and immorality. I would think most would be thankful for some religions as we can see how many may be self-governed by their beliefs. to me it seems that we as humans need to think we have someone taking care of us even if there is not. To me, there is no greater miracle than the life on this planet and there is no need for a creator to have all the credit. if experience in life is all we really get, then I would suggest we all go get some.

Abraham didn't have to sacrifice his son, but because he was willing because he believed God, God told him to spare his son. Ironically, when Abraham was asked, He responded the Lord will provide a sacrifice. "The real definition of faith is trusting in what we have good evidence to believe." Are you kidding me, Frank? I defy you, or any Christian reading along, to present just one EVIDENTIARY FACT that substantiates the Christian faith. This question has never been (and apparently will never be) answered. Faith is an EXCUSE employed to justify believing in an _unobservable_ god WITHOUT any evidence whatever. Truth comports with REALITY, not the contrived emotional states of an imagined relationship with a mythical deity.

But you are not saved by the commandments. 1. Acknowledge you are a sinner and that you feel sorry for your sins/wrong doings (repentance) because ... (Rom 3:10) "As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:" (most people dont even think of themselves as a sinner) 2. Believe in thine heart that Jesus died and shed his blood for your sins on the cross, was burried and rose again on the 3rd day (1 Cor. 15:1-4) (Rom 10:9) "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved." (Rom 10:10) "For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation." 3. Ask Jesus to be your saviour No commandments. We do good works and keep commandments because we are saved and are grateful for eternal life but we dont do good works to get or stay saved. Nobody can be 100% sinless, only Jesus could. Now if you keep living in sin as a Christian then you reap what you sow in the FLESH (1Co 5:1) "It is reported commonly that there is fornication among you, and such fornication as is not so much as named among the Gentiles, that one should have his father's wife." (1Co 5:5) "To deliver such an one unto Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus." Eternal salvation once newborn, God purchased our soul with his blood (Eph 1:13) "In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise," (WE ARE SEALED, CANT LOSE) (Eph 1:14) "Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory." God also chastises his children when they do wrong, but you dont lose salvation.
