Wasn't Hell only added later and doesn't actually appear in the original bible? Or am I thinking of Purgatory? I know there's a bunch of things that isn't in the Bible and christians just don't care because they've never read it.

@@HotDogTimeMachine385 The word Hell doesn't appear in the New Testament that the Bible doesn't seem to speak of a definitive realm of the afterlife so dedicated to the torture of the wicked, written in Koine Greek, that dialect of ancient Greek derived from Attic Greek that was THE common language in the Mediterranean come Alexander's conquest of Achaemenid Persia, the NT utilizes _Hades_ as the word for the afterlife - the netherword, the realm of the dead to which _all_ men descend. Jesus (in the gLuke at least) speaks in parables, that he tells of the wicked in the end times (likened to weeds that grow among the regular weeds of the overall harvest) being cast into fire that they'll be burned, yes, they'll be wholly consumed and so reduced to ashes [bcuz what do things _do_ that they're on fire, huh?], not that they'll be on fire such that they'll be in the act of _burning forever,_ ergo _eternal punishment._ But, eh, yes, there are later Christian texts written after the Gospels that do tell of a torment in the afterlife, most notably the 2nd century (100s AD) _Revelation (Apocalypse) of Peter._

An example of the god-fearing zealots' perpetual ignorance is when they ask the question 'Do you believe "in" god'. It is a viciously loaded question. Instead of asking someone if they believe there is a god, they use the inference that god does exist. So unless you reply 'yes' the inquisitor is going to assume you are either a pariah or soulless witch or god-denying fiend or all of the above; depending on their religious indoctrination.

Someone actually told me that it is his "duty" to try and convert people by "sharing the news", like we don't already know about God and Jesus... like this is "news". Then he said "Me not sharing the news is the equivalent of me having the cure for cancer and not telling anyone". This might be the dumbest comparison I've ever heard.

Atheist don't prefer to follow rules, just because someone higher said so and accept it as good, while that is exactly what Christians are supposed to do. And yeah, what if atheist do claim to have the moral high ground, when we don't support slavery, stoning people, killing kids and gays, and taking rights and freedoms away from people we don't like, while that is what Christians, and specifically the bible do. And do you mean that you don't like to follow the rules of your religion? If so, you are a pretty weird person.. Moral high ground? I think it's you who have a source that says your moral is the absolute truth and that noone else have got it right. Or have I misunderstood something? :) And how did any of that made atheists religious? Because we follow the law? And are moral? :)

I'm arguing with a gentleman who doesn't believe in evolution on another channel. He says show him the evidence. He doesn't understand what evolution is or what a theory is. "They still haven't proven evolution true". He is about as disingenuous as it gets. He thinks if I can't prove evolution to him it means his good did it. I don't know what else to say when he asks about the"missing link".

The only reason an atheist might say something akin to "who made god" is when theists argue that nothing can exist without a cause (they never seem to be able to prove that GOD is that cause but whatever)... so someone might counter with "ok.. so what caused god" in which they will say "well he doesnt count.. hes special" thus screwing over their entire argument.

Yes, that's a good question but the issue is this cannot challenge their belief system because the religious leaders already have a "cookie cutter" answer for this which is "God is the first cause" or "God cannot be bound by physical limitations or by the natural laws", etc, thus this is not going to challenge their belief system at all and actually reinforce their beliefs and the stereotypes that atheists dont understand "the glory of God"

God is the epitome of Holiness because He is sinlessly perfect, A sinner (liar, sexually immoral, taking the Lord’s Name in vain, thief etc) cannot be in the presence of God or else he will be utterly consumed therefore repent of your sins and put your faith in Jesus as your Lord and Saviour to go to Heaven.

"Who made god" isnt an argument in and of itself. Its a response to the watchmaker argument that says that any sufficiently complex thing would require a designer therefore god is necessary. But by their logic that would mean that god would have needed a designer to create him. And saying that he doesn't is special pleading

Not specifically the watchmaker. It's about contingency. If everything is contingent on something else, you have two choices. There is either an infinite chain of contingency, or there is some cause that is itself uncaused (uncreated).

The right response would be to point out that they need to demonstrate the existence of such a being, which is where they would use an argument like the watchmaker argument. Then you can ask "who created God" but if they only said what you said, then asking would be dumb

As a Christian, or just a believer in God, I really enjoy watching videos like yours because I honestly agree with alot of points you make. A lot of social media Christian content creators can be and a lot are, super toxic and dangerous. To basically say, "I'm right, you wrong, you go hell" is down right disrespectful but also it closes out so many people to actual conversations that could be had. Also to be so arrogant in your beliefs that you're lifting yourself up by putting down people who don't share the same belief as you is literally the COMPLETE opposite of what God teaches, and this goes for both sides (not you 😂) I just really wish as a society we could have these talks bc at the end of the day, were just humans existing on the same ball floating in space

I remember asking my religious studies teacher in Catholic school "Who made god?" But what do you expect... I was like 7 years old at the time, and the teacher literally just finished saying that God made everything. The natural follow up question of a dumb 7 year old would be who made God? I was not invited back to religious studies after that. Something about corruption the minds of the children.

My 7 years old daughter asked me this exact question recently and I told her I didn't think God as a person exists. I'm always careful because I won't want her bullied in school - she's already an immigrant's child in a fairly white school - but I'm not going to lie to her either. I told her exactly what I believe : the world as we know it is full of intricate wonders that follow infinitely complex laws and we barely scratched the surface of them. The beauty of it all lies in the miracle that all those laws allow us to be alive and experience reality for the time being. It can all just be and it makes our short lives all the more special for it. Not the best answer, but it was 11pm!

My favorite question to ask a theist is "If you had the power to end a child's suffering, would you?" because if they answer "Yes" (An honest answer you will never get from a theist) then it shows that their god is a monster. If they say "No" then that makes THEM into a monster. They always dodge it, every single time.

I've sometimes asked my religious mother similar questions, but usually the answer is either "God wants to test people and their faith" or "God only lets so much bad things happen to a human that they can handle".... And I'm usually like, why the f would I want to serve a god that randomly dishes out misfortune to people (especially if they are his "servants") even though he allegedly has the power to take all the bad stuff away. Stuff like Heaven and Hell, Angels, ,evil Spirits, the Lord Jesus (not worthy at all), a miracle happened to me that saved my life (thank you God) & so much more. "Who created the universe," and "Why is the universe here," or "Why does the universe exist," are loaded questions because they automatically assume someone had intentions to create the universe. "How did the universe begin," is a much better question to ask, as it isn't loaded. One asks what was the intention or being that did it, the other asks what the mechanisms were that lead to the universe's expansion.

Second of all, if I agreed that Jesus di exist, why does it make sense for an all knowing God who knew Adam and Eve would "fall" to make the rules where they do fall and then thousands of years later he sacrifices himself to himself for himself to forgive everyone else. Couldn't he have just forgiven? Your God is either an idiot or this isn't actually true. Considering there's no evidence for this God, I'll go with the latter.

Plus, there are different religious denominations in different countries that all disagree with each other. Even Christians often don't agree with each other. For example, Catholics go by the rules set in the Old Testament, and Christians go by the rules set in the New Testament. And then there's Judaism, Islam, Buddhism, Hinduism, Jehovah's Witnesses, etc. Not to mention the damage that was done to people in my country (Canada) to the Natives and in Conversion Camps by the Catholic Church, but that's a whole different story.

Ok I'm a Christian this question is for everyone. Why do you not believe in God and I don't mean that in a your stupid for not believing in God I'm genuinely curious. From what I understand is that the woman who created the video is saying she doesn't know but science will figure it out in the future or maybe we won't ever know but God isn't the answer. But I see everything around me and can't think that there has to be a creator from the way everything is made like the first video said who created the universe or what was before the big bang yes we don't know but there seems to be evidence that God created the universe from how everything is perfectly created for life from biology to chemistry. There is also evidence of the Bible being very documented and true true as in not made up plus there is evidence for the resurrection of Jesus plus the moral argument. That all points me to a creator. My purpose is not to prove God but to ask why atheists don't believe in God. Like what exactly makes you think it's better to believe there is no god than to believe there is 1

The Bible is shocking AT LEAST. I know at that time, in my country they would sacrifice goats and animals in general to Zeus or other gods. But never has there been mentioned that people sacrificed their CHILD to prove love for their God. Maybe psychopaths did sacrifice their children for self profiting reasons, typical murder stuff, but they would never write in literature about this being a beautiful thing. They'd be more likely to say "this child murderer did it for aphrodite and Zeus got mad, resurrected the child and raped its parent " or something like that could have been possible, but never celebrated as an act of loving God.

God brings Righteousness (may have short term suffering followed by long term pleasure- on earth and in Heaven). If you love yourself repent of your sins (lying, hatred, unforgiveness, sexual sins, taking the Lord’s Name in vain, stealing, dishonouring your parents etc) & believe in Jesus for forgiveness of sins. (Jesus died on the Cross as a sacrifice and defeated death by rising from the dead)

Make it about them specifically, because thats really the point right? We don't believe people who say there is a God because none of them have any evidence. A really common approach I get from anyone who doesn’t like that I’m not Christian boils down to the assumption that anyone exposed to the same data must come to the same conclusions. So if you don’t believe what I do you must not have access to the same information that I have. People call it judeochristian because their similarities in ideology far exceed their differences compared to other religions of similar area in Mediterranean that were also monotheistic and miles away from bibles teachings. The Bible is literally what created Christianity and Islam. So yeah, abrahamistic religions could be called judeochristian theology, especially in a country that was colonized by Christians and jews (both owned slaves and terrorized natives, both immigrants from Europe thay wanted to have privileges over natives and worked together to create a secular state that is based on the similar values these 2 ideologies have)

@N-John533yes, 2000 years ago christians were jews ethnically. However, the ones that did not follow Christianity were judaists while the other were Christians. Unlike judaism, Christianity didn't consider race and tribes, it didn't matter if you were related to Abraham or not. Judaists never believed Jesus was God's son like Christians (even 2000 years ago) did. So I think you use jewish as an ethnicity only on purpose, as if you don't know it's the only word that describes a set of beliefs (believers of judaism) and an ethnicity (in which some people might believe something and others dont). You do know it, that's why you chose to use the term that is argumentative to the original comment. The judaist jews did and do not believe Jesus was God's son.

In a vision I was shown a person who claimed to be Christian but started fornication (premarital sex), He died relatively young and went to hell forever (1 Cor 6:9). God’s holiness means He will not coexist with sinners forever therefore Repent (Luke 13:3) and have a relationship with Jesus.

@@Person-ip7iy No it isn't. To say that there MUST be an uncaused cause does not mean it's a fallacy. It's a logical conclusion born from observation of reality. It's Aquinas's 3rd Way. By observing that things are contingent, we can conclude two possibilities, either there is an infinite chain of causes, or there is an uncaused first cause. One of those two things must be true, and an intellectually honest person wouldn't call it absurd to lean either way.

I can answer that. the Greeks started the building trends of western buildings. Things like pillars and large marble buildings came from them. Then alexander the great spread the Greek culture and was of building to the nation he conquered in what is know as the age of Hellenism. Named after Hellen of troy. During this time Greece added Egypt to it's territory. Greek and Egyptian culture and building methods began to blend. Then the Romans came along invented concrete and continued these Hellenistic age styles but adding a Roman flair to them. Rome later fell. The dark ages came along but many of these roman building remained. Then the renaissance came along in Europe and the builders of that time were in awe of the old Roman buildings so they decided to copy them. Finally we get to the U.S.A and other western countries following the renaissance buildings of the enlightenment that still contained so much of all of the past building traditions. Here's another point the Romans loved to take Egyptian obelisks back home to Rome as war trophies and this helped start the obelisks at capitals trend. The founding fathers of the U.S.A decided to follow these trends and with the U.S.A inspiring other nations to follow those building trends. So now you know.

A couple of questions for Christians: 1: If God cannot commit sin, then why did he deceive Abraham into believing he needed to sacrifice his son? And I know what some folks will say: “It was a test, God didn’t actually want him to sacrifice Isaac, he wanted to test Abraham’s loyalty!” Cool motive, still deception. Which is a sin. Which God, by your own definition, is incapable of. It’s not even something Abraham could have misconstrued, God *told* him to go to a specific place at a specific time, and to sacrifice him as a burnt offering. There is no room for loopholes there, it’s just an outright lie. 2: It’s stated many times in the Bible that the only way to get into Heaven is to accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. Why, then, are some Christians insistent on the fact that infants and young children who tragically pass away are in Heaven? Some might argue that they haven’t committed any sins, that they’re pure, that they can’t even comprehend the difference between good and evil yet, and so it’s implied that they get a free pass, so to speak. To that I quote from their own Bible, “…for all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.” Was Paul the Apostle embellishing when he wrote this? If so, would that not count as blasphemy? Or maybe he wasn’t embellishing, and truly, every human being on this planet was born into sin, inherently doomed to Hell from birth. If so, what truly loving God would allow a child, incapable of comprehending language, much less the complexities and nuances of salvation, to be damned to Hell for eternity? What about miscarriages, stillbirths, those born with handicaps that render them incapable of comprehending such topics? If God is truly the master craftsman of the entire universe, designing every cell in our bodies to be placed exactly where He planned, why then would He create these individuals, only to snatch a chance at life and salvation away from them? He would be creating life only to damn it to eternal suffering. “But maybe through such tragedy, another soul would come to Him through it!” That’s trading one soul for another. Such a process implies that some souls are worth more than others. And again, to quote Romans 2:11, “For God does not show favoritism.” If he does exist, that is not an honest, fair, loving god. That’s deceptive, unjust, and cruel.

1. I thought the first guy's hard question would be "What/who made the big bang?" 2. I HAVE asked a version of "Who made god?" but not so much a "who" as "how did god get all that knowledge and power without evolving it due to survival needs and pressures somewhere?" I mean, apparently there was a place outside of space where no places exist, at a time outside of time where no time exists, and in this no-place at this no-time was a magical dude who knew everything when there was nothing to know and had unlimited power that had never been used and for which the dude had no need, and the first thing he ever did in his super short existence that spans no time and happens in no place is to say, in English, "Let there be light." (or Hebrew if you prefer). So I prefer to believe in a non-magical eternal cosmos that has always existed than in Steve the magical eternal dude who lived nowhere for no time but had unlimited magical knowledge and power. At lest one of those makes sense and doesn't rely on magic.

For those who believe in God, the mere idea that they have avoided serious illnesses like cancer or kidney disease, or accidents such as being hit by a car or struck by lightning, purely due to luck, is profoundly unsettling. The reassurance provided by their faith in a protective God against such occurrences cannot be underestimated. Therefore, presenting evidence to a religious person that their prayers are ineffective can be deeply disturbing, leading them to resist any challenges to their comforting beliefs out of fear. Rather than arguing with the religious, a more productive approach is to offer alternative sources of comfort to replace their fears; otherwise, their beliefs, no matter how irrational, will persist.

Free will is a major factor in our evolution. A creature that can think for itself can adapt to various situations and therefore survive over less autonomous creatures. Ironically, the idea that we may not actually have free will, due to determinism, is the product of the free thinking we evolved to have.
