I KNOW the M that you are referring to and honestly, I saw her on "Sky Life" (I think the clip you showed?) and I was so intrigued that I too, looked into her and I actually became MESMERIZED, like, "CAN I BE LIKE THIS BEAUTIFUL HAPPY WOMAN?" For a brief 10 minutes, I considered her and her classes and the probability of any kind of success with this. I almost had to physically shake off the spell. Honestly, her marketing worked like a SPELL on me. And Yeah, I had to consider that she was probably coming from a super privileged background and, of course, she's gorgeous so that in itself can work like a spell. This was interesting to hear your take on it and revisit this whole thing since I think I saw it 8 months ago or so.

No lie her marketing is magical. I don't judge anyone who follows her or pays for her programs. I do want to encourage people to take it slow and not get too swept up. You are so right, beautiful and charming teachers who are that sure of themselves can be... Not great

I am a physics student (third year in aa honours physics degree) and Id like to explain the double slit experiment by analogy. Imagine you go into a room blindfolded, and you are asked to determine the position of a ball on the floor without using sight. You'd have to feel around, and youd'd probably do something like measuring hand lengths from one side of the wall to the ball. It'd be really hard to make sure your measurement doesn't affect the results right? That is what we are doing in the double slit experiment, the way we measure the position of a particle at that scale changes the outcome. Now it isnt directly analogous, quantum physics is fundamentally probabilistic. But it isnt our mind changing the outcome of the experiment, it is the way we measure things.

The several hundred dollar price tag sets off alarm bells in my head. Any time someone is selling "classes" to the tune of that many Benjamin Franklins, I automatically assume something is off. Loved the video, hope to see you make more!

I too live in a conservative area of the country and our only witchy shop closed at the end of February, though it was bc the owner had been harassed by a next door organization. I’m still mourning the loss 🥲 Great video! You are far kinder with your words than I am in my head about people charging not-insignificant amounts of money for these kinds of services lol

Dropping the truth bombs! These people prey on the vulnerable and you're right - there's no regulation of any of this. As far as spiritualism in America goes - it's still the wild west out here. There's a great book called No Sacred Cows that probably ought to be on a required reading list for school kids. If the government can't stop these types of "businesses" they could at least work toward inoculating the masses against being taken advantage of.

I think our individualism causes people to just say "a fool and their money are soon parted" and just throw your hands up and blame the victim. I agree with you that education is key.
@carolinagaray76562 жыл бұрын
That sounds like an interesting book! I feel like this is a symptom of capitalism, though. Big businesses benefit from being able to use predatory tactics, and unfortunately our government is built around protecting corporations. But I think spirituality can be a way of rebelling against being preyed on by letting us recreate our lifestyles and perspectives! It just makes it harder for that to happen when there are so many indoctrinating/scammy influencers out there in these communities :(

Yeah, this makes a lot of sense. I think some of the people who buy these classes realise the classes are the secret and start some of their own. It's mostly personality cults I've seen. Once I saw someone selling online aura cleanses (I think it was aura, might have been more generic energy stuff) for like USD 400 a time. And get this, you didn't get anything, not even some sort of certificate or an e-mail that it's been done. And the faq had this thing explaining that you might not notice a change instantly, since it can be very subtle. Since it's a service you can't really get your money back afterwards, since it's hard to prove that your aura has not been cleansed by the provider. Seriously, if I didn't have a moral compass I'd be rich too, it's a smart move. Minimal work, maximum profits.

To push back a tiny bit, putting a bunch of emotional labor on your friends to hold you accountable and be your therapists is not being a very good friend. I'm a bit of a dumpster fire of a human, and I have a lot of friends who are also struggling, and asking them to hold my struggles or them asking me to hold theirs is a lot. I'm not saying to pay $100 an hour for this M person's life coaching, but the concept of having someone help you out for money is not out of line. Making a bunch of spurious spiritual claims is, so I'm on board with that part, but it's like paying for a professional organizer. Can you do it yourself or with friends for free? Yep! But there's a lot of benefit to paying someone to call you on your garbage when you need it.
@SednaWoo2 жыл бұрын
I agree that your friend is not your therapist but also a life coach is not a therapist either. If you have friends and a therapist then save your money and skip the spirit life coach. If someone does absolutely need a spirit life coach then they should really make sure they have at least some kind of qualifications.

I haven't started watching the Deep End yet but I did listen to the whole podcast deepdive called "The Gateway". Also, Mikey Atkins is a therapist who makes KZbin content and she just recently did a look at TS from that perspective and I highly recommend.

Clearly this person has financial support to have started her “ spiritual life coaching “ & to have that beautiful hat made? At no time before that specific interview did she have the publicity she acquired,so yes I find it extremely questionable that all of a sudden she had a massive following? It’s sad that someone can cheapen our practice just by having the “clout”? Honestly I’ve seen some of her videos & I must say that as long as she can make a buck on it she’s there? Just check out her multi orgasmic videos if you don’t believe she can coach you through anything? Like I said sad! I’m right there with your train of thought when someone’s audacity causes there head to not fit in their hat? At what point does it make us all look like a bunch of Charlatans? Question, isn’t she only like thirty years old? How does she have over thirty years of practice? Anywho now I’m annoyed thinking about this so I must go. Blessed Be 🔮
