I always love that in movies and books about the rapture, it is assumed that the moment all the "good" christians disappear society will suddenly devolve into a crime ridden murder/rape fest within a day. How poor must your out look be that you assume everyone will suddenly become thieves and killers within a day?

Someone should make a movie about the Norse Ragnarök. Showing what happens to humanity as the Norse gods do their final battle against the forces of evil as the Earth ends in a huge cataclysm. Thor and the Jorgmungandr killing each other, the Fenris Wolf swallowing the moon etc. All that good shit. So much more material to work with for a decent action movie on just the mythology; throw in some decent human characters in there as well and it would be just. fucking.epic.

I don't blame Nicholas Cage for doing absolutely any movie. I don't think he takes himself too seriously as an actor. I think he sees acting as just another job, but his actual life isn't acting. It's like being a doctor: every doctor wants to be the heart surgeon, but someone has to drain puss, and Nick Cage is happy to have a job, even if it is a lot of crappy movies. And he always gives it his best. I can respect that.

My parents believe in the rapture, and my mom consistently tries to convert me back to Christianity with little passive-aggressive things like "don't forget, when I'm gone, call your brother so he can take care of you" -__- Also, she can't wrap her head around the idea that EVERYONE IN AMERICA KNOWS WHAT THE RAPTURE IS AND THE WHOLE REVELATION MYTHOS THING If it actually happened, everyone would be like oh shit it's Jesus, nobody would be like "oh shit I have to get a tattoo on my hand? DarkLordLink Has she read revelations? Alot of religious people will be persecuted and killed. It will be religion versus religion. Government forcing corrupt police states upon everyone. It will be a cold war but way, way worse. Famine will be its highest in history, many cities will be destroyed by Earthquakes and many people will die before Jesus rules as King of heaven and throws Satan into the Abyss for 1000 years. The righteous aren't excluded from this massacre. If revelations comes to pass, she could easily die before "the rapture" happened. The rapture isnt even a proper christian belief, it was popularized by some guy in the 1800s. The only people who "might" be "raptured" wont be infants or toddlers. IT will be the 144000 that revelations refers to. And even then, there is some debate whether the 144000 are people who are living or have all passed on. (Im not religious in case this post confused you)

@Horvath_Gabor10 жыл бұрын
TurtleJen Well, of course there is no exact time for it. Humans have this thing called "development" over childhood we go through at different rates. All the "legal" ages are just that; shorthands for when it comes to laws because there is not enough time to evaluate every single person's maturity and mental age whenever there is a crime or even just minor offense. Not to mention, the whole "childhood innocence" thing is one of the more misguided "common sense" things. Children are not innocent, they are blank slates who doesn't know better and are thus capable of just as much cruelty as anyone else but without any ethical or moral compass that would stop them from doing so.

Here is my version of "Left Behind". The rapture happens people are stunned but do not go insane as many people who are not Christians know about the rapture and it is eventuality explained that this is what happened. The remaining government now seizes control of billions of dollars that belonged to ruptured Christians and that along with the fact no one is giving money to religion anymore accelerates social progress to an atheistic paradise and then Jesus comes back and is very sad as we now outclass Heaven.
@mactavish10007810 жыл бұрын
Wow. I never thought that as an atheist, I would want the rapture to happen.
@n0etic_f0x10 жыл бұрын
Fap P. Underboob I thought of it because when I was a Christian it was always weird that if a massive portion of the world vanished people would go straight to criminal insanity. I always wondered why people would not ask what happened and why no one would suspect the rapture. Pastors told me it was because it would leave the world without God and a world without God is Hell so the world would become Hell with no God to guide us. I found this a very poor explanation as it was just insane. It has no reason to happen, millions of people vanished, why are we not looking into that? Once we do look into it why did we not notice the connection to Christianity and realize this was the rapture? I was going to Seminary and this was one question that really bothered me and had me deconvert.

Then we take sperm cells and inject every fetus with a chemical that automatically makes them considered "sinful" so the human race can live on. Every government will focus on curing every disease the rapture brings forth, and we stack ourselves up with weapons to defend our territory from the battle of Armageddon. We develop a one-world democracy, and everyone who was taken away feels jealous that they didn't sin, because we'd be doing just fine. Now I can't wait for the rapture

That's the problem with Christian propaganda films, though. It's not like you can't have a good movie based off a Bible story, but the director has to allow allow it to be fiction. But propaganda films have an agenda. They need to preach a message to it's audience and it's always so tortured and full of itself. And that's what Left Behind is. It's a deliberate propaganda piece and you can't do anything with it without first removing all the self-righteous assholery. But Left Behind NEEDS to make a point that ALL the Christians are good, upstanding people who deserve to go to Heaven and if you're not a Christian, you do things like cheat on your wife, get addicted to drugs, shoot intruders with shotguns (_stuff no TRUE Christian would do_). The message is: all non-Christians may think they're moral, but they are only fooling themselves and the End Times will show them how lost they are. How can you make a good movie with shit like that?
@AdmiralBison10 жыл бұрын
you can't. Though luckily the target audience that are Christians generally don't read their Bibles completely for themselves anyway. You could probably put some gremlins with demon wings in the movie and most Christians will believe it.

I'm actually Christian, and I enjoy the hell out of these reviews. These two are totally inoffensive to me, though I'm sure that they piss off thin-skinned Christians. Bleh. Anyway, this movie IS terrible. The rapture is totally, absolutely not an actual Biblical concept. It's there to make people feel better from the absolute terror churches strike in their hearts about, ahahaha, being left behind. That being said, the Left Behind books are so good and the movies are so bad. I didn't even realize they remade the damn first one until I stumbled across it on accident, and my brain couldn't accept that they cast freaking Nicholas Cage. The way they portray the Christians in this movie is honestly how even I feel as I'm clearly going to hell because I refuse to go to any church. I always imagine it's 1000% worse for atheists, so it's kind of funny since they usually try their hardest to make these sorts look good, and it was the exact opposite. And that's like the most interesting thing ever, other than when Cage's character slaughters that plane full of people. Evidently, the authors of the series claim they were promised that the original movies would have multi-million dollar budget, and were livid when they found out otherwise upon release. They adore this version, stating that (despite criticism), it was the movie they 'always wanted'. 8[

its s weird. they build up characters like they're good people, people you'd root for, but they are left behind meaning they are bad people in the look of god... sooo ??? are they good people or bad people ? does it mean god will leave good people behind ? is that movie a christian propaganda or not ?

If God can rapture all the Christians up to heaven, why couldn't He rapture all the "bad" people down to Hell instead of flooding the planet? Why couldn't He rapture all the "bad" people out of Sodom and Gomorrah instead of killing all the kids that lived there with fireballs? Adding rapture to the mythology makes it worse, not better.

Don't use logic. That's the main aspect of religion. You can't have proper religion with logic. It just doesn't work, like simmilar magnet poles, and if you manage to force them together, they explode in a majestic "Fuck off!" as soon as you take away the massive force desperately trying to hold the two together.

@H0B0J0310 жыл бұрын
I just hope the rapture is actually a carnivorous trans-dimensional alien invasion disguised as a religious event which they had been subconsciously propagating among the human population by hi-jacking preexisting belief systems in order to get "consent" to be taken, and to incentivize them to keep their "purity", in order to harvest the stock of "pure humans" for their untainted oils and meats, and willingly of their own free will, as to avoid inter-Galactic intervention. Having for thousands of years implanting the psychic propaganda called the "near death experience" in order to gain acceptance of the believers, further solidifying their agreement to be taken to have their consciousness technologically imprisoned in the simulated facade of the slaughterhouse they called "heaven" as their bodies are harvested. They convinced the believer humans to want to raise their conscious vibrational frequency in attempt to "ascend" in order to facilitate the mass transfer of the human livestock, having been closer to the energy level than "impure humans" required to make the phase attenuation to be transported en masse to the home dimension of the Predators.

They are Elevators (The control surfaces at the rear of a plane that control the vertical motion of the aircraft) Normally I would of thought that clipping the end of your wing and therefore losing hydraulics would mean that all your control surfaces would stop working. Even if this happens you can still control the plane to a point using the engines, and it's very easy to lower the nose and descend by doing this.

@cortster1210 жыл бұрын
I remember watching the original 2000's version of left behind as a kid, and I was terrified because I was brought up christian and thought the movie was a representation of what will happen. For years any time I couldn't find my parents, but I found their clothes anywhere I thought I was 'left behind' and was going to be damned to witness demons roaming the Earth. This is what religion does to a kid's psych. Didn't help that my parents and 'Sunday school teachers' both said the end times were near.

When I was younger, I went to Goodwill to get some books and was excited when I discovered this pristine book series that, at the briefest of glances, seemed like a cool post-apocalyptic thriller. $2 dollars and twenty minutes of walking later, I sat down and began reading the first novel... It was only then that I realized what horrible mistake I had made... For the first time in my life, I shamefully walked the 20 minutes back to the Goodwill in the rain just so that I could return the books. No thank you, dear Tim LaHaye and Jerry B. Jenkins. No thank you, indeed.

I don't ever want to see Nicolas Cage in another movie again. He's terrible. If he did comedies than maybe, but he tries to be dramatic and he just can't do it. If he wants to be over the top than comedies are the only way to go. Kickass and Raising Arizona (mostly because Coens Brothers), were the only two good movies he was in.
