It also adds like a bit more to the lore. Honestly these guys are kind of like Suramar where their leader doing some crazy ass shit caused a split in society in which they dont agree with. Even post the old gods the old queen seemed reasonable and like she was willing to bring change to the Nerubian people. I think had she survived she eventually would of tried to ally with the humans down there or maybe even tried to ally with the horde on the surface. Its also kind interesting that they do tend to be kinda like elves in a way, how they carry themselves just a bit more spidery.

Facing a corrupted civilization, learning that there are some, who oppose the ruler, allying with the rebellion and slowly overthrowing corrupt governor. It is exactly suramar questline, but not only. Similliar themes with venthyr, warlords of Draenor too. I like nerubians and Xalatath, but I wish they would take different approach with plot progression. We find ourselves thrusted in a new zone with small group of well-known heroes -> we find a village where there are allies and we make a base of operation here -> through small actions we gather strenght and slay ultimate villain. I'd like a different pacing. Instead of world ending threats, maybe something lighter, like few smaller threats at the same time. Scarlet monastery, trolls, some cult, things like that Zuldazar was a nice ezperience. Trolls living in prosperiry who are overthrown by our adversaries due to ignorance. We end up on a loss instead of victory. An inverse experience. (Let's put aside the fact that prophet was the most suspicious character possible). The progression itself felt different at least

@@JamailvanWestering Cata had nice zones and the story was exciting in my opinion. Pandaria had one of the best stories I think. The zones, the music and the whole ambience on Pandaria was special. The story was funny and very dark at the same time. Garrosh with the Heart of Y'Shaarj was so good. And for Draenor I loved the Warlords and their individual stories. Also Shadowmoon Valley with Yrel and the other Draenai was cool. The music may was the best in Draenor. And Shadowmoon Valley was great overall. Just sad that they stopped putting effort into WoD.

I find a problem with WoW lore now adays it that i think the developers dont know how to create characterization with action and subtlety, instead everything is spoken to the player in the most hamfisted way and it just comes off as lame. Its just blah blah blah i do this i feel this blah blah blah. Instead of talking about how you are feeling or what your plans are why not show it? World Of Warcraft also just has a very strange tone like the people writing the dialogue think they are smarter than they actually are and are obscenely proud of themselves.

Tbh a lot of it is due to the questing mmo format. Since major characters are just set pieces to the background of your character, they got less room for subtlety. Honestly I think it was better when you didn’t spend any time with the faction leaders and thus they really seemed like leaders and mythical figures instead of awkward losers having midlife crisis in the middle of a battle and constantly doing therapy to eachother

Hard to do subtlety with the kind of community WoW is. Literally nobody pays attention to even the obvious stuff so having too many subtle elements wont work. You can tell by all the people speculating about "Titans coming to save us" when the game has been teasing the Titans as antagonists for ages now. People pay attention to just the cinematics and make up their mind for the story which is the most brainleas thing ever.

Every part of me hates seeing Orcs, Goblins and Trolls hanging out with Humans and Gnomes without trying to kill each other. World of Warcraft has really lost it's touch. I had my hopes up when Anduin was on the warpath but then they had to make Sylvannas the bad guy because of reasons. Trolls fought half the world for territory, does WoW need to keep upping the stakes and adding annoying gods and titans? I miss when Azeroth was just a place being invaded by orcs... Nerubians unlike the other three don't really follow the old gods. Even more, their relationship to them is more similar to hatred instead. They probably wrote it with Warcraft 3 in mind because Anub'arak thought they were only a legend. So ironically they're the most friendly to us bugs in Warcraft even if we spent more time with the Mantid(at least until now).
