Good for you climbing on a long travel bike, it must feel like a tank 🤪 I've a got a few bikes, my moto is "different bikes for different rides" I wouldn't take my 160mm full suspension bike tackling hills, I'll use my 120mm XC bike 😁😜

I’m running 25% atm but planning to try 30% as I’m still in the honeymoon period/getting to know one another 😂. Lots of dialling in to be done to get her sweet 😛. Thanks for watching 🤜🤛

Considering that it’s a big hitting rig, it’s extremely playful, more so than I expected. As for manuals and pops, compared to other bikes in this category that I’ve tested, it’s pretty good, as the geo is so dialled, although I imagine your skill level is higher than mine! @UPHILLPHILL I live in the US and really like the bike but tough to place an order for such an expensive bike you cannot demo plus need to wait 20 weeks to get it....yet looks so nice I may do it😅

@rataflas if you’re able to demo an Evil Insurgent, it’ll give you a basic idea but tbh the AM170 took the Insurgents capabilities to new levels I wasn’t expecting, it’s phenomenal. Another solid source of information if you’re really interested would be the Atherton bikes owners group on facebook, there’s a few members who are US based that may well be able to help you out. Food for thought then🤔. Because the AM170 has a straight seat tube it’s been designed to have it as low as physically possible, this gives an insanely low stand over height and allows for a big dropper, mine is 200mm but probably could have got away with 220mm (just!)

I went for the 170 as I wanted a rig to cover all of my riding and I’m generally hitting steep tech like the Dyfi forest + the bike park. It has amazed me just how incredibly capable it is at climbing though, so much better than I was expecting and Dan Atherton has said that it is as capable uphill as the 150 with the capability close to the 200 for the gravity sections👌. Over biked 😂Why buy a 170 to ride around friston forest or Southdown lol 😂 I could understand if you was smashing bike parks every weekend 130 150 better option

Yes, for Friston it’s way more bike than is necessary and to be honest, most modern MTBs are over biked for Friston, however, this bike suits me perfectly and it is exactly what I was wanting to allow me to progress. My local trails will always be fillers and leg spinners to maintain and improve my fitness so I’ll be continuing to be over biked and enjoying every second of it until I’m able to get back to my trips away for bike parks and steep gnar. Thanks for your thoughts though. 🤷🏼‍♂️
