Laird...Low heel recovery on his start, Boling...as you said try to be more relaxed in the alter half of his race, and he has a lot of what I'd say is wasted movement close to the end.

Is Terrance's stride frequency greater at the acceleration phase and throughout the race? Looks like he is turning over quicker and more?
@seifullaah733 жыл бұрын
That's crazy. It felt like he may have stumbled slightly around the 4th to 7th step and felt he had to quickly recover. He also has a lot of head movement in the beginning. But so many people told low heel recovery will improve stride efficiency as less time spent in the air but he doesn't. So is toe drag important. Also in top speed mechanics of the front leg hitting the ground is it pawing the ground with the leg straight in front or after high knee do you want to strike directly down rather than straightening and pawing. Thanks for that analysis.

Great review. I didn't see that you covered the loss of efficiency by Boling right out of the blocks. You can see Boling's head move side to side immediately as he comes out of the blocks versus Laird's head moving up and down. Laird's movement is less disruptive to acceleration and Boling loses time with a less efficient movement because he's trying to maintain balance while accelerating.
@ATHLETE.X3 жыл бұрын
Good eye! Definitely a lot of movement going on that isn’t helping him move forward efficiently. Thanks for your comment.

He's got the best top end speed in college and maybe the best top-end speed in the world. With him it's always a question of his start because in the East qualifier he had to come from behind it every race. He's still fast enough to do it in most fields but that's why you don't see him putting up 9.9's every race.

hi man hope you are doing fine I would like to ask you if hip trust can be an instrument to increase performance in the sprints I'll start again doing gym soon (interrupted for a certain virus) and because I have very big quads but weak glutes I was thinking to use in a first moment only posterior chain exercises and then, once those muscles will match the quads add squat and ecc. thank you for all the information bye
@ATHLETE.X3 жыл бұрын
Hey Emanuele, hip thrusts are good but sometimes they irritate my pelvic bone and femoral nerve, but this is typically only when I get to high weights. Lower weights don't give me problems. Reverse lunge is a good exercise for glute activation, so that might be one to try as well. I would aim for maybe a 60/40 or 70/30 split between posterior chain and anterior chain work just so you can work everything but emphasize glutes and hamstrings more.

What’s the age difference between T and M? Also, with world class coaching at this collegiate level, why does Matt’s starts still look uncomfortable and slow? Surely there could be potential to drop at least .25 of a sec right there alone.

@mikemike-id8ow3 жыл бұрын
Hey hope you get to see this Coach im a 100meter specialist i rarely do any distance longer than 100meters in training, i have power because I solely focus on speed work and short endurance based training. Recently i spoke to another pro athlete running good times in the 100meters he has a SB of 9.91...he told me for the past five months since he stopped doing the 200meters because of age and trying to run only the 100m at the olympics,he has solely been focusing on building speed-work and i asked him about endurance he said they would do a sled session of up to 50meters for endurance 50mx 6 sled pulls,do you think this is a smart plan ? Does it make sense for a person who only runs 100meter to overload themselves in training bu doing 150s,200s? Why is it that an NFL player who has no track experience never, never sprinted more than 120meters comes to a track meet and runs 10.30 in the 100m is it because the NFL training focuses on power and speed and no endurance as opposed to most track programs.....thus leaving an athlete fresh and stronger?
@ATHLETE.X3 жыл бұрын
My gut feeling is that the larger and more muscular the athlete, the more they can focus on things like longer distance sled pulls instead of longer distance runs, whereas skinnier athletes and those with lower absolute strength levels need to focus more on longer runs. Long runs can be draining on the bigger/stronger athletes if they do too much, seeing as they're doing a lot more work than someone who weighs less while running the same distance. Considering all this, that idea of doing sleds for endurance seems intriguing and maybe something I'll try myself!

Laird is kind of skinny. I don't see a lot of muscle development. He doesn't appear to be dead lifting or squatting 500 lbs or more, maybe 300 to 400 lbs if that. He doesn't look like he's been training with heavy weight.
@Aaron125613 жыл бұрын
Training with heavy weight is not always the answer for a sprinter. He has great elasticity from what I can see, so from what I see he is doing well from whatever weight training he is doing.
@ATHLETE.X3 жыл бұрын
Yeah I think Laird is the greyhound type of sprinter. My guess is if he went too hard on the heavy weights he’d end up discoordinated or feeling flat. He can still lift, but hitting slow grinders aiming for 1RM’s are probably not optimal for him.
@Aaron125613 жыл бұрын
