Sometimes when I watch Atlanta it feels like I'm watching a great surreal or A24 movie. Writers Jamal Olori, Stephen Glover Stefani Robinson, and Donald Glover have crafted a show with dark humor and sight gags but also sobering messages about racism and the obliviousness that comes with it. Also infusing real life tragedies while holding up a mirror to the incompetence of the Child Protective Services. The opening episodes of season 3 have been hard hitting with its own quirkiness and shock around its edges but in the end all rings true

I think I heard something about prosperous African American communities being flooded a couple of years ago. With how things are going with people doing their best to stop history from being taught, people might stop hearing about it. We hear people talk about pulling yourself up by your bootstraps and wonder why certain communities are not doing as well as others. Well, some communities have been destroyed/sabotaged. Then people will say "Well, that happened in the past." Things that happened in the past still have an effect today, plus destruction and sabotaging can still be happening covertly. Not to say there is no such thing as personal responsibility, but to think that the reason some people are not doing well is just because of the choices they made is to deny reality.

Yes Finally! Been waiting for you guys to review this show. The best way to describe Atlanta is A24 for Black people😂And as a Black man who lived in Europe for a year I can verify the surrealism and weirdness is spot on. One of the best parts of this show is that it's based in great writing and cinematography that isn't accusative, it's reflective. It simply shows the absurdness of our societies and let's you think what you want. This is one of those shows that is already and will go down as one of the greatest shows ever

The show likes to dive into topics or stories that didn't get a lot attention and goes in on its own narrative like once upon a time in hollywood. The episode with 2 lesbians was ripped from the headlines and I was not really aware of it. and The episode of them going back to high school felt like flashback for my generation since I'm almost the same age as Glover. Lots of episodes get wild but and have surrealist approach to them. Man, all I'm going to say is 2 Pac RIP.

OK so are they jokin? Korey is mocking the fact that sometimes people put the word “Afro” in front of a genre to describe it. The reason people do that, is because being of African heritage is a not limited to being African-American. And two, because being of African descent is not just a race, its comprised-up of thousands of ethnic groups, some of which are thousands of years old. Fantasy typically takes inspirations from ancient or old cultures, typically European & Asian. Thus “AfroFantasy” & “AfroFuturism” often describes not only the real world African civilizations, religions & cultures that inspired such fiction writing. But the “Afro” also describes the long racist history of Africa’s intentional exclusion as a source of civilization, epics (or “high-culture”), storytelling & humanity from mainstream education, globally. Why is that funny.

Donald Glover is married and has children with a white woman. Ppl say he talks white. Acts white. The season is how he got successful and now whiteness and blackness is called into question. What does whitness take on? What does blackness mean? What if we don't even see black or white? What if it wasn't even the main cast? What about mixed people like Van? Is Atlanta still Atlanta if we leave Atlanta? Btw Donald sold the show to FX to be about music but that was a lie it is really about "seeing ourselves and people weve known who never have a voice on tv." Dave ended up being the simple music show FX wanted to get from Donald.
