That ending with the rain, Sade playing and Lottie finally cracking a smile......Such a beautiful scene. I keep going back to it

This episode felt so real. I’ve had birthdays when I was young where my parents were at odds and kind of winging it because they are stressed themselves. I had no idea at the time, but seeing Lati’s attitude reminds me of myself.

Its crazy how even if you've never watched Atlanta before this episode still acts as its own sweet little short film.

I loved this episode. It’s eeriness, Earn confessing his feelings for Van, Van and Earn getting back together despite its open endedness, though I think that’s real. It feels real, at least to me. I know a lot of Atlanta was to convey that strange and eerie feeling, which I believe was conveyed well, but I could especially feel it in this episode. Someone mentioned that nothing really surreal happened this episode which helped add to that feeling of eeriness because usually something weird does happen. It’s Atlanta. Maybe I like it so much because this eeriness feels nostalgic to me, but I think this was well-done. Nothing over the top like some romantic comedy, they were both honest with each other, and by the end once they’ve both opened up to each other, the energy clearly shifts. It shifts enough that Lottie even notices. I think this episode was beautifully done and it feels so worthwhile after “Helen”. That episode sucked. Not because it was poorly done or anything, just how that one feels by the end. It sucks that things didn’t work out, but it was a conversation that needed to happen. Earn is a flawed character, but he’s growing. That was evident in that episode (as well as others, but “Helen” specifically). Van is still growing too, she’s still figuring herself out, don’t think I forgot about season 3’s finale. But I think this episode was satisfying, a “look how far they’ve come” moment, and it was worth it to get to that point.

And no hate to that episode “Helen”, I love that episode. I’m just using it as comparison to this one on their relationship.

Hadn't quite figured out how to parse this ep, I love the idea that the snipe hunt is specifically about being unattainable and trying to capture something that's not there. I definitely expected more horror weirdness (esp after seeing the snipe!) but like... she literally caught what can't be caught. And Earn manages to grasp what he's needed since episode 1. Brilliant as ever, thanks for another insightful vid!

This was a cute review 😊 Can't blame a 6 year old for not feelin' spending a birthday like this. And because Atlanta has sort of conditioned us to be apprehensive about what to expect, I was nervous for at least half the episode. But the mellow mood took me over, and I became invested in the L.A. stakes. I let my guard down (which might have been the intention). So the snipe thing totally caught me by surprise, but I loved that. Van's reaction to Lottie catching something she knows she made up was perfect. Things that shouldn't exist, existing are the kinds of surreal/funny coincidences I live for on this show.

I thought it was kinda underwhelming at first. Like I wasn't expecting the white dude to actually try to kill them or something cause Atlanta ain't like that, but I was expecting more due to the setting, like Lotti would wander off and they would look for her and it would be creepy or something. But in hindsight I think the lack of weirdness was intentional to focus solely on the relationship, which was done wonderfully. I loved the collab, btw, very clever.

Spoiler: I think Earn's admission of abuse without the show ever revealing who it was, or even what KIND of abuse it was was actually powerful. It's showing that we, the audience, don't NEED to know what exactly happened. Just know that it happened and it deeply affected him, and every facet of his life. It gives insight into why he is the flawed character he is. Why he needs spite to give him power. Why, before he had power, he allowed so many people to walk over him with little to no pushback. And why he's had so much trouble with intimacy and commitment in his relationships. I should hope, after The Homeliest Little Horse episode and him realizing he needed to, that he really DID go back to therapy. Maybe that's why he's finally able to tell Van how he really feels.

Not sure who the girl voice in the video; but I felt the constant back forth almost bickering between the two of you was very distracting and takes away from the critical analysis your provide on the episode. If it flowed more like a conversation instead of a back and forth of whose turn or whose right it would have been better.

Honestly, For a series finale it went absolutely NOWHERE.. As for the Series in itself? Yeah…. I wanted to like it, I really did. Season 1 and 2 were good. Not great, But good enough to keep me invested. FUBU I related to the most because I remember Middle school being that brutal when it came to wearing fake brands and what not, The ending hits you in the gut too… How can I say this without coming off as a condescending white guy..Ohhh yeah! They had 2-3 years to not become Woke garbage. And what did they do? They became Woke garbage. Earn as a character was the LEAST bit like-able. I Liked Albert and Darius very much throughout the series And they as characters were consistent. Earn on the other hand? It’s like he hated whitey soo much Outside of the show that he became a white devil in black skin WITHIN the show.. The goof outside the door was pretty good minus the “I still hate whitey” overtones.. The ONLY episode I liked in S3 was a little sliver of an episode where Darius finds out his Aunts restaurant got bout out by some venture capitalist and left the Aunt with nothing… I felt for Darius there cause you could tell how disgusted he was with the whole ordeal. Rest of season 3 you can honestly throw in the garbage.. Like I said, Really wanted to like the series. But it’s forgettable with all due respect with piss poor execution most of the time.

I don't understand why you would write "how can I say this without sounding like a condescending white guy" and then proceed to make no effort to do so. Also that woman wasn't Darius's actual aunt. It's interesting that you insult the show for its "woke garbage" while demonstrating a lack of understanding for basic cultural differences.

Insteresting you take a lot of its messaging as “Whites are bad” speaks volumes to your character and understanding

There was a lot of woke shit in season 1.. what are you on? lol. I think your issue is that the critique of white people continued. But it's fine you can watch whatever you want. Also, what the fuck does woke even mean to you all truly. Seems like the latest buzzword to describe anything that focuses on marginalized groups because sjw has gone out of fashion and didn't get as mainstream. Anyway, have a good day.
