Im telling you, in 5 to 10 years its gonna be a cult classic. I already see clips of the show go mega viral on Tiktok and all the comments being "What show is this". I can't wait for ppl to experience what we've experienced over the past 5 years with this show. Idk what it is about Donald Glovers work being slow burners (much like Community now having a big reemergence cause of streaming) but ppl will catch on.

This should have been the series finale. The last 4 episodes focused on giving us an individual farewell to each main character (Earn, Alfred, and Darius). This episode was a farewell to Atlanta, both the city and the world of the show. Imagine the last words of the show being, "He made the blackest movie ever!"

I started crying watching this episode of Atlanta. I had just rewatched Goofy Movie for the first time in decades with my girlfriend, after I watched it, I ended up calling my dad for the first time in years. It's hard to explain, but my father really is a goof too. I spent much of my life angry at him, but the film helped me understand his perspective, and forgive him for his faults. A Goofy Movie is an entirely different ride as an adult. This episode just cuts so deep to the core of what makes the Goofy movie one of the greatest father/son films ever. And of course, the blackest movie ever made 🥲 Donald Glover makes the hardest hitting shit. Period.

This video is just peak... everything. Thank you so so much, you make Atlanta so much more rewarding to watch and for someone who doesn't live in the US and doesn't experience racism, it helps me understand Atlanta on a deeper level. In the beginning you were talking about Atlanta being un-pitch-able. I feel like this video would be a great pitch. Maybe kind of spoiler heavy, but this video is 100% of what Atlanta is about
@b_cuziwant2 Жыл бұрын
So great that you can say Atlanta helps you understand racism on a deeper level. The educational value of this show, in all of it’s splendor, is what I have always enjoyed the most. As a Black Man in America, I can tell you that I truly appreciate Donald and the unparalleled team that created this masterpiece. It’s therapeutic to have the mental warfare of Black Men and people illustrated in such a beautifully poetic manner. But, it’s also extremely rewarding to know that someone like yourself can digest this content and not only be entertained, but also educated. Thank you and thanks Atlanta!

This is such a hard show to recommend. I've tried and failed many times to get others into it, but the obscure nature and surrealness are too much for most people to absorb and appreciate. It's like trying to convince others to listen to your favorite artist, when the music just found you at the right time. I think that is how Atlanta hits.. you have to see it at the right time in your life to understand or better yet, absorb it's power. Like looking through a telescope at the right angle at the right time, just to catch the right celestial body. It's objectively beautiful, but you cannot always see it

Watched the whole thing last night before bed and processed everything. This review felt more than a review. Almost like a psuedo documentary regarding the show Atlanta itself. Whether its popular or mainstream or not, I will forever know it as excellent art and the best at what it did. And The Goof Who Sat By The Door is an excellent showcase of Atlanta’s humor, craziness, and on point commentary. Also, that point about how this episode better showcases what Earn was trying to do in Episode 7 makes so much sense. The camping trip was Earn trying to have his own Goofy Movie reconciliation with his family. And while life isnt a fairy tale he does succeed and gets that fairy tale ending with his family. Maybe Earn watched the documentary in universe and then he took Van and Lottie with him to the lake. Also thats a smart catch on him basically getting over the fear of water. Didnt notice that on first viewing. The white rice joke and Goofy laugh still has me in stitches 😂😂😂😂😂😂

I loved this episode because The Goofy Movie is one of my favourite movies. Even though we didn't have much growing up, my mum always made an effort to get us things she never had when she was a child as her family was poor like so many Carribbean families in the UK 🇬🇧 during 50s, 60s and 70s. So my mum always got my sister and I Disney movies when she could and one of them was The Goofy Movie. We loved the music and song because it was apart of the black culture (but as a kid you don't always recognise that )and we watched it so much that we memorized whole sections of the movie and now in our 30s we still recite the movies and laugh 🥰

Incredible work (per usual). I’d specifically like to point out your care for each individual video. There is a trend of artists releasing TV related content as soon as the episode they’re talking about is out, making reviews/analysis fell almost like a reaction (given there isn’t enough time for creators to really do research and decipher them). Your videos aren’t about the audience’s timing, but yours… which engrosses me in what you have to say and assuages the fear of an uninformed narrator (which, with a show as cryptic and open-ended as Atlanta, is essential).

Man this video is your Magnum Opus! What I love about this episode is how the show crafted an alternative history of A Goofy Movie that felt very real. It used the power of interpretation (The Death of the Author) to highlight and reclaim the blackness of the cultural phenomenon that was A Goofy Movie, which was made by mostly white people. In a way, this also felt like a nod to people doing fan theories and interpretations of Atlanta itself.
