How much can $1,000 of groceries in the Canary Islands buy? In our case, only about half the amount of food needed to cross the Atlantic. Our liveaboard family home, S/V Friendship, is a Broadblue 38 catamaran.

Wow, just the used-up empty cans and jars are going to take up valuable space. Until y'all have crossed the Atlantic ocean, then to empty your garbage. But it is all worth it, I'm so Jealous, I've watched all the other sailing shows, long before I found your van camping. But my favorite World Towning is when your family walked the Camino. But now, you've crossed an ocean. Can't wait to see your videos of it.

I notice a lot of other channels food prep a lot before leaving on a long trip, something to think on for your next trip. Also they eat a lot oF rice and pasta which is quick and easy to heat up the next day.

Positive Waves was generous enough to let everyone follow their passage and daily log. It was so interesting to watch them on the map! So……did you have any food left over after the crossing??? 😂 Over-provisioning is the way anxious newbies cope, I think. I did the same for our first full time RV trip from Canada to the southern States (“there won’t be any vegan food anywhere!” 😛)
@WorldTowning
@WorldTowning 2 жыл бұрын
We had food left over, not a ton and frankly we were really glad to have it as the grocery stores in Martinique were very bare compared to Europe. It could be nerves, but I think I have been like this my whole life, I am a foodies. Yep, definitely hard to find vegan for sure. We did stock up on that as well. We share our passage and daily updates on our Patreon page.

It was so nice to have them after not seeing them for years. We usually see them 3x a year. Great question, glad you asked. We have a "no tech" in the bedroom policy and we do movie night once a week as a family, although Will and I usually fall asleep. Of course, airplanes and crossing are unlimited movies. We have had this policy since they were little and it has really served all of us well.

If they get wet it could be a mess, although most are not made of just paper anymore. Also, bugs like the glue and although we did not get all the glue off, most of it was gone. Great question.

Well I was very disappointed that you didn't post vlog's for so long but I thought I would see what happens when you complete the crossing. To see a video from Christmas and provisioning for the trip is unacceptable to me. Your videos have held my interest for a while but it seems that now you are only concerned about making money any way that you can. I will be unsubscribing and I suspect that others will join me. Sorry for the downer, wish you and your kids good luck.
@WorldTowning
@WorldTowning 2 жыл бұрын
Stuart I do hope you get to read this comment before unsubscribing. It is just Will and I producing the vlogs, editing, homeschooling, sailing. Preparing to cross an ocean only 1 year after learning how to sail, understanding provisioning, during Christmas, while my parents were visiting after not seeing them for 2 years, doing our part as counselor for Avalon's college applications and more was no joke. We have not taken more than a couple of hours off from working 7 days since before September. We did the best we could with our time constrains. For what it is worth our community likes to see the processes involved to get to the next step in the journey. Please, only concerned about making money...guess what, we are not getting rich in YT, not only are we not getting rich...it does not pay a fraction of our bills and we devote A LOT of hours to the channel out of love. To accuse us of doing it for the money is hurtful and frankly very untrue. If we are focused on making money any way we could (as you have stated). we would go back to our old lives which were much more lucrative. Hopefully this sheds some light on why we had a month without vlogs and why we are sharing provisioning, etc. It is all part of the journey.
