This has to be one of the most beautiful rivers on this island to fish. Only negative thing I see about the river, is the pressure by fisherman on the lower sections closer to the salt water. Up above, near the lodge, the river is pretty accessible,but on the lower sections, you will need to be a pretty nimble individual, it can be very dangerous scaling some of the cliff faces. But as I said, it is a beautiful river , and still one of my favourites to fish !

This looks such a fantastic place to fish. On my local river Tyne in Northumberland uk, our Salmon seem to have none of it when presented with a dry fly! I've tried and tried but they just don't buy it. I've obviously had fish chase a fly fished very shallow, but never one rising in a classical dry fly manner. It really strange how the fish respond to dry fly so well on some rivers and not at all on others! I'll keep trying!

I watched quite a few NFF atlantic salmon videos today, this is the first guide i saw use a net to land the fish. I also noticed the guide only handles the fish, never the angler, is that part of regulations on these fisheries?

I’m a guide in Newfoundland also, it’s not part of the regulations. We just do it to limit the amount of time the fish is out of the water. Quicker the release the better.

There are many good companies to buy flies from, such as Orvis, Reelflies.ca and Umpqua. If you look under the categories of species and then type (i.e. streamer, dry fly, etc....) there will be a list of recommended flies. Of course the best advice for flies is to ask guides or a local fly shop. Good luck!
