Another great video, Todd! It was cool to see you help narrate this one. One of the things that I really like about your videos is that there is no audible swearing. I mentor a middle school fishing club and it's nice to be able to show a quality fishing video without having to mute the sound.

I've been to both the Royal Wolf & Big Ku for many years...not only is the fishing great, but the entire operation, staff & guides are the best. When I first came, I mostly focused on chucking streamers every day till my arm fell off...but the dry fly fishing can be fantastic...even throwing dry droppers with nymphs. Looking forward again to my trip to RW this early July.

Watched the online live video feeds from Brooks Falls all last summer. July 19th. was the day most fish jumping activity was seen. Also saw a few guys down in the river well below the falls. They were fly fishing and catching some fish. Didn't seem to be any conflict between bears and human fishers, but some close encounters! Only occasionally did one of the cameras zoom in on a fly guy. Mostly the camera operator panned away from the fly fishers as not to intrude on their privacy. Looked like a ton of fun. Cheers!

Every time I watch a video on the Catch Magazine KZbin channel by Todd Moen, I always get new inspiration for my next video content. A fishing trip in Alaska that is both thrilling and exciting. Thank you very much for sharing this beautiful experience and good luck always and stay enthusiastic. Mancing Tanago from Yogyakarta, Indonesia.

Todd, I comment on every video how great it is, so not to sound like a broken record, but this was another great one, done a little bit differently. This looked like an amazing trip. I also love your enthusiasm for dry fly fishing. Today, a lot of guys are really into nymphing and fishing streamers, but I'd much rather fish a dry than anything, to the point that I sometimes fish one when it might not catch as many fish. To catch fish this size on dries must be incredible. Thanks for another great video, and great to see you finally.
@CatchMagazine9 ай бұрын
Hi James! I always appreciate your comments so thanks. Yes, just something about fishing the dry, for me as a camera operator it really just comes down to how visual it is. But I’m with ya as a fisherman, I’d rather throw dries and not catch as many any day.

Just curious if the rainbows are that selective? So if there's a green drake hatch, would they take a caddis or even a mouse pattern? Beautiful film!
@CatchMagazine9 ай бұрын
We tried a mouse and fished it hard with no hook ups. Had a few giant refusals. I think these trout would eat a caddis or even a stimulator… any attractor when they are really feeding hard.

Naknek River lodge is a great option. $4995 for 7 day trip including a trip to brooks falls. Covers meals, lodging and fishing. Flights to and from Naknek airport are on your own and you will want to bring an additional 20% for gratuities for staff and guides. Worth every penny. They offer fly out options as well.

How often does a bear get aggressive or tries to attack a fishermen??
@mattstout85615 күн бұрын
Rarely if ever. I have found more people wanting a bear story to bring back home. They rarely experience a charge, or any aggressive behavior. By late July, they are salmon drunk and focused on one thing…. Now bears in Denali and over in MT/WY, different behavior.
