Developed during the South African Border War of the 1980s, the Atlas Cheetah was a major upgrade of South Africa's Dassault Mirage III fleet. The project was applied technology from Israel's IAI Kfir, which was derived from IAI Nesher.

This is a totally different beast compared to the Mirage III,yes the airframe from the Mirage III but that's how far it goes.....it's as diffrent from another as the moon and the sun

The Israeli influence is clear, the added canards and the avionics. These are great aircraft for their time and would still be a force to be reckoned with in certain regions.

Funny....I couldn't find a single thing on the internet about it. All I could find were Red Flag reports among other joint exercise reports stating how no Gen 4 or 4.5 fighters have the thrust to weight ratio out maneuver the F-15, ESPECIALLY in vertical flight while carrying munitions.
